Reception Playlist

So my uncle is going to be doing the music at our reception and he just wants me to get him a playlist of the music that I want played. I was wondering if anyone new of some sort of layout that I would want to use? Like how many slow songs versus fast songs and which songs are typical wedding songs? Thank you!!

I'm a DJ - I try to play about 1 slow song for every 5 or 6 fast songs to keep it fresh and keep everyone involved (not everyone like to dance fast).  I have tons of songs suggestions on my blog at http://allaroundraleighdj.blogspot.com/.

    Good luck!

I'm in the same boat as you! A family friend is doing ours, too. I think more fast upbeat so people can dance, but it depends on your crowd. We can help eachorger out! I'm at work right now, but when I get home I can give you what I have so far! If you're interested!

I don't have a playlist to suggest, but this is what my fiance and I did. One time on a road trip, when we were already listening for our favorite mix, I got out a pen and paper and wrote down each song that came up that we love, and labeled it either E (for "eating" music, to play during dinner) or D (for "dancing" music). If you separate the two, he'll play songs that aren't really dance worthy for dinner and save the great dance tunes for when the guests are ready to hit the floor.
I'd say, as far as "typical" wedding music, to really let your guys' style shine through. For example, my fiance and I love jazzy, classic romantic music - we are planning to play lots of Michael Buble and John Mayer. On the other hand, one of our very favorite bands is Christian punk rock (Relient K, which was actually the first cd he gave me when we were in jr. high ;), and I want to put some of those songs on the list for dinner (since they aren't great to dance to). Then for the dance portion we want him to play popular, contemporary music, like what's on the radio. Good luck and don't forget to have fun with it!
