I'm Back!

Hey Chicas, I am back from my staycation. What did I miss?! How are you all? I missed you guys!

On my end, I had a pretty good week. Last Tuesday I participated on a Focus Group about - wait for it - Tequila! We basically made (and drank) different margaritas for 2 hours. They held 2 contests one for best tasting margarita, and one for best "connecting" margarita (as in a margarita that best connects people), and guess who won both. THIS girl! FI and I also went to Atlantic City for my best friends birthday which was tons of fun. We also went on a beer tasting, had a taco night out, went to a hookah bar. And I caught up on my reading :) It felt nice to just chill out, relax, and disconnect for a bit.

So what are you all up to on this Monday?

I woke up to Jack having a hair ball down the side of the bed. Gross. Now I'm knotting from mobile and waiting for the Comcast guy because our internet is still down. Grrrrrrr.

  • Oh geez, hairballs are the absolute worst. Especially on the bed!

  • Trying to dig information out of super old orders. And then make new orders with no real specifics from two different manufacturers who probably think my name is Simple Sally because the numbers my dad gave me are useless!

    WHEEEEEEEE.

  • Sounds you had a fantastic time! Super jealous of the tequila/margarita tasting. FI and I were talking going out for Mexican food soon and I want to drink ALL the margaritas.

My Monday has already been nuts. My account exec has been on vaca since last Thursday and isn't back in until tomorrow so I've been trying to get her stuff done and mine. Plus I'm super stressed about the wedding at the end of the week and trying to get all of the little things done. I have half-finished projects all over my house (like the favors, because one of the packages of favor bags we bought didn't have twist ties like the other two so I can't finish them until tonight). I will be SO happy once the wedding is behind me and I can enjoy being married.

  • Hopefully talking to the catering coordinator at the restaurant where we want to have our rehearsal dinner. She called Thursday, and I missed it. I called her back a few hours later and left a voicemail and haven't heard from her. I'm trying to give you money, why won't you call?!
  • I'm pretending to work diligently while I alternate between knotting, re-starting a story that's been nagging me for days, and researching for that story. Tonight is date night for FI and I - really excited about that. I mean, it's just dinner and "exploring", but it's really fun. I think I'm going to find a new place to go though; we always go to the same places. I think it's time for something new.

Hairballs suck. Luckily my cat lives outside so his hairballs just get hosed away.

  • Hi!

Just got back myself; spent the weekend in DC for H's cousin's wedding, plus got to see a ton of friends I haven't seen since I moved.  Our flight didn't get in until 2:30 this morning, through, so I am in struggle city here at work.

  • Cleaning. Cleaning. Cleaning. And dicking around on the knot. Which means not a ton of cleaning is getting done. Oops.

I finished the second season of Hemlock Grove this morning, am doing lots of laundry, and have to go in to work this afternoon (but I have a four day week this week, yay).

  • kat1114 - I emailed one DJ TWICE and he never got back to me. I don't understand how some vendors just choose to ignore clients or potential clients.

SaraBrideSoon - It was tequila, agave, muddled wildberries, strawberries, one orange slice, a hint of agave, a splash of (not cointreu, but a similar liqour. I cannot remember what it is for some reason! Not triple sec, either, but along those lines), splash of fresh lime juice, and 2 muddled jalapenos (well 2 slices.) It was AMAZING. If I must say so myself.

cupcait927 - Yay it's your wedding week! I'm sure it will all come together, I hope you took some days off towards the end of the week!

slothiegal - ahhh and you went to work today?! I once went to work the day after a trip and my flight got delayed a few times. I was a zombie at work the next day lol.

  • @pinkcow13 YES.   I am not a smart slothie.  Today shall be powered by massive quanities of coffee and Chipotle for lunch.

  • I'm sick. I'm trying to muster up the energy to go see a doctor. I can't move :(
  • Was wondering when you'd be back! Glad to know you had fun! As for me, I've been in the UK for almost a week and it's sooooo good to be with FI again. Was awkward at first to be back with him but everything fell naturally to place. getting to know my area a little bit and will try to join a choir tonight if I like it. I actually have to leave in half an hour and am freaking out a little bit to be taking the bus on my own but I have to do this.

  • sarahbear31 - Oh no, what's wrong?

raissyrais That is so awesome, I can imagine that it must feel so great being with your FI again :) How are you liking it out there? How is the food? I'm obsessed with food in new places. I'm sure the bus will be fine, and you will get the hang of it before you know it!

  • @pinkcow13‌ - sinus infection. I was asleep last night by 9:00 and slept until noon today. I feel miserable. Luckily, there is am urgent care facility by me that costs the same as my PCP, so I just strolled in for an appt. When do you go to Austin?

Oh, sinus infections are so miserable :( I hope you feel better!

I am flying down early Sunday (the 28th), so I will get to spend the whole day there :D And I fly back Friday afternoon. I'm excited yet a tad sad since FI won't be coming with me. So no FI or kitties all week :/ I'll have to find some margarita's to cheer me up!

  • @pinkcow13:  I emailed/called one DJ twice in December and never heard back. I got two calls and emails from him two weeks ago asking if I still needed a DJ for my November 1 wedding. I responded that I already had a DJ, and even if I didn't, I'm certainly not hiring one that took 9 months to respond. He had the nerve to tell me I was the one who didn't return his phone calls. I don't get it at all.

I seriously craving some fish n chips right now, so have some soon for me! DH and I were such tourists when we were in the UK and rode the double decker bus for fun instead of walking the 3 blocks to the tube.

I'm trying to figure out why my data analysis program is telling me my experiment didn't work when I can tell by looking at the raw data that it did work. Argh. I don't want to revert to pen and graph paper to analyze all the data.

  • I am impatient. The cat shelter has not approved our adoption application yet. I WANT MY KITTY.

  • @pinkcow13‌ - you'll love it there. Also be sure you visit Chuy's for Tex-Mex!
  • Well, cleaning was at least somewhat productive.
The entrance looks presentable now. (Not shown, all my flower pots I have to clean and bring inside still, but, progress!)

  • I love your staycation. Not the tequila part. Tequila is responsible for several very poor decisions I've made, including two engagements. I avoid tequila.

I had a truly fabuloso junk storing day. Found two adorable but much mistreated chairs for 4 dollars each. Current market value, restored, 100 to 120 each. Just painted and reupholstered, 50-75 each. Either way, hell yes, best shopping day ever. Let the chair fun begin!
  • @pinkcow13 We put in the application on Saturday. There is a kitty we want named Glynnis and I really hope nobody else took her.

So happy and FI is sticking to me like glueglue. I love London, I have to say it's pretty amazing. Been here a few ties before but now that I live in it I feel strangely at home. Maybe because home is where FI is? (sorry a bit cheesy there). As for food, am obsessed too and so far so good. There are soooooooooooooo many restaurants and small place everywhere and fusions of this and that...and of course pasties and fish and chips. YUM. Yes the bus was fairly easy and joining that choir!

I'll have some fish and chips for you but you'll have to wait until I go to North London, where apparently it's the best fish and chips ever! And aren't double deckers awesome lol. I wonder how they drive these. They're so big.

    Awwww :)

Yay to joining the choir and getting a hang of the bus! I really want to go to London. One of the places for our honeymoon destination is Europe, and I would love to go to a few different cities, London being one of them. I am actually currently reading a book which is set in London!
