How to format bible verse citation in program

Ok, so this is probably stupid nitpicky of me. But... what is the correct way to cite bible verse? The only one I really need to include in the program is paul to the corinthians, "love is ..."

I would just say that there will be a reading from 1 Corinthians 13:(verses). There is no need to type out the whole passage.

Ok, and hence my confusion. ... Sorry again for the ignorance, but why is it 1 Corinthians? I did see that, but wasn't sure about it. What does 1 refer to?

Because there are 2 Corinthians books in the bible. 1 Corinthians refers to the first book. If you said 2 Corinthians you'd be referring to the second book.
