Well This Sucks

Welp.  Lost my job today.

They said it was because they had no need for my position anymore; I figure it has more to do with the fact that I called them out on some bullshit promises they had made me and then backed out on.  H has correctly pointed out that this is probably for the best; I was incredibly unhappy and now I can find something that I actually enjoy.  He said, "the only thing you should be upset about is that you didn't get the satisfaction of telling those douche canoes 'I QUIT'".

We *should* be OK financially; we were a one income household when I moved out here and managed.  I think I'm just mostly shocked/hurt that they got one final FUCK YOU.  When I was leaving, my dumbass cunt of a supervisor asked me sweetly, "Need any help with anything?"  I smiled at her and said, "Yes, finding a job" and left.  (On the bright side, she no longer has me to be her scapegoat/do the shit she never wanted to do, so hopefully her life will be a bit more miserable now.)

I'm letting myself be sad tonight.  I'll deal with the shitty reality of job hunting on Monday.  H is currently making dinner and I'm nursing a glass bottle of wine.

Fuckity fuck fuck.  Thanks for letting me whine.

Re: Well This Sucks

  • That sucks hon. The benefit of being fired is unemployment- so you can have the last word. And I agree with your FI- if you weren't happy then this is your opportunity to find something better. I wish you the best in finding a new job.

  • Awww. I'm so sorry. That sucks. Being fired is always terrible, even when you're leaving a position you aren't happy in.
    image
  • :(((((((( You will find a good job soon! I'm so sorry they dicked you over too, that's awful!

    out.

  • Quitting is only more satisfying for a moment, until you realize that your temper just cost you unemployment. So yes, this is better.
Don't be sad. This is a great opportunity to pursue something better.
They're going to miss you in a million ways they haven't even thought about. Time wounds all heels.
  • I'm sorry. Fuck her.
  • Damn that sucks.  Hugs.  Your H is right though.  Now you can find a place that will make you happier with your job.

You could send them this as a last parting shot. image

  • People like that make stabby. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. As good as it may be for you in the long run, its still a really shitty thing to go through.

  • Oh shit that's too drab :(  Sorry about that...don't worry there'll be better in store for you!

  • I'm sorry, Slothie.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Sorry!!! That really stinks.
I switched jobs about a year ago because I was worried about the financial stability of the company. I became really good friends with the girl hired as my replacement (I trained her). A few days ago they called in her and 3 others and said "your department has been eliminated- have a nice day". I'm so glad I left that company but felt terrible for my friends there.
My friend had an interview the next day and got the job!!! So keep your hopes positive that you will find something you love even more (which shouldn't be hard since you didn't like it lol)

  • Aww, I'm sorry slothie.  I went through something very similar a few years ago.  You will make it through :)

And file for unemployment while you're waiting to find a new job.  It's barely anything, but it's better than nothing!

  • That really stinks.  Sending positive jobs vibes your way!

(And virtual wine until the job vibes make it there!)

In addition to the advantage of being able to claim unemployment, you also took your principles with you.  I am not good about making changes, even when I know it's for the best.  Sometimes it works better if change is thrust upon you.  Who knows how much longer you would have been willing to stay in that miserable position.

Use this time to think about all the possibilities this now affords you.
  • Oh, honey, I'm so sorry. Seriously, though, if you're unhappy, it's the best thing that could happen. You get to focus on finding something you love. Take a day and wallow, take a week to get yourself straight, and then go after the job you WANT.

  • Ugh, that sucks! Just think about how awesome it's going to feel to not have to go back to a place where you were unhappy, though! On to bigger and better things.
  • I'm so sorry.  The good thing is you DO have marketable skills and in the meantime you can get unemployment.  *Hugs*

  • I'm sorry.  Hugs.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I'm sorry Slothie. That really sucks, but now you can pursue something you enjoy. Hugs.

  • I am so sorry! My FI was let go in November from a job that he had bought a car for. The great thing- you can file for unemployment. Saying "I quit" wouldn't be worth even one check. Also, my FI now has the best job he ever had- its so hard to quit when a paycheck is coming in, I hope this frees you up for your next job will be the best one yet.

  • I am sorry girl. I got laid off two weeks ago.. and the shitty thing is I LOVED my job :( But we will both find something .. I am sure.
