Happy cold, windy, rainy, possibly snow in the higher elevations SUNDAY!

I fell like I was hit by a mack truck.   Yesterday just killed me.   I had to work my one job for 4 hours (rarely happens), then I worked a wedding last night.  That was a good 10.5 hours on my feet. I was the luge shot girl.     I wish I was kidding, but I'm not.

The wedding was nice.  The groom's cake was a pair of cowboy boots.  They looks amazing.  Sadly the lights highlighting the cake was too hot and caused one of them to fall.  I had just dropped some entrees down and looked it was all over the table in a big pile.  YIKES.    All was good though.  I quickly got a plate to plop it on, then grabbed some napkins to cover the chocolate on the table cloth.   Grabbed a BM bouquet put it where the boot was and boom.  Looked it was done on purpose.

I'm happy it's raining out.  Then I will not feel guilty sitting on he couch watching football al day. The dogs are not fan of rain either, which means they will not bug me for a long walk.

What are you up today?

  • Ugh 10.5 hours on your feet sounds awful.  Sitting on the couch watching football sounds like the perfect solution.

We went out Friday night and last night so I slept in today.  I'm now getting ready to go out the door and head to the office for the rest of the day.  If I had actually gotten up I could have been done by the afternoon, but I have about 5.5-6 hrs of work to do so at this rate I'll probably be there fairly late.  Gah.  At least I got to enjoy sleeping late.

  • Well I've been awake since 4am my time. Woke up for some reason and the switch flipped and I haven't been able to shut my brain off. I keep thinking about all of my mistakes and embarrassments.
I was almost able to doze off about 9:30ish after getting up and doing some stuff, but the neighbor let their little yappy dog out and ironically it didn't shut up until I gave up and got out of bed again.

Since then I've been doing housework and pulling out my Halloween decorations and working on baby shower invites.

  • I so wanted to sleep in today.  I didn't go to bed until after 2.   I even took the boys out at 1am in hopes they will not walk up early.    Yeah, that didn't work out like a planned.

Well Chef slept in, Mack not so much. He is like a doggie alarm clock.  Every single day between 6:30-7am he gets up wanting breakfast.  It's crazy.     He is not allowed to eat until Chef eats so he will run up the stairs to try and wake him up.   Chef will give in, go out, eat breakfast, then fall asleep for a few more hours.

  • Just left church and headed back to my sister's place. Poor thing has hyperemesis (the condition that Kate has during her pregnancy that makes her sick). We just got her some applesauce and are thankful that she's keeping food down. I just hope this baby is healthy!

Poor sister.  I  hope it passes sooner than later.  I've heard some women have it the entire time.

  • Wow, good luck @banana468!  @Sarahbear31 I hope your sister and baby stay healthy.  That sounds terrible.

I hope so, too. A nurse came by and hooked her up to an IV, so she's getting better. I seriously was afraid that we'd have to the ER for dehydration.
  • I went to the grocery store and got an oil change. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my classes back on track and at the same place later this week since the PSAT is Wednesday, which means one of my Honors classes won't meet that day. It's a pain in the ass being on a block schedule with this kind of thing b/c the other class will have met twice before that class meets again, which puts them behind.

  • DH woke me up a little early - quarter to 9 - but it was to tell me that breakfast was ready so I can't be madabout that! Eggs, bacon, hash browns and coffee. Yum. He even made my eggs separate since he likes all whites and I prefer a little yolk. He's a keeper! :)

I know exactly what you're talking about and it's the worst.  I hated getting off sync with different blocks.  Will that Wednesday block eventually get an extra class the next time something off-kilter happens, or are they just not even attempting to even it out?

  • Yesterday I took a "deep relaxation" yoga class, and it was anything but!  I rarely do any physical activity, so I am sore today!  Luckily the back spasms from last night seem to have stopped, at least...

I have to finish up my work projects for the week today.  The flea market is on for the last time today, but I'm probably not up to walking around anyway.

  • Got up as FI was getting ready for work.  Yesterday was a lazy day, and I'm going to be paying for it today.  I have to get a 2nd draft ready that I don't have the professors notes on because he never emailed me back about him emailing me the editor notes that the rest of the class got because I was out that day.  Ugh.  After that I'm going to try and do an outline for a paper due on Wednesday and then do about 200 pages worth of reading.

I'm also going to sweep and attempt to fold the huge pile of laundry that has been haunting me all week.

  • I'm meeting a couple friends for lunch, and then we're heading over to another friend's baby shower.

I've never been to a baby shower at someone's house before, so I'm not entirely sure what to wear. It's cold, so I'm planning on dark jeans (they're brand new, not worn/faded), a dressy cami, and a pretty cardigan. I'll wear black flats to keep it dressy.
  • @SmileDamnit‌, I LOVE your baby announcements! How cute! @wrigleyville‌, I was at a baby shower last weekend in someone's house. I wore a simple dress (mostly because I knew I was going to church afterwards), but most of the women there were moderately dressed up. I guess this is a "know your crowd" thing.
  • Do you have any snow up there, Lynda? A friend just posted some pics from Breck this morning there's a good bit there. It's just deary and cold down here in Denver, but I know it' sonly a matter of time before we get hit!

I've been snuggled on the couch all morning with Gus. He's only allowed on the couch on the weekends, so he takes full advantage of the invite up! I've been working on some photos from a family shoot last weekend, and laundry is the only other thing on today's agenda.

And speaking of Gus, we used him for our baby Bean announcement to friends & fam this weekend. As you can see, he's thrilled about it (per the norm).  :)

Just rain now. Although the radar has snow all around us.  We sit at 6900 ft up.  I think the snow is more like 8000 and up.    We are to get down into the 20's tonight.  If there is moisture still around then it surely would be snow.

When I drove back from Denver on Thursday I hit snow at the Eisenhower.  I went from 58 degrees and rain to 32 snow back to 54 and rain during the trip.  (got to love the temp gage on the car to tell you such things. I'm even warned when it gets below 38).

Yeah, this is a mixed crowd, so I'm not sure. We're part of her thirtysomething "theater friends" circle, which tends to be more on the goth/punk side of life, but the person hosting it is part of her twentysomething "normal friends" circle, and they all own McMansions in the suburbs.

It's like Rocky Horror meets Pinterest Hell, so I'm meeting everything in the middle and dressing as suburban as I can without actually dressing up. :)

    snort.

I think what you have planned is fine.

  • I love the "Rocky Horror meets Pinterest hell" snark. It sounds like what you're wearing is a good idea. The shower I attended was for friends of the mom of the mom-to-be, so we had an older crowd.
  • I'm just getting up.  We slept in till 10!!  Whoop!!  DH is downstairs making breakfast.  We're having pretty much the whole family over for a BBQ and fire pit tonight, since most haven't seen the new backyard.  We're horrible at inviting people over.  But the wind is howling today, so unless it dies down, no fire pit I think.  So I'm gonna be house cleaning all day

I have many stories about events.   Some on stuff like mishaps like the boot cake. Others on WTF were they thinking for having a Vodka Gimlet luge shot?       Oh and who thought this chair was good for as chairs for the couple?  When you sit in them you can not see to either side.    They used this exact chair.  Color and all.

  • That chair is much of a muchness! That's a whole lot of chair.
I think it's called a butler's chair. And it makes no damned sense at all for a wedding.
It would be exactly right for hiding in a corner and reading.

  • @ohannabelle I love you so much.
That's because I didn't get baked and eat your birthday cake.

    (I love you too.)
