Wedding Woes

Yep, it's Monday

How was the weekend?  Saturday was a birthday party that I don't think I've processed yet.  I'm not even sure what happened yesterday but it was a bunch of little shit.

6let has an appointment for a chest x-ray and meet a pulmonologist at 8.  DH was supposed to get off work, but Friday afternoon found out he couldn't. I called a sitter and she's full.  My back up to that was ok, except Max is now not feeling well.  Yesterday was diarrhea and lethargy.  He spent all night sleeping on my chest with a low grade fever.  I'll be calling the pedi when they open at 8. So now I also get to drag all 3 to 6let's apt and hopefully something for Max.  Did I mention I spent the night on the couch with Max?

I needed to get stuff done today.  Party planner has some ideas I want to do, but it's not going to happen with sick babies and a wedding Friday night.

Boo to sick kids!! :(  I hope they feel better soon.

Weekend was pretty good.  Friday we had dinner at the IL's.  We left the kids there and they had a grand old time over the weekend.

We came home and had drinks on the patio and then went to bed.  Saturday, we slept in a bit and then got up and went to Costco. I'm excited about Costco.  I like their stuff better than Sam's.  They have the cutest Levi's in DefConn's size.  I was definitely, "I want to buy all the things!"

We went out for a very early dinner to place that had 130 beers on tap.  After dinner, we got some Dairy Queen and went home to watch ND/Purdue, because we're old.  Ha.

Yesterday, I picked up the kids and we went to do pictures with all the kids (my nieces and nephew).  From what I saw on the camera, they turned out great.  After pics, I took the kids home and then went to A's mom's house for a little gtg.
  • Oh 6 - that's a hell of a lot on your plate.

Weekend wasn't bad. Busy and I'm not sure we really had one.

Poor H has 6+ hours of driving today. Drove down to DE, works all day, then drives home tonight because we have our first OB appointment tomorrow morning. Then he has to drive BACK to DE tomorrow and will stay until Thursday. I feel badly.

  • Poor 6.  Poor kids.  Hope everyone is feeling better soon and you get some rest.

    Yuck, 6.

Friday night was just stay at home and relax.  I think I even went to bed early.  Saturday was shopping for makeup with friend and I got some new shoes.  I'm actually having buyer's remorse and will probably be taking a pair back.  I'll make a new post for them.  Had lunch at a new Mexican restaurant that is amazing, I wanted all the tamales and dinner at a regular place that makes yummy pizzas.  Sunday I helped DH with some of his work.  I'm not sure how this organization is going to keep going, it's a clusterfark and the board is the source of the cluster.

ETA:  I like Costco better too, MrsC.  Their food selection is better than Sams and yay for not treating employees like crap.  We don't have a a Costco, which makes me sad.
  • The weekend was awesome!  I'll make a separate post about it.

Son is back at school today.  He's still got a bit of a sore throat but he's feeling much better.
  • Weekend was bleh.

Ran a fever Fri afternoon and had to shave an hour from work. Again. Went to DD's dance class and I think I was running a little one then. So DH and DD went to run around in the zoo (great time to do it) and I stayed home and rested. Sunday was better, so we did an easy nature walking trail. At least get some up and moving around helped a little.

  • We spent most of our weekend at a local board game convention.  We spent Saturday night at the hotel where the convention was being held.  DD and I went swimming and then had an incredible dinner at the hotel restaurant.  DH got to stay as late as he wanted playing games.  I think he came up to our room around 4 am.
Sunday morning, the convention held a children's LARP.  DH, DD and I are now officially LARPers.  :::hangs head in nerdy shame::::  It was "Alice in Wonderland"-themed and we had a lot of fun.
Yesterday afternoon, DD and I went to Costco (we just joined, too, mrs.conn) and bought "the biggest box of pop tarts I've ever seen!!!!" per DD.  :)
Then we had Jason's Deli for dinner and I've fallen in love.  YUM!
  • You should've messaged me.  You could've taken the Married Mad Hatters outfits, since they're just sitting in my closet.  Okay, I might pet the jacket every now and then, but it's not like I can wear it anywhere.  I think an Alice in Wonderland one would've been fun.
  • Oh Varuna - that would have been awesome!  We actually didn't even know about it until Friday night.  It was like they picked the theme just for the AuntFlo Family.  We are all very much into the story and all the details.  (Not just the Disney versions!)  I don't know if you remember it, but in the 80's there was an Alice mini-series.  DD has been obsessed with it for years.

It's delightfully cheesy and awful.  Full of 80's "stars"  (Scott Baio! Patrick Duffy!) and some old classic faves (Carol Channing!! Sid Ceaser!!) and a horrible animitronic Jabberwocky.
  • I think I vaguely remember that series.  But the ones that jiggled my memory were Sammy Davis Jr. was The Caterpillar and Telly Savalas as the Cheshire Cat.

I also had the Golden Book version with a record and still have the "Very Merry Unbirthday" song memorized!  Funny though, I never want to dress up as Alice, only the Mad Hatter and someday, teh Queen of Hearts.
  • I would love to be the Queen of Hearts someday as well.  I've had the dress pattern and fabric for a few years, but I've never taken the plunge to start cutting.

We had to create characters and back stories before the LARP began.  (SO NERDY!) Some little girl was the Queen of Hearts, so I couldn't pick that.  I was a hedgehog.
  • Oh also, we've bought the Boss Monster game.  We haven't sat down and figured it out though, but I'll be sure to let you know what we thought when we get through it.  The reviews were so good and the artwork is so funny, for $20, we couldn't resist.
  • boo on sickness all around. I lost so much of the weekend to migraine that I'm way behind the 8 ball. But, I did make my baby sis's wedding cake topper, finally. And I need to make a ren-faire outfit for Buffy by Sunday--I'm open to suggestions and links for things that are easy! (otherwise I'm doing this: http://www.ikatbag.com/2010/10/rapunzel-dresses-tresses.html) and hping for the best) I still don't know where the pain on Sat came from--and I was *SUPPOSED* to be in town running errands--but wasn't only because the Mr's car was dead and he took mine so we were stranded at home. I'd have been REALLY SOL if I had been out and about while having pain puke, so, small blessings.
  • Weekend was fairly low key - I did a lot of cooking, and managed to make enough to freeze 11 meals. I also bottled my 3rd wine - a green apple riesling, which is very light and a little sweet. I'm going to make a cranberry-infused Moscato, next.

@GBCK - Wolverine wore her Godzilla costume to the ren faire, last year. DK was a ninja, and I was a typical "wench." I'll post a pic on FB.

Wolverine wants to be a ninja turtle (Leonardo - the blue one) for Halloween, this year, so I need to figure out what I'm going to make for her. I'll probably need to buy the swords, but I want to make the rest. Also, it annoys the hell out of me that this is identified as a boys' costume - http://www.partycity.com/product/toddler+boys+leonardo+costume+teenage+mutant+ninja+turtles.do?extcmp=google_pcPLA&kwid=toddler boys leonardo costume - teenage mutant ninja turtles - Size - 2T/4T&qcid=&ref=ci&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=26-397151511-2

My weekend was all studying for my much-hated Understanding the Bible class. I still don't understand why I need to take that for a science degree. Lamest class ever.

Today, I was able to prove how sick my mind is/how much useless information I keep in my brain when another nurse asked me if a patient could come in a day early for assessments because Rosh Hashanah is next Thursday. When I saw the patient was on a Bayer protocol, I laughed at the irony and told her to go ahead and move the patient's appointment. She asked where I saw moving the appointment was okay, and I said that it wasn't in the protocol but that I thought Bayer kinda owed it to Jewish patients to let them celebrate their holidays because, you know, they were the main manufacturers of the poison gas used in the gas chambers at the concentration camps during the Holocaust. Her eyes just got massive and she went 'okay yep moving that appointment not asking'.

I don't know if this is a normal thing to know or if I just know way too much about World War II because my dad is a huge WW2 buff and is obsessed with all the little details of history.

  • I just finished reading a book about Operation Paperclip, so I knew that as well.

Which by the way, was one of the most upsetting books I've ever read and really really really made me question this country and it's wardrums.
  • I'm trying to find size 4T tan coveralls for PF's costume. She's going to be a ghostbuster.
  • party city is manned by assholes who are excessively gendering, as I've been opining recently.

    Bastards.

I thought the bayer thing was nit quite knowledge, but wasn't obscure.  (Like Otis elevators and BMW--although if someone tells me it's urban legend, they're probably right.)_
  • In keeping with the Alice in Wonderland theme, I started working on DD's First Birthday party which is an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party. I'm trying to find an Alice costume for her that isn't an arm or a leg and I'm strongly considering making one (or conning my mom into making it).

Friday I got my hair did and my brows waxed. Saturday DH and I ventured out tile shopping. We finally agreed on tile and we are thinking of also doing hardwoods in our "formal living/dining area" (which is really just open space right now) and the playroom. There are a couple of things we need to research into and do a bunch of measurements. The rest of the day was laziness. Sunday was a birthday party for my nephew which included the traditional heaping pile of in-law fuckery.
  • 6let's lungs look good and he did well on the pulmonary function test. The pulmonologist isn't convinced it's asthma. She is suspicion he might have some sort of nodules or lesions on his voicebox so she is suggesting a scope. I feel like I'm chasing after something that isn't there, but I can see him trying to breath! Max has his first ear infection. Poor kid was screaming for a solid 10 mins in the sick kid room. The nurse came back to get us in a room so they could get him some ibuprofen. The doc commented she couldn't believe it was Max because he's generally such a happy kid. Bonus to seeing her today is she isn't convinced the asthma isn't there, but she's going to consult her ENT husband tonight and review the pulmonology report and get back to me. I was also able to snag flu vaccines for all 3. Now I just want a nap, but since the shits fell asleep driving around this morning they're going to want to play.
  • I swear there were paragraphs in that mess.
  • theknot hates paragraphs recently. I hope the meds work and the new answers come soon!
  • @PMeg819 - my neice just had an Alice in Wonderland themed b-day party and it was awesome.  I'll post some pics on FB.
