  • Thanks for the ideas!  Here's my list.  I hope she doesn't have all of them!image

Oooh... Newsies used to be one of my secret favorites, especially when sick.  I own it, but haven't seen it in years.  I tried watching it once about 5 years ago and DH (then boyfriend) threw a fit that I was watching stupid musicals while he was home. Shortly thereafter, I put all our DVD's in one CD holder thing and threw out all the cases to save space.  And with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and digital downloads, I don't think I've even looked at my DVD's since then. And I just kind of forgot about it after that. But, DH is back in school now and doesn't get home until 9pm on Mon. & Wed., so I may need to pull that one back out and watch it soon.

When sick, I generally watch something I've seen a billion times, so it's okay if I fall asleep during it. Same thing for nights I have trouble sleeping. That usually means 80's classics. Or whatever happens to be on tv at the time. Or, I'll watch reruns of tv series... like Sex and the City or Grey's Anatomy.  Haven't been sick lately (thankfully), but for sleepless nights, lately I've been rewatching the Twin Peaks series... LOVE that show.  And this week they announced that they are going to make a new season of it (so psyched)!

  • @princessleia22‌, both me and my sister love Newsies. I also watch Grey's Anatomy when I'm sick. When I recovered from my surgery this past spring, I watched all of HIMYM.

About 12 years ago I had multiple back surgeries (4 surgeries spread out over a year) and spent a good portion of that year at home just laying around.  At that time TBS was doing 4-hour block of ER everyday and I just happened to catch it right near the beginning of the series.  During that time, I managed to get caught up with the whole series.  And I learned a lot of medical info and terminology that was useful during my hospital stays.

  • I'm a total theatre nerd, and love watching old musicals - Guys and Dolls, Meet me in St. Louis, etc. Any of the Hope/Kay/Crosby movies (any of the "Road to..." movies, White Christmas, etc) or ones that featured The Goldwyn Girls are always a must-watch when I'm under the weather.

So I basically, I like singing/dancing and Cary Elwes.

  • Princess Bride, Goonies, 16 Candles, Breakfast Club, 10 Things I hate about you, Can't Hardly Wait, Save the Last Dance, LOTR, She's All That, Frozen, Brave, Tangled, Lion King . . . . I guess I have just a few I like to rotate through . . . . hahahaha

Honestly - the last time I was sick I just caught up on my DVR.

  • @LabLove86‌, that reminds me ... I didn't watch Grey's Anatomy or Scandal last night! I hope my sister DVRed them!
  • @sarahbear31 I am pretty sure they are both (Grey's for sure . . . ) on Demand if they aren't DVR'd

I'm still watching Grey's - but mostly out of loyalty now, I'm only semi-interested in the characters/plot. Not how I was a few years ago!!!

  • @LabLove86‌, I have my iPad and have the ABC app, so I'll be sure to catch it.
  • I'm a weirdo, I guess.  If I'm sick I do The A-Team (series or movie, either one), Firefly/Serenity, the Die Hard or Lethal Weapon movies, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer (series).

Yep, I'm bringing Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance. I like the way you roll.
  • This thread is good timing. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and it hasn't gone away. I've been drinking water and chamomile tea all day trying to soothe it, but my throat seems to be getting worse. I'm still convinced that I AM NOT GETTING SICK! But, just in case, some of these movie suggestions may be needed soon.

  • I'm late to the party, like normal.  =)

I do Phantom of the Opera, the musical one with Emily Rosen.

Also Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Princess Bride and some of the others mentioned.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Love it, and it makes me laugh even when I'm sick.
