i finally got around to watching "true detective." i thought it was very meh.

there is something about lauren conrad that makes me fly into a rage. well, there's just something about everyone who was on "the hills" who makes me fly into a rage. kristin cavalleri lives here in chicago and i hate seeing her stupid ignorant face and her ugly unvaccinated children in the newspaper.

  • i think reality tv might be holding us back as a species. at least, it certainly makes me think less of white people.

  • Ha. My people aren't doing so great either.

    You have him:

  • I cannot believe Jay Cutler, a type 1 diabetic, being kept alive by modern (and maybe even experimental..depending on his treatment) medicine, goes along with that madness.  It truly bottles my mind.  I know it's two different things, but still...I would just think that...logic? would prevail.

I don't like Kristen Bell.  I can't figure out why.  I don't like her husband.  His name or his face.

I'm about to hide/unfriend people over Essential Oils.  People are out of control with that stuff. There was a HUGE kerfluffle on my mom board because of the CDC letter that went out to the oil companies because their consultants were claiming EO's prevented/cured Ebola.  My sister refuses to believe people are that stupid, but I pointed out that there are still birthers out there.
  • Gah, essential oils. One of the moms at daycare, who is a motherflucking science teacher, is all into the woo about essential oils. Lady, I need some peer reviewed science showing that peppermint oil cures epilepsy or whatever nonsense they hawk. I really do like her and our kids are friends but I just cannot do essential oils.

And MrsConn, it was the FDA. I only know this because I'm getting some of the "see BIG PHARMA wants to shut down something so natural they are evil the FDA are just shills" BS.

  • I meant FDA.  Brain fart...or I'm trying to block it out because I don't think I could give less fucks about EO's.

LOL, back when JC was Vandy QB, he was a perpetual mumbler, or seemed impossible for him to form coherent sentences and words for more than half a paragraph. It was so bad, the local press avoided interviewing him, or kept the clips super short. The QUARTERBACK. Right after a big win. He always sounded like he took one to many sacks and needed a neurologist immediately.

So maybe there's that ;). Or KC just bowls him over when it comes to childcare and it's in the territory of "yes dear"

  • I read JC as Jesus Christ and wondered why he wouldn't be at Notre Dame. Oh the oils. I have two friends really into it and they both sell it. I will say they've never hounded or suggested it to me and they still see a real doctor when necessary.
  • I'm trying to be a zombie prepper and am slowly building up my collection of essential oils.  Only I don't know what any of them do.  So, I guess I need to print out an internet tutorial of EOs before the zombies kill the interwebz.
  • people are eating essential oils now? Like the little bottles they sell at Whole Foods?

I thought they were for aromatherapy massages, baths, and craft projects (like homemade soap or a hot/cold rice pack). I didn't think you were supposed to ingest them.
  • There are some you can cook into things and add to water for weight loss and digestive health.
  • sports clips is so offensive to both genders that anybody using those services should have their junk cut off/sewn shut.

  • eo sounds like sticking a clove of garlic up your hooha.

  •    My sister is really into essential oils. A lot of the make me sneeze! I don't really use them too much, although some smell good and I've mixed them into unscented lotion to make some scented Lotion in a smell that I couldn't find anywhere else.

I will say though, I once had a bad sinus head ache and my sister suggested rubbing peppermint oil into my temples. I was desperate so I tried it. It actually worked and eased my headache significantly. I do keep a small bottle of it around now for when I have an allergy head ache. It seems to work for me anyway.

I hate matt smith and his gross shovelface. Worst doctor ever!

I'll save everyone the trouble of asking why I hate such a beloved doctor and say that I have no reason to dislike him so much. He just turns my stomach and I watched hardly any of that season. It's literally just a gut feeling I can't put my finger on.

You know, I used to like the Matt Smith Doctor, then the more I watched the previous ones, the less I like the Matt Smith one. The plots were getting painfully complex and "timey wimey"

Sooo, are you watching the 12th one?

apparently shoving a potato up your butt cures hemorrhoids.

I think sometimes "doctors" just liked to screw with people to see what sort of weird things they could get them to do.
  • Unpopular opinions:

I hate the use of the word "precious" in relation to babies.  Only because I feel like it's way overdone, particularly in the South--it's almost as bad as me with "awesome."
    • He's so precious!
    • Oh, how precious!!!
    • SooOOOoooo PRECIOUS!!!!!!

Time for a new adjective, People of Facebook.

Also, I don't get the whole "wear your jeans to work on X day for a $5 donation to ____ Awareness."  I own jeans, I wear jeans, but I like my other clothes just fine.  I usually don't even wear jeans to work on Fridays, so adding a bonus jeans day doesn't inspire much enthusiasm.  DC does this with kids and pajama day fundraisers, and s/o unpopular opinions, don't even ask me why they're having a fundraiser when we're paying them a shitton of "tuition" every month.  We could buy a second home for what we're spending on daycare, and it just went up again, so there's your fundraiser right there, my friends.

  • I use precious to describe a baby/kid occasionally.  But most of the time, I use it in a sarcastic manner.

  • In my family, we've always used the word "precious" to describe babies that are butt-ugly.  Kinda like "bless your heart", ykwim?

And WTF to the fundraisers for a school you pay tuition for.  I'd say something to the directors - - that ish has to stop.
  • dh and i refuse to do book day, cupcake day, and craft day fundraisers at daycare. that is bs. the company posted over $1b revenue in 2013, and they are our second biggest expense next to the mortgage. when they moved our kid, the director specifically told us that they were maxing out the classrooms. that taxes the teachers but maximizes revenue. i will be expecting BIG things from this new director.

  • Our Daycare/PreK does fundraisers and then donates the proceeds to charity. I think that's some bullshit, so I opt out. If I want to make a donation to those charities, I will do it on my own.
  • My kid goes to a public charter school that seems to be really good stewards of their money.  They specifically do not have the kids invovled in any fundraisers for the school.  The PTA raises money through "spirit wear" and hosts a few events each year, the school had a silent auction for adults only, and they do "penny wars" between classes for class outings.  That's about it.  I love that we're not hassled for money all the time.
We ARE however hounded for supplies and snacks.  At least I know that stuff goes directly to her class and is used.
  • Our PTO did one Walkathon fundraiser.  They set a goal of $40/kid to fund the field trips and crap they do all year.  They also sell quarter raffle tickets the kids could put in for whatever prize.  My dad handed me $40 and 6let a $5 for raffle tickets and said it was the best thing ever.  My parents worked bingo for a two decades and helped sell  candy bars, magazines, wrapping paper, subs, pizzas, and everything under the sun. I was prepared to write a check myself not to sell crap.

  • I didn't really care for Matt Smith and I didn't like the Ponds much either, so that whole mess was a bust for me really.  I liked all the other new ones and Tom Baker will always be my favorite.  I need to start watching the new one, but I'm just not interested much.  I have been watching classic and loving it.
