FRIDAY!

Re: FRIDAY!

  • @dignity100 - FOUR DAYS!!! YAAAYYY!! You're going to be an OMH before you know it!!

    @LaPeanut1018 - YOU TOO!!

    @TwoDimes - HOOORRAAAYY for house stuff!! I love that you, me, & @Swazzle are all doing this at the same time :)

    My weekend will be work-filled, as usual. I have a field hockey game tonight, and then tomorrow is Reunion & Homecoming. We have our 1000th football game, which is really awesome & exciting, so there are a bunch of special things planned for that, and I have another field hockey game, and a women's ice hockey game. Depending on when I get home, FI & I might go see Gone Girl.

    Sunday, FI & I will go to hang out with our friends and watch American Horror Story and football - luckily the Patriots are playing the Bills, so it will be on regular TV here.

    We're probably going to go back to DirecTV when we move - even though they were huge assholes to me when I had to cancel my account before (because we couldn't put the dish anywhere because of sight lines), they're way cheaper than stupid Time Warner, and they have the NFL Sunday Ticket, and you can get NESN, so we can watch ALL the Pats & Red Sox & Bruins.

    I'm really sad that I won't be at @buddysmom80's shower tomorrow. :( I hate missing things, but I really hate missing things when they are for one of my bestest friends :(

  • @buddysmom80, have fun at your shower!

    @dignity100, eeeee!

    @hummingbird125, I'd like to see your STD possibilities.

    @peaseblossom55, happy dating anniversary!

    @beanbot2002, hugs. I really hope they don't PPD, but that's the least of the problems.

    @severmilli12, yep, you need a fireplace.

    Happy Friday!

    Tonight is for gaming. FI has the whole day off work (essentially, less 1 hour) and he's going to be working on unpacking at the house. Supposedly the kitchen will all be put in order by the time I get home. Mmmm. No better expression of "I love you" than "here, you no longer have to trip over all the damn boxes."

    Tomorrow FI's going to finish up the yard for the season since it will probably be the last 60* day until maybe next April or so? Then I don't know what else he'll be working on. I'll be knitting, maybe some laundry if I can squeeze it in. Must ... make ... blankets ... oh, and maybe some dishcloths, too. I like those. No blocking. Why block something that someone's going to throw in a kitchen sink anyway?

    Sunday is for football.

    And I started Arian Foster last night on my fantasy team, so there's a chance I'll win again this weekend. Of course, now my hubris in saying it has guaranteed me a loss.

    Oh and we got engagement photos last night. We're sorting out which ones will be posted where (some to wedding website, some to Facebook) and I haven't talked to FI yet about which ones I can post here. I'll shoot him a message and once he lets me know I'll AW. There are some really nice ones in there!
  • @goldenpenguin - I wish I was seeing you tomorrow :*(

    @swazzle, I'm in PA, thought I shared that before, but who knows haha.  We're right over the PA/NJ border.  Just looked up, the beerfest is in Morristown. Hahahaa taking people out by the knees is a great idea!

    @lapeanut1018 Munich is gorgeous! The airport is surrounded by sunflower fields. Unfortunately that was all I was able to explore because I had a delayed flight, but take lots of pictures and enjoy!!

  • It sounds like most of you have very busy weekends planned! Especially @Dignity100 - I hope you have an amazing weekend trip to Disney, and an even MORE amazing wedding! Congratulations lady!

    Also, @TwoDimes, you should watch The Santa Clause again. It tells you EXACTLY how Santa will get in when there is no chimney. (Charlie in that movie is one of my favorite kid movie characters ever. So cute!)

    I can't focus on the weekend because yesterday traumatized me! I roll down the window in the car all the way so my pup can sit on the back seat and just rest his head on the side of the car out the window. Well yesterday, and I honestly don't know how or why, he either fell or jumped out of the window. I heard a whoosh sound, looked in my side mirror and saw him rolling multiple times in a cloud of dust! My heart stopped. I've never felt like that before. But I got out of the car and he immediately ran to me and jumped onto the front seat, shaking super hard. I couldn't get him to move, so I had to share the seat with him the whole way home. He is miraculously okay, other than a couple minor scrapes, but I just can't get the image out of my head. I had to sit on the floor with him at home and bawl for a while. - - I know it's not the same, but I can't help feeling like I'm going to be a terrible parents now, haha. Has anyone else had one of those moments?

    Tomorrow I'm going to see Kinky Boots in Seattle. And I get Monday off. That's about the extent of my plans. Tonight I will spoil my dog rotten, because I still feel awful that I let that happen.

  • @TwoDimes, oh lord we've been in the house since May and still have a shit-ton of unpacking to do. My goal is to get one car in the garage by the time the snow flies, which basically gives us until the end of the month. For that to happen, we need to rent an upholstery cleaner for the couches in there, but they can't be cleaned until the coffee table in the living room goes down to the basement (has to go around outside), and that can't happen until we build the access hatches for the sump holes and strip out the plastic in the basement. We also need to get the fridge/freezer out of the garage, swap it with the fridge upstairs, and move the upstairs fridge to the basement. And we need to have the boxes unpacked before any of that can happen.

    Wow I'm tired now. It doesn't help that I've been job transitioning and knitting like a madwoman for the craft show this year. Next summer had better be freaking quiet.

    That sounds.... exhausting. When will you find the time to do all that, especially before snow flies?! I completely understand how busy you've been though -- FI and I are in the same boat. Both of us are in new jobs, we're trying to plan the wedding, now the house, and the dog in a few months.... it's a lot to handle at one time!

    Also, did I know you were knitting for a craft show?! I LOVE craft shows! Are you doing a local one, or do you travel to shows? You should come to a show near me, I'll buy all your stuffs :D
    That's what FI is for. He has time off between now and the end of the year, and he knows that it will ... benefit both of us if he works hard on the house while he's home. Also I might be bribing him with sexytimes.

    I just sell locally right now - it doesn't pay for the gas to go to farther-away shows. I'd have to up my prices and I'm not sure my knitting would move at a higher price. For now, it's nice that the knitting is self-sustaining - I make back just enough to get more yarn to knit more things, including some things just for fun. I'd like to make it bigger, maybe start an Etsy store, and if I don't hear back from the show coordinator really soon I might have the impetus to do that.

    I work right by Lafayette, but live 30ish minutes north from there, in the Poconos.

    AlPacina omg!!! Glad you're puppy is ok!! That always terrifies me, so I'll only open the window a little for my dog.

  • @AlPacina That's absolutely terrifying! My dog did the same thing but luckily I was at a stop so I learned from the experience...I'm so glad your pup is ok!

  • Happy Friday Ladies!

    @Buddysmom80, Enjoy your shower!

    @BeanBot2002, Have fun at the wedding, and hugs about seeing the hair dresser.

    @phira, Have fun dancing, or try to at least!

    ---

    I'm feeling pretty perky today.  I've lost 5 pounds this week, since starting my lamb and rice elimination diet, and I wasn't even trying to lose weight.  So that's a nice surprise.

    Tonight, DH and I are going to go out for dinner.  Somewhere that has lamb and rice.  Yummmm... (Except not really.)  Tomorrow, we've gotta run some errands and start packing/getting ready for our trip.  And I have to wrap presents for a certain someone's baby shower.

    Sunday, I've got the baby shower.  And more packing getting ready.

    Less than a week till Tahiti!!!

  • @speakeasy14 and @LaPeanut1018 -- Thanks ladies! If I only roll down my window a tiny bit he scratches the crap out of my interior trying to get his face out as much as possible. Turned out rolling it all the way down was the only way to make him actually sit his ass down. I still don't know if he fell or jumped. I really wish we had been stopped instead! Then I would have felt like it was his fault instead of mine!

    I feel like sometime we should do an animal story thread. THAT would be amusing. I've only had a pet for 6 months and I already have loads of stories.

  • @TwoDimes DON'T SAY NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO HIS SWEET LITTLE PUPPY FACE????????????????

  • @speakeasy14 - You probably have, I don't have a terrific memory. Have a great time!

    @AlPacina - I'm so glad your pup is ok but how scary! Lucy hates the car so she doesn't even care if the windows are up or down.

    @TwoDimes - Omg puppy! He/she is ADORABLE.

    @buddysmom80, have a wonderful shower!! Safe travels to all you ladies who are going!

    @Dignity100, eeeee, try not to get too bored on your "quiet and relaxing" weekend!

    @peaseblossom55, I'm so excited for TWD. I get way too involved in my shows, but who can help it? Happy five years to you and your H!

    @beanbot2002, lots of hugs, lady. <3

    @TwoDimes, so glad the flood insurance thing worked in your favor! What a stroke of luck that the owner had that background. As for the puppy, maybe it's wrong of me, but I hope you give in and bring the little girl home ASAP! So sweet and precious!

    @Phira, I hope your dance lessons are super fun and that you end up enjoying it! I get bashful too since coordination is not a gift of mine, but after a beer or two the transformation in my skill is amazing. ;)

    My weekend is going to be lame; I just work 12 hours each day. But since I've been off for a couple of days, I kind of already had my "weekend."

    -I finally quit procrastinating and turned in my paperwork for the job I'm probably going to take. Now that that's over, I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I'll get to start by the end of the month, and officially get my own apartment after I finish orientation (probably January)! Big changes on the horizon for this girl!

    -My college group of friends got together last night to belatedly celebrate my graduation and passing of NCLEX. We went to this pub nearby and had some really good pizza and beer. A few of us who are between jobs (and a couple who just didn't give a damn) got quite buzzed, so we ended up walking half a mile to Chick-fil-A for some late-night milkshakes (best sobering-up activity EVER). Other than C being there and being seriously inappropriate a couple of times, it was a really fun evening!

    -Today a friend and I got coffee and went for a nice long walk in the fall weather - so perfect! I'm home now from that and am just going to clean out my room, start trashing and donating things I don't need, and do all the filing I've built up over the past several months. Then tonight my co-worker is dropping off her cat for us to pet-sit while she's on vacation. Supposedly this cat is basically like a dog - loves car rides and walks and such - so I'm excited to have a little fur-buddy for a week.

  • Thanks for all the love, ladies. xoxo

  • @TwoDimes - You can't say no to that face!  Oh my gosh so cute.

    @Phira - Try to relax about the dance lessons--I know they can be super stressful, but hopefully you'll have a good teacher who can make them fun!

    Everybody looks like they have exciting weekends!

    - The second chapter of my dissertation is due by next Friday, so this weekend is all about the working.  I'm going to force myself to stay in the university library today until it closes, then back again tomorrow afternoon.  I'm a little over halfway done, so I really need to push this weekend.

    - Hopefully tonight I'll go to the gym after the library closes and then home.  I'm marinating pork chops and I want to bake a sweet potato and roast some asparagus and enjoy them with a glass of my absolute favorite wine, which I found in the store yesterday after 9 MONTHS of them not having it in stock.  :-)

    - Sunday is for church, and a meeting...the meeting could be contentious, and I'm not really looking forward to it.  I attend a historic church in town (founded in 1895, which is old for Oklahoma!), but we've shrunk substantially in the past 10 years, and our building is literally falling down around us.  We have to decide what to do--do we stay?  Do we move to a new building?  If we do, what do we do with our old building?  It's just going to be a difficult conversation.
  • @futuremrshistorian @loves2shop4shoes I hope it ends up being fun. We've had several private lessons (just us and the instructor), and those have been okay. I just dislike doing things I'm bad at!

  • Tonight P cooked us dinner, chicken alfredo and a nice salad.
    Tomorrow he has to work (boo!) and Sunday he has to leave for training in CA. He'll be gone almost a week, which really sucks. He has to go for training for his work.
    Other than that, cleaning and yard work, maybe seeing my bestie, K.
    Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
