Re: .

  • Dangit! I didn't see your thread before I posted ... whoops.

Good weekend. Much knitting blocking. Pics in my other post and I am so not motivated to move them over.
  • Weekend was good.  H and I cleaned out our garage and did yard work this weekend.  We also picked out cabinets and spent about three hours at Home Depot designing a kitchen.  Think we are going to order the cabinets this week...the price tag is OUCH.  Why are cabinets so freaking expensive?!?
  • I had a pretty good weekend.  H and I went to see a band at a bar on Friday and H surprised me by having my best friend meet us there, so I was happy to see her. I didn't feel so hot Saturday morning but H and I went to see my family  and spend some time with my nephew. My FAVORITE Chinese restaurant is in my hometown so we ate lunch there. On Sunday we were lazy and didn't do much. H was nice enough to clean the apt :)

Wow! That is great news, and I think you are going about it in the right way. Proceed with caution. If everything works out, that is really great news. What will you put the extra money towards? <---- That is the question I would be, carefully, entertaining.
  • Fasting went well enough, although I was dizzier than usual. I broke the fast with my family, which was stressful because my brother wanted to have a private conversation about my sister and the ~*drama*~ we've been dealing with.

Sunday, I went out to visit my mom, and she's very unhappy with the ~*drama*~ and is especially upset with my brother, who's kind of turning himself into a martyr in terms of my sister being upset with him, and whose behavior is getting more and more sketchy every time we see him. It's hard to explain, but I think she's right. I ended up calling my sister last night, and while I do think she needs to just keep her anger and frustration with our brother to herself (instead of, you know, telling him he's making a huge mistake by marrying his fiancée), she's really clearly hurting from years of our brother being distant and condescending.

Phew. Anyway. Hung out with my mom and my best friend yesterday, playing with my mom's dog. Then my friend and I went to the Melting Pot for dinner, although it was more like ... cheese and chocolate. Worth it.

  • I didn't know which one to post on so I'm copying my post from the other "How was your weekend" post:

This weekend was amazing! We left at 3:00a.m. Friday morning to begin our drive to NOLA. We only had to stop a few times and it did downpour on our way there but we got into the city around 10:00a.m. So we couldn't check into our hotel until 3:00p.m. so we wondered around the city and explored Royal St. Bourbon St. and Jackson square. We got lunch at Royal House Oyster Bar which were awesome! Then we went and got Hand Grenades! Those were my favorite drink of the weekend! By this time we went over to the hotel and hung out at one of their bars for a bit to relax. Then we went out to Jackson Square and looked at all the pretty art. We then went to a brewery close by and had a beer. We were getting pretty drunk at this point lol. Afterwards, H convinced me to go into a casino since I've never been in one. He convinced me to play a game and I won $12 whole dollars lol.

Afterwards we went back to the hotel to check in and get ready for dinner. We stayed at The Roosevelt which was an amazingly beautiful hotel. After we got ready we went and had more drinks and appetizers at a bar in the hotel. We had dinner at ANTOINES which was not very good IMO but H had a good steak. We then went out and partied on Bourbon St. with @cu97tiger and her friends! We had a blast and then walked home and crashed!

The next morning we had breakfast and Cafe Du Monde! Best beingets ever! Then we went to a cemetery tour led by this lady who calls herself the VooDoo Bone Lady. She wasn't a big fan of mine since I didn't want to do anything she said about making wishes on Lady LaVeux's grave but whatever. Afterwards we got more drinks to include a Hurricane and more Hand Grenades...drunk again. We got lunch at the Gumbo Shoppe which was probably the best food by far that we had there. So yummy! We walked around Jackson Square again and watched all the musicians. Such a beautiful day.

We got dinner at Richard Fiske's that night and the food was awesome but we waited like 2 hours for our dinner to come out. Afterwards we were pretty tired so we walked down Bourbon st. to see all the craziness one more time before we went home the next day.

Sunday morning we met Macy and @cu97tiger for brunch at Ruby Slippers which was soooo yummy! Afterwards we got more beignets from Cafe Du Monde and then headed home. We got a flat tire on the way home so we didn't get home until around 10:00 last night but it was still an amazing trip!!! I definitely want to go back again.
  • I feel like I had no weekend!!  *pout*

Friday I was off at noon.  I locked myself up and worked on my PMP class for a few hours, and then ran errands/got groceries with H.  we did stop and have dinner at our fav Mexican place and then dessert.  that evening, I studied some more.  I don't think I got in a work out.

Saturday I got up early, had my PMP class, went to lunch for my grandma's birthday.  I was starving when I got out of my class, and H ordered crab and spinach artichoke dip, so unfortunately I ate too much of that.  I should have ordered the shrimp cocktail app or something better!  I did get a huge salad for lunch, but the dressing tasted so sweet.  I'm sure it was full of sugar.  and then we had homemade apple dumpling and homemade ice cream at my grandma's for "cake"..

we got home around 4:00.  I went into a sugar coma for a few hours.  I could NOT wake up, no matter what.  eventually I roused myself awake and we walked the dogs for 30 minutes and then did a 3 mile run.  it was ROUGH, I tell you!!  cleaned up, make baked pumpkin oatmeal squares and ST pumpkin/butterscotch bars, and went to bed.  H was watching Rescue Dawn, so I watched bits and pieces of it while I was working.

Sunday, we had morning church, came home, had a mini break-down in the car (hormones, sigh), started to grill lunch.  the grill ran out of propane, so we improvised and broiled it.  ate lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, studied for a few hours, tried to take a nap, went to choir practice and evening church, and then we had a chili cook-off after church (that's why I made the ST pumpkin/butterscotch bars).

we had a big thunderstorm last night, we were up pretty late with scared pups.  ever since they barely survived the May 2013 tornado, storms freak them out.  I can't blame them.

OH!  I tried to clean my Keurig on Sunday (vinegar then run water through it forever), but there was leftover water or something in the tank so I wasted 2 K-cups today before I finally got a cup of coffee!!  H got up early while I was showering (maybe 5:25 AM?) and cleaned the kitchen (leftover greasy dishes from the chili cook-off) so that was really sweet.

that was my weekend.  it was crazy and it's gone and I'm sad.
  • @justbeingme93 - Good luck on the Praxis!

@KeptInStitches - Those blankets look great! You're so talented!

@minskat30 - I am SO not looking forward to the price tag of remodeling our kitchen. I would love to see pics of your progress!

@eilis1228 - That's amazing! I really hope he comes through!

@southernpeach89 - So jealous of your weekend! I wish you had been there LAST weekend though!

    **********

My weekend was ok. I've been pretty "sick" since the middle of last week. I have no idea what's causing it but I've had a really awful, steady headache and have been exhausted for days. I left work a bit early on Thursday then called out on Friday and slept all day. H and I had already gotten tickets for Gone Girl for that night so I took a high dose of Ibuprofen and survived that. The movie was really good, not too different from the book.

On Saturday, H worked and I felt like my head was going to explode again so it was another day of sleeping off and on from morning until I went to bed that night.

Yesterday, was the first day I woke up WITHOUT a head which was miraculous because we had tickets for the Eagles game! We had a great time and my boys pulled out a win in the end to bring us to 4-1 WOO HOO!

  • @swazzle -I wish we could have come last weekend too! Hopefully @LaPeanut1018 and I can make it to the next gtg or if y'all come to ATL then we will definitely be out there with y'all!
  • Friday - I had to work late, so when I got home, I just mainly watched TV and went to bed.

Saturday - I got up early and went to Kohls.  I had a spa appointment for a body scrub and facial (I've never done either before and it was really nice and relaxing).  After that I ran to Target for a few things - I wanted battery operated Halloween lights and they had 1 package left of bats (no ghosts, pumpkins, spiders or skeletons); I kind of wanted the pumpkins that they had, but bats were my 2nd pick (I'm decorating my resort window for our wedding/HM).  After Target I ran to Dressbarn.  I spent WAAAY too much $$, but I decided I hated everything in my closet and wanted some clothes for the HM so I don't always look like a bum in t-shirts and jeans.  My work puts on an annual clam bake; so I went with a friend of mine (FI had his bachelor party).  It was cold, so we ate and drank a little and then made the executive decision to leave - we went to starbucks and just chatted for a few hours before calling it a night.

Sunday --  I got up way too early (bridal brain).  I ran around my house trying to get stuff done.  I remembered there were a few things I wanted to do (Walmart, Sam's Club, Pet Store, Grocery Store) - so I ran my errands, got home and started cleaning my messy house.  I'm so embarrassed of it and I didn't get as much done as I wanted to.  I'll just apologize profusely to the pet sitter who comes over tonight.

  • @justbeingme93 - Good luck with your last year of school! Hopefully it will fly by and then you and your BF can be done with long distance!

@KeptInStitches - Those blankets look great! I am playing with the idea of making a baby blanket for FSIL's  new baby, but haven't settled on a pattern.

@eilis1228 - YAY FOR DRESS! And yay for potential step-father contribution. I think you're very wise to continue planning as if you're still paying for the whole thing though. If he does come through with the money then maybe you guys can treat yourselves to a longer/more indulgent honeymoon?

@phira - YUM cheese and chocolate. I want fondue now.

@southernpeach 89 - Glad you guys had a great weekend trip!

    ---------------------------

My weekend was busy and fun, and I could use another day off now please!

Friday night FI and I went out to visit friends of mine. We grabbed dinner and watched the hockey game and I got to snuggle with their little guy for a bit. I didn't get enough baby snuggles though because he's almost walking and was more interested in that than hanging out on his auntie's lap!

Saturday FI got up super early because his hockey league has started. This is his favourite time of year, because hockey starts and the golf course is still open. So for the next few weeks he'll be going to hockey, racing home to shower and change, and then going golfing too. And I do enjoy having a morning to myself! So I slept in a little and then my mom and sister came over and we headed to a wedding show that was on this weekend. Got some info from a few potential vendors, and laughed at some hideous dresses; excellent time! Saturday afternoon FI and I did this scavenger hunt thing organized by his church; we feel like we have a pretty good chance of winning, but we won't find out for a few days. Saturday night we were fat kids and ordered a LOT of wings and watched a movie.

Sunday was church, lunch with his family, and nap time. I did a bit of vendor research, and opted out of going to the evening service. The downtime yesterday and getting to bed early was much needed!

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • @Swazzle - I'll AW pics (before and after) once we tackle it.  I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year so I'm hoping we can get it done before then.  The price on cabinets is crazy though. Home Depot is the cheapest thus far and even those are going to end up being $13,000+ not including install, granite or the floors. Home Depot will install for $100 per cabinet box here but only if you have 18 or less cabinets.  We have 24 so they won't install with that deal...the price jumps up to about $200 per cabinet box then.  Needless to say, we will be installing ourselves/with family.  Ugh.  It will look pretty when its done though.
  • I'm copying and pasting my response from the other thread

Friday we made pizza and just relaxed, Saturday we went to the movies. We saw Gone Girl and then went out to dinner. It was nice to have a date night since we usually stay in most weekends.

On Sunday we went out ran errands and found some decor for the dinning room. We got another estimate on flooring which wasn't too expensive. I just want the floors done by Thanksgiving. The rest of the day we relaxed and watched football. It cold pretty cold yesterday, and last night. That did not make me happy.

I did enjoy Gone Girl, I was expecting or hoping for some kind of a twist making it different from the book.  Other than some of the smaller changes they made.

@minskat30 yay new kitchen!! My kitchen is still not complete.... Although the only ugly thing left is the floors so I won't complain.

    @southernpeach89 Where are my beignets???

My weekend was busy busy busy!

I don't even remember what I did Friday night.

Saturday I got up early and made up lists with FI. We went over the seating chart, wrote up a grocery list for the week that family comes in to town for the wedding, and planned the remainder of our meals as not-married people. Then I went grocery shopping and ran a couple errands. When I got back and started work on cleaning up the backyard. I think I filled, hauled, and emptied at least 20 wheelbarrows full of mulch and dirt. At least it was a good arm and back workout right? FI worked on building the shelving unit for our basement. After it got dark I quit working in the backyard and went in to help him. We were working on that shelving unit til 9 when we finally decided to quit for dinner.

Sunday was another early day. We did some more shopping and when we got back FI continued work on the shelving unit (to fix mistakes we found when we initally tried to dry fit it together). I did a bunch of organizing around the house, did the dishes, did some laundry (now I sound like Cinderella) and made dinner. I also loaded up my car with two cases of wine, decorations, and 6 bottles of hard alcohol to deliver to my parents house for the RD. Now all we need is the beer!

  • @Phira - The body scrub - so I went in with the lady, I explained to her that I'm SUPER SUPER Modest, sure assured me that she would not see any part of me I'd be embarrassed of.  So she basically rubbed down my legs (one at a time) with an exfoliate, sponged it off, and then put lotion on, then she got my back and arms.  I would TOTALLY do it again in a heartbeat!

  • @TwoDimes - I'll second the whole not feeling very weekend-y.

Friday night we had to do a video project at church which worked out ok since the girls were there for a lock in. We ended up getting home close to 11 after staying to edit (I'm really dying without my Mac!)

Saturday the girls dad picked them up so we got to sleep in (ahhh 8:30) a bit which was nice. We had two soccer games that day and I had to go to an inspection with my buyers in between. While I was in the house with the buyers and inspector, H made plans with his BFF for us to hang out that night. We went to a local bar and of course I had too much to drink. Thankfully H was still good and able to drive home.

Sunday we got up and went to church only to find out the video we busted our butts to get done on Friday night didn't get used. I'm still trying to figure out WTH happened. I love volunteering my time, but if you start abusing it, I'll volunteer somewhere else.

Afterwards, we had planned to go through the house to get ready for the community garage sale this Saturday, but decided that I needed to work on some photos. It worked out well because I was suffering from a little hangover (ugh, when did I get old?!) and didn't feel like cleaning much. But now we have to somehow get prepared for a garage sale during the week this week, which is highly unlikely.

  • @LaPeanut1018- We could have brought back some Beignet mix but I'm pretty sure mom and dad still have some of that stuff leftover from whoever gave it to them from NO the last time.
  • @Dignity100 I've always been hesitant about the body scrubs and body wraps but that sounds amazing!

@swazzleYesterday, was the first day I woke up WITHOUT a head which was miraculous because we had tickets for the Eagles game! We had a great time and my boys pulled out a win in the end to bring us to 4-1 WOO HOO!   --- hahaha woke up without a head :) sorry couldn't resist

This weekend consisted of doing everything possible to distract myself.  I kinda started packing (no idea when house will be done so it was really packing up summer stuff), ordering the accessories for bf and my halloween costumes, played with the dogs, had a Netflix marathon of Gossip girl, unwillingly wrote a paper, and attempted to do laundry (which turned into me folding while others loaded and unloaded).

Apparently next weekend I'm going to a beerfest.  That'll be fun on crutches. I also have the first costume party so hopefully all the parts arrive in time.

@swazzle - sorry if I gave you the 'bola.

@dignity100 - how are you just a week away?!

My weekend was... busy to say the least.

We had a football game on Thursday which we lost in the last 12 seconds. It was sad. I went over to my friends house and ended up staying until 4 am because a nasty storm rolled in and I didn't feel comfortable driving the 50 minutes back to my apartment.

Friday, I brought home 6 hours of work and I blew it off and laid in bed watching netflix all day. Oh, and laundry.

Saturday was apartment hunting day, which went really really well! We found two apartments that each have their own strengths. One has an awesome back porch area that has space for the pups to run AND potty, and the other has just finished a remodel, so it has brand new wood floors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and a brand new, updated fitness room across the courtyard from the available unit. So many choices...

Sunday was back to work as usual, but crazier than normal since all of my Sunday school teachers were out. I went home and slept for three hours and then went back to work.

I've been nothing but exhausted for the last two weeks. I'm over it.

  • Weekend was decent. Went to the homecoming game in SO's hometown. It was stupid cold. We won by 60 points. Saturday I went and hung out with my FSIL and our moms. We had lunch at Panera and then went to the bridal salon so FSIL could show us her dress. I tried on a BM dress in the same silhouette that she picked out (they don't carry that brand there.) We then hit up Hobby Lobby and shopped for random crafty things, both WR and not. Saturday night we had a birthday party and later a "memorial" type party. Lots of friends, family & good food. I was dreading that maybe I made too many poor choices on the last part, but the scale was kind to me this week. Sunday we mostly just hung out and did some housekeeping. SO's son had a JFL game and he took a few too many hard hits and had to be taken out in the middle of Q4, but he's fine. Today was a case of the Mondays for everyone in my office. I was stopped by 2 trains at the same crossing and was 4 minutes late for work =( first time for this job...usually I'm 10-15 minutes early. Bright side I was down another lb for weigh day :)
