October Brides, What's Still On Your List?

I learned from an earlier discussion on this board that I'm not the only one realizing late in the game there are TONS of things to do not on TK's official list! So what do you still have left to do? I am meeting with my new wedding coordinator tomorrow to finalize the room setup, the kegs, nail down the timeline, order food for the day of while we're there getting hair and makeup done. Once that's all set, I'll be able to shoot the florist, baker, photographer and band the timeline. I'll have to pack for the honeymoon (I'm starting today, but obviously can't pack it all yet - most will have to wait until the morning of the wedding). I want white lacy panties for under my dress (not wearing a bra) but I'm going to wait and see what I get at my bachelorette party on Saturday before buying anything like that. Still have some shower thank you notes to write. Need to break in my shoes. I'm sure I'll think of more once I see YOUR lists!

Re: October Brides, What's Still On Your List?

  • -Make wedding favors (they're plants so have to wait until last minute)
    -Dry-clean groomsmen suits
-Pack for honeymoon (I can do most of this now because I bought travel-sized mini toiletries to bring instead of our regular ones)
    -Put together vendor tips
-Get white Christmas lights and hooks to strip up at reception
-Clean champagne glasses that FI and I will use
-Ask our setup helpers if they will be helpers
    -Wrap bridesmaid/groom presents
    -Make day-of emergency kit
-Organize all my wedding stuff so that the helpers will know what is what
-Break-in wedding shoes (I have two pairs)
-Meeting with recpeption MC & DJ to go over the order & timing of events

Same here...I'm still managing to go down a pound every so often, but I feel like my eating is out of control.  My friend just left a message asking if I needed any WR help, and I thought to myself, "Not really, but if you would like to follow me around and tell me not to put food in my mouth, that might be of some help."

Ha! My friend sent me a tub of cheesecake filling. She's not helping my weight issues.
  • I made a commitment to go on a super diet when I got into the teens on my countdown. I'm now on day 10 and doing pretty good, but PMS doesn't help cause I'm just craving all things fatty. My meals this week have been tilapia, steamed kale, watermelon, guacamole dip with bell peppers slices (instead of chips), protein smoothies in the morning, lots of water. Plus I'm doing P90X about 3 times a week. I'm hoping to loose enough weight now that I can spurge a little on the 3 days before wedding & rehearsal dinner

  • @Emily104 how much champagne are you buying? I wasn't sure how many bottles to buy per people that would be drinking...

  • @LaPeanut1018 I'd love to! We all need a little bit at this point! @bekt14 Honestly, I have no idea. Tons. I'm buying it at Costco. We aren't really having a champagne toast or anything, people can use whatever drinks they have on hand, we have an open bar with lots of options, but I do want champagne for mimosas that morning, and... well... I just want lots of champagne on hand for whatever we want. We have 150 people coming to the wedding... so... maybe 15 bottles or so?
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • @Emily104 We are having a morning/brunch wedding, so my only alcohol is champagne for mimosas. We have 104 guests but that includes a bunch of children, so I think there will only be about 30 adult drinkers. I bought 9 cheap bottles from Wal-Mart and 1 expensive rose bottle for the girls when we get ready.

  • Uh oh... the plot thickens. I keep seeing and thinking of things I never thought of before. A wooden hanger for my dress (or at least something better than clear plastic). Getting my ring cleaned. Getting my eyebrows waxed. Get a teeth whitening kit. Thinking about nail and toenail colors for the appointment 2 days before the wedding. Learning how to dance, and practicing a time or two, with both the groom and my dad. Bag packing (for getting ready. for honeymoon. for groom getting ready and honeymoon. for our 3 year old we are leaving with grandparents.) Should I cover my shoulder tattoo with makeup to avoid offending grandparents? What should I use to do that? Am I supposed to be tan? What about all my bruises from aerial classes? Will my shoes be broken in enough? Oy... Busy, but not stressed. That's what I'm telling myself.
  • Well I suppose what ever you use to cover the tattoo (if you choose to do so) will also work for the bruises. Are you 100% sure your grandparents would be offended by it? And how difficult would it be to cover up? I just discovered at my last fitting that one of my tattoos is visible through the "illusion" portion of my dress. Oops. I always planned my tattoos so that none would show in my wedding dress one day, but I guess I messed up. I obviously can't use anything to cover it, because it would certainly rub off on the sheer fabric.
  • I'm 10/4 Here's my schedule for the week:

    Tuesday:
    get waxed
    Wednesday:
    pick up tux
    pick up dress
    Thursday:
    make centerpieces
    clean house
    do laundry
    pack for HM
    couples massage!
    Friday:
    Mani/pedi
    drop off everything at venue
    Satuday:
    Get married!

I think we've got all covered.
