Using Wedding Gifts at Rehearsal Dinner?

We're having the rehearsal dinner at our house the night before the wedding. Would it be rude to use some of the gifts we've received (ex. pitcher, serving tray, kettle), which we don't already have?

You're not supposed to use any gifts until after you're married. That said, if for some reason your marriage didn't happen, as long as you have the money to replace the items to the gift-giver, you're fine. I think people (at that point) would be happy to see the items in use, I would be.

Thanks, that's a relief and I hope others agree. We planned not to use the gifts until after the wedding but realized some of the items would be helpful to have at the rehearsal dinner.

Yeah, it wouldn't bother me if you used them at that time. Like Rebecca said, as long as you have the money to replace them, it should be ok. I would be flattered if I gave you a gift and saw you using it at the rehearsal dinner.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I would love coming to a dinner and seeing something I bought them being put to use.

  • I would be happy if I came to your rehearsal dinner and saw you using a gift I gave you.
  • Have you already sent thank you notes for the gifts you've received? As long as you have, I think you're good. I would love to see you using them.
  • Yup, we've been diligently sending thank you notes within a day or two of receiving the gift so the sender doesn't wonder if it was received. I feel good about using them at the rehearsal dinner- thanks all!

Good.  I would have no problem with the couple using my gift at their rehearsal dinner once I was thanked for it.
