I have today off and I will be working on finding a DJ and photographer probably all day. I am so ready to be finished picking vendors. I want to move on to fun things!!! I think those are the only vendors I have left to pick. Maybe a limo/transport for the WP.

I also ate half a medium dominoes pizza for breakfast. I have decided that I will not change my regular diet and exercise just because I'm a bride. I am just fine how I am.

Also, FI had a big long talk with FMIL last night about her manipulative and terrible behaviors regarding all things wedding, and he won't tell me what was said or how it went. I respect that because I would honestly be annoying and analyze every word she says. Maybe she said nasty things about me to him and he doesn't want to share it? I guess I really don't want to know, but we never keep anything from each other so it makes me curious.

His baby nephew is in the E.R., they think he has meningitis. His father was just in the E.R. at the start of the week for his heart. We might pack up and go be with family this weekend. Throughout all of this all FMIL can think about is the wedding. I totally forgot about it, myself.

What is new with you tell me my babies.

EDIT: I talked to a DJ that refuses to stay past ten (our reception goes until 12.) I said okay I will go find another one THANK YOU. He says he will stay if I pay for his hotel room. I said okay I will go find another one THANK YOU AGAIN. WTF guy? Do you or do you not want this job? I'm pretty sure he lives in the area of my venue.

Re: What's up today?

  • Aw, sorry about the family troubles.  That sounds sucky all around!

I am going to finish painting my baker's rack, go grocery shopping, and make some yummy soup!

  • I almost made a frozen pizza for breakfast. I may still need to do that.

Sending good vibes to your and your family!!!

I am hanging out at home right now, waiting for my home health nurse to come. Then, I'm heading to the hospital for a cardiology appointment followed by being admitted. I'll be tethered to an IV pole for the next 6 days, so I can't get into too much trouble :)

Aw, poor baby nephew and dad, hope they get well soon! : (

That would drive me up the wall not knowing stuff that was said between FH and FMIL. I give you mad respect for not pestering about that because it would kill me, and I also probably would have wanted to coach FH before the talk even started. I'm a control freak.

Today is my Friday. Tomorrow is a half-day, mixed with working at home, mixed with attending one meeting near my house. Then I am going to FH's class for a "shower" that his fourth graders/class mom's are hosting for us. I know I need to dress super cute because the little girls who have crushes on FH are going to be some tough critics.

  • I'm so sorry about the family issues.  Your FMIL sounds like a real pain.  What a hard time for the family with the little boy in the hospital though.

I'm throwing myself a little pity party, because I was supposed to look at apartments tomorrow but apparently everything I like has been under offer for some time and the realtors in this state just don't bother to update their listings.  I swear, the word wants me to be homeless and die of exposure.  Maybe I should find another agent for myself.  He's not just slow at getting back to me.

Alright, enough of a pity party.  I'm going to make some tea and see how that makes me feel.

  • I had leftover frozen pizza for trader joes for breakfast this morning! Best choice I've made all day.

Honestly, this week blows. I'm studying my brains out for my licensure exam, and just not feeling like I"m getting anywhere with it. Every morning I study, I feel like the information falls out of my head by the end of the day. And my mom is out of the country with my dad, and she is my go-to person to talk to (other than DH obviously) when I'm stressed/tired at the end of the day. So I'm just extra crabby that I'm missing my support system.

    End whine.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your family and that DJ is definitely smoking something! Pay for his hotel room??? Really?!

This has officially been the longest work week I have had in a really long time. I am so busy, but I am having such a hard time concentrating. Today consists of portfolio reviews, knotting, and dreaming about what I am having for dinner.

I'm glad FI had a chat with FMIL. I hope your nephew is okay!

All the bolded makes me want to hug you. That is all.

  • Sorry about your troubles.  Hope nephew gets well soon.

I'm going to do a big

What kind of DJ doesn't play past 10pm?  Seriously?

I'm mean if it was an outside event, okay.  But stupidest thing I've heard.

I'm working a little today.   Then some members are taking us to Nobu.   I love Nobu.  They are having a car service pick us up.    I forsee a lot of wine or sake being consumed.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I'm trying to work, but there's so much bottlenecking right now, I feel utterly useless.  I have 2 meetings today.

Tonight we are going out to dinner because yesterday was our 9 year anniversary.  Our LAST date-iversary!  Cray.

Sorry to hear about the FMIL trouble.  I know that feel, bruh.

  • WTH kind of DJ doesn't stay out past 10? Does he need to ride home in a pumpkin? Up north is weird, yo.
Like you wouldn't even believe. I love it.

I very much envy you this. I'm meeting with my last photographer tonight (hopefully), then I can probably make a decision! But that's like my fifth vendor decision so I still have a ton to do after that. But at least I can schedule our e-pics session as soon as I make a decision. So that's tonight.

At work I'm writing change orders almost all day. And then probably working tomorrow too, but hopefully not until 8.

My brother had meningitis when he was 7. He was in the hospital for about a week and it was scary, but he ended up recovering just fine.

I'm just waiting for this day to be over. Most of our employees are out for Rosh Hashanah so it's like a ghost town here.
  • I'm sorry to hear about baby nephew, I hope he makes a quick recovery :/

I'm trying to be productive at work. Not happening. The weather is kinda gloomy today, which is making me feel gloomy. I do have a date with a girlfriend from work later, so I think lots of vino and much needed girl talk will be had :)

  • Guess the tea didn't help.  I just bitched out my agent to his office for not getting back to me quickly enough.  Not his fault if the properties go under agreement and the listing agent doesn't update them, but he could have gotten back to me on Monday when I sent the email, not on Thursday, when I'm supposed to meet him tomorrow.

  • Today I spent two hours reviewing our almost final guest list for the wedding and updating all postal addresses for our Thank You cards. Yes I know, wedding is in January but you can never start those suckers soon enough IMO. I'm waiting for the chicken thighs to defrost so I can marinate them. Will be making oven grilled tandoori chicken with mash potatoes for dinner.

  • I hope baby nephew doesn't have meningitis! Poor little guy.

I've been sitting on a hiring panel this week, and the last interview is this morning. Having never been on this side of the table before, it's been a really eye-opening experience. It should definitely help with my future job applications.

  • Yesterday I FINALLY got to meet with the HR person about the position I applied for, and she seemed optimistic about my background and the opportunities in that department and that I should go ahead and interview with the managers there.  Just gotta wait for them to set something up there, and I asked her to send me more info about the department/position so I can ask intelligent questions during the interview, lol.

Meeting with our venue decorator tonight to look at chair cover samples, which I don't know that we'll even get because we don't know prices.  Hopefully she'll have some of the other stuff we've talked about for centerpieces to show us in person.  I don't want to have to worry about decorating, or asking friends/family to decorate, or worry about tearing down after the reception.

  • I hope your nephew makes a quick recovery!

I'm mostly just sitting around today.  I don't start work until next week so I'm fancy free right now.  My cat is totally passed out on me and snoring, so I have no intentions of getting off the couch anytime soon.

  • I have class that I'm running late for because CTA sucks.

My period is kicking my ass, which means I'm super cranky and don't feel attractive and in general just want to curl up in a ball.

Oh and FI asked last night if one of his comedy friends could crash on our couch for tonight. I told him yes because he asked nicely but now the fact that the apartment isn't clean is bugging me.

I'm at work but tonight an old friend and I are going out for half priced margaritas tonight. Definitely looking forward to it.

  • I know this is gonna sound totally dorky and I'm 100% okay with that.  For the past few months, DH and I have been helping out with RCIA at our church.  RCIA is Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and it's the process people go through to become Catholic.

As of now, the program SUCKS.  Each week there is a different guest speaker and the person talks for an hour & a half on a topic.  There is no chance for people to ask questions or interact.  DH and I told the woman who runs it that there doesn't seem to be much of a need for us (we really did nothing).  ANYWAY, she seems inspired to change the program up (I think we woke her up to that when we said that there wasn't a need for us with the current model).  So, we are meeting with her tonight to give her some ideas.  I'm super excited because I want to see the program get better.
  • Aww, poor baby nephew! I hope he feels better. Your FMIL sounds like a lovely person... :/

I have a headache, I have spent all morning working on itty bitty dictations that make my skin crawl, I've got fifteen billion files on my desk, and I can't decide if I feel like walking all the way back to the microwave to make myself some popcorn. On the one hand, I don't have any other snacks and I'm hungry, but on the other it's like a MILE back to the microwave and I don't wanna. And now I have the hiccups.

    /whiny baby routine.

I'm hoping lunch time makes my day better.

  • @sarahbear31 I went through RCIA last year. And oh lordy was the director lucky that I was already confident that I wanted to become Catholic prior to the program. The whole class was the worst, he taught it almost like a 2 hour long college lecture. I was sooooo happy once it was finished, which BTW was a whole MONTH after Easter...no one understood.

I'm happy that you are excited to give new ideas! There were other sponsors there who knew the class was the pits but didn't have the confidence to say anything.
    image

  • @birdybride2014, I'm SO glad that someone gets it!  The first class we sat in on had a woman who was easily 75+ years old as the lecturer (not that there is anything wrong with age).  She talked about the life of Jesus for the whole time.  It was so incredibly boring; I was just amazed that this is how they did things!

If I was on the fence about becoming Catholic, there is no way I would keep going to this program.  And it's known by people at the church that she is set in her ways, so I was totally floored when she said that she wanted to talk with us about the program!
  • I always like reading about all ya'lls daily lives.

Fun Fact: In Michigan you can be a pretty mediocre wedding photographer and use instagram filters and charge twice as much as real wedding photographers. I don't know much about photography, but I reject #filters people.

That's the damn truth. :( I wish you were getting married in the D, I'd refer my photographer! She cleaned up my nephew's vomit on the dance floor; she's a saint in my book. (Andplusalso her work is awesome.)
