Ahhh, I had to share!!!

I'M SO HAPPY!!!!

One of my bridemaids dog ran away  3 months ago... We searched for HOURS and HOURS.
We covered our entire city with flyers trying to find her....With no sign of her.
My friend was so heartbroken. She's obsessed with her dogs, she works at a grooming salon... They're seriously like her children.

Anyways fast forward to last night... She got a call from the humane society that they scanned a dogs microchip that was found and it was hers.
She picked her up today and I could not be happier for her. I wasn't sure we'd ever see her again because I figured if someone found her, they would keep her since she's a purebred husky.

They do think someone had her. She's still healthy weight for being gone three months. Someone was taking care of her and I guess just ignoring our flyers because there was no way they didn't see it. We had it all over craigslist/kijiji too. But anyways she must have gotten away from them because she was caught running around.

TLDR : My bridesmaids found her lost dog that was missing for 3 months.

  • Huskies really are escape artists...

Also believe me I was already looking for someone posting that they lost "their" dog so I could chew them out.

I work at a pet store and I was just WAITING for someone to bring her in.

  • Yaaay!! You never know though, unless you put a flyer on my car or on my front door I wouldn't see it. I don't look at ones on telephone poles or store bulletin boards. But I would have definitely let animal control and local vets know and not just kept him!

Yes, a random person might not see it. But if you take in a pet, you really should be looking out for flyers of missing animals. Especially a well taken care of dog. It was obviously someone's pet.

A cat we used to have at my parents just showed up at their door. It was well fed, and was definitely not a stray. My dad would go up to local store and look through the missing pet flyers, but never saw one for our cat. Eventually they kept him.

ETA: Sometimes people will just abandon their pets hoping someone will take them in. That's what my Dad though happened to our cat.

That's how my parents ended up with their dog. Dad came home one day to find him tied up on the porch. A few days later, his med records (with name and address blacked out) showed up in Dad's mailbox. It was really weird... obviously somebody decided they didn't want the dog anymore and brought him somewhere he'd be found.

  • My childhood dog ran away and was missing for 2 weeks and it was horrible!  Even worse, when she first got out and we were looking for her, someone said they saw her get hit by a car, but she got back up and took off running.  So, for all we knew, she could have been seriously hurt or dying.  We called all the shelter every few days, had fliers everywhere, went out searching every night.  We were just about to give up on finding her.  Finally, someone had noticed our fliers and had seen one on the other side of town for a found dog that matched our description. We didn't have her microchipped and she lost her collar somewhere along the way. But, somehow our little 10 lb. dog ended up about 20 miles away, so someone probably took her. But, thankfully whoever had her put up found fliers and that there was that one person that saw both fliers, made the connection, and called us.

I couldn't imagine one of my babies being gone for 3 months!  I'm so happy for you & your friend. And happy that her baby is okay and appears to have been well taken care of during the last few months.

  • So happy the dog was found! It's such a scary thing to not know what happened.
  • That's so fantastic!! I'm so happy for her!! :D

  • We are seriously overjoyed. She takes her to dog expos, she's in husky groups where they go on outings... I honestly don't know anyone who loves their dog as much as she does (and believe me I adore my dog). So I am over the moon that she found her.

And yeah if you find a dog usually the first thing you'd do is make sure it didn't have an owner by calling the humane society, checking online or even having it scanned at the vet. The people who had her must have known she was a pet in all honesty...  They just didn't care and wanted to keep her.

Regardless, she's back where she belongs and I am so happy. They're throwing a little welcome home/birthday party for her (she had turned 2 while she was missing). Woohoo!!!!

Glad the dog was found! Poor puppy. I love huskys too, they're so beautiful and have that princely mien.
