What's for dinner?

I tried to make alfredo sauce from scratch today.

It did not end well. I think I put in too much cheese. It kind of feels like a mouthful of dirt. I am not a fan.

I'm about to go make a frozen pizza. What's everyone else eating?

Re: What's for dinner?

  • We're trying fondue tonight. I've never done a meat fondue with the oil and such.
So it's going to be interesting - and hopefully yummy!

  • Not a clue.  I just got back from Denver.  DH is OOT.  Nothing is sounding good to me right now.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I was planning to make fried chicken, but FI called and apparently we are grabbing pizza and beer and heading to the beach.

  • Uuuum I was supposed to make chicken breasts but instead I decided to do a throwback Thursday to my single days. Peanut butter & fluff sandwich and popcorn.

  • P.s. Everything delicious comes in jars. Why even bother attempting homemade? lol

  • I made mac and cheese from scratch with yummy Panko bread topping.

  • I've had leftovers for the last 3 nights.  I'm finally getting over this cold and I have had zero energy to cook, and lots in the freezer.  DH has been at work late too, so I'm getting lazy

  • You let the cheese boil. In the future, turn the heat way down before you add the cheese. Never boil cheese.

I had a wrap with grilled turkey, spinach, apple and cranberry-cinnamon goat cheese on a whole wheat tortilla, grilled in my panini press. It was delicious.

  • I love alfredo sauce.  Did you use lots of cream?  I think that's what SO and my mom use when they make it.
I had spaghetti for dinner.  It is my go to.

  • Happily sitting on the couch having PB&J sandwiches.

  • Steak, salad, and red wine.  And hopefully a Texans win.
  • We had Italian sloppy joe's... Basically thick meat sauce on Texas toast. Yum! Thanks Pioneer Woman!

Yep. I take the pot off the burner before stirring in the cheese. For alfredo and mac and cheese.

I had wine and cheezits. It was great.

  • Subway.
    Eat fresh, motherfuckers!

  • Cheese, pepperoni and crackers. It was a fend for yourself night in our house.
  • Sounds like most of us had less than gourmet meals! Us over here too. We had bought the ingredients to make stuffed acorn squash but we were just way too damn tired. DH ordered Chinese food and I got soup and a slice of pizza from the grocery store.

  • I'm making frozen pizza too!! DH had chicken and garlic herb red potatoes before he went to his second job.

  • I have no idea what I did. I have gotten over it mostly, haha; everyone ate it and FI ate two plates. Oh well. I'll try not to boil cheese next time, haha.

I'm not gonna lie though, everyone else's dinner sounds so much better than mine... I'm not sure what I did but I'm going to fix it next time.

@sarahbear31 Your QB has one hell of a mustache. It's kind of frightening. :D There are a few teams that FI loves that I've become rather enamored with. The Colts are not really one of them. I'll watch, but I'd much rather watch college football. You can end up with things like last weekend in college football.

  • @hellosweetie1015‌, yeah our QB has quite the beard. It's a frustrating game so far ... I'm trying to decide whether to keep watching. H and I actually are still tired from my late night trip to the ER last night, so we may be party poopers and turn in soon.
  • Spaghetti sauce and a gorgeous Halloween dining room - YES.

Anatomically correct bat - ....nah, you can keep that one. It's awesome, but kind of super creepy weird.

Really, @ohannabelle, I might convince FI that we move to wherever you are (Seattle? Oregon? I seem to recall Northwest, but I might be crazy) JUST so I can pay you to decorate our house.

I JUST SAW HIS BEARD HOLY GOD THE BEARD.

Eh, it's almost nine. FI and I were long asleep by this time last night, I think. We were party poopers last night. He's been on lunch service this week and has to leave the same time I do. As a result I get to go to bed at a time I really want to and NOT feel like I'm abandoning him, haha.

I honestly don't know how H is still functioning. We left for the ER around 1 and got home around 3. He gets up for work at 6:30. He wasn't kidding when he said "in sickness and in health!"
  • Risotto balls and tamale balls. SO GOOD. Had cocoa and soldiers for dessert.

  • Shimp po' boy, fried okra and hush puppies. It was entirely too much food and I regret it now.

    @inkdancer that sounds delish!
