    1) Who else has registered at Macy's-- how much does the sales associate actively sell you on stuff?  Will we just walk around by ourselves? This will vary by store and by associate, but in my experience they aren't pushy if you ask to be left alone.
    2) I already have a set of fine china that was passed down in my family.  It's not really our taste, but it's a huge set (12 place settings) and it seems wasteful to register for another set just for style reasons.  Do you think this is a smart idea or will we later regret not having "our wedding china?" I don't like most formal china, and what I do is super duper expensive.  We registered for Macy's Hotel Collection Bone China and use those as our every day dishes.  I also registered for stainless steel charger plates from Crate & Barrel for when I want to be fancy.  I personally wouldn't register for more china unless you HATE what you currently have.
    3) Can we opt out of the "Dream Fund" or at least move it to the bottom of the page? We opted out, no problem.
Also some other random updates!-- We went over the guest list last night and Fi and I are on the same page about which family to invite.  Right now in our ideal world, we have a list that is right around our catering minimum, so it's not as bad as I thought.  We'll see how FPILs react about certain people we cut, but at least Fi is in my corner on this.-- Anybody remember the jeans thread?  I found the perfect skinny Levi's for $40.  Thanks Knotties!-- Our StDs are supposed to arrive today!  I'm super excited.  And we will shamelessly put one on our own fridge.  Because we're weirdos. For once I intentionally commented in the box.  :)  My comments are in bold, have fun!
I love the Hotel Collection Bone China set.  We registered for those as well.  We went with the square set because I needed to have them LOL.  I actually like the square plates and those were the only ones DH liked.

    I am
obsessed with that set, but we ended up going for Martha Stewart instead.

  • Wow, I will make sure to check out the Hotel Collection Bone China.  Who knew?

    Thanks!  Leaving now!

Also: just got out StDs in the mail and they are stupid cute.  Yay!

  • Oh, also? If you DO want to get a set of actual, casual dinnerware, I can't recommend Fiestaware enough. It's insanely durable and comes in a ton of fun colors with basically endless serving pieces. Also the factory (and outlet store) is in WV, so if you like road trips, it's worth it during a tent sale -- I got about $300 worth of serving pieces and things for just about $50 earlier this year. I am completely obsessed with my $4 deviled egg plate. :D
  • @JCbride2015 Don't flip out about the price... Frequent sales, Friends and Family, Home Sale, Registry discount... It helps a lot. The day after we got back from the honeymoon I spent about $900 at Macy's using my registry discount stacked on the Home Sale. I saved HUNDREDS of dollars on the china, pots and pans and other stuff.

  • Oooh, yeah, Friends & Family is the bomb.com. I think they're usually in April & December, and you can use coupons on brands they don't usually let you use coupons on (Waterford is the big one) as well as small electrics that coupons don't usually work on.

If you have a Macy's card, too, you can do their registry rewards program. You get a percentage back (1%, if memory serves?) of whatever your guests spend on you on a gift card after the wedding. Then also on that gift card is a percentage back of whatever you guys put on the Macy's card up until the wedding (I think this one might be 5%). Since it's a gift card and technically a form of payment, you can combine it with coupons. It's pretty sweet. And free. And even if the gift card doesn't end up being much (like, say, lots of people use your other, non-Macy's registries), it's still bonus money!

It's 5% of what other people buy you and 10% of what you spend yourself, for up to 90 days after the wedding. :)
