Happy cold, windy, rainy, possibly snow in the higher elevations SUNDAY!

Re: Happy cold, windy, rainy, possibly snow in the higher elevations SUNDAY!

  • Looked even more ridiculous when the rest of the 20 people at the table (and the rest of the guests at other tables for that matter)  were sitting in these.

Sweetheart table maybe?  Still silly, but it's just the 2 of them.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Well, I'm at the hospital. Had a bad reaction to a new medication and, on top of that, I am not ready to taper my prednisone. I woke up in pain this morning. I'm very upset over this because I won't lose any weight until I can taper down.

I'm also here by myself. DH flew back to TX last night. So, I'm just sitting here bored in between tests. Plus, I'm doped up on pain meds.

So much for a calm Sunday!

  • @Jells2dot0 I hope they figure out a way to fix it all really quick.  HUGS your way.

  • *hugs* @Jells2dot0.

@ohannabelle, I think you need to post both of those cake recipes here =)

  • Oh I wish I was eating cake right now!

I just got done a slew of tests. They are thinking I might be admitted. Um, no. I just want to go home!!

  • I got to spend this morning with DH before he went to work, so we went our neighborhood and looked at our house. We took a panoramic picture of the living room :) we also decided to go look at all the other houses - some are farther along and have lights mirrors and floors in place. We judged peoples back splashes and countertop colors and tile colors. :) we had fun looking at all the houses!

And a nurse here was diagnosed with Ebola after taking care of the guy.

Do you know her? Did you end up volunteering for that ward?

  • Oh @Jells2dot0‌, I'm so sorry. I wish I could come give you a hug! @Sugargirl1019‌, I saw that news, too. Crap, crap, crap. We just left FW.
  • No, I don't know her. I volunteered at my own hospital should we ever have a patient with Ebola. Hopefully, we won't!

  • I'm back from the shower. Everyone was in jeans and cardigans, so I blended in just fine.

It was monograms and burlap galore. Oh well. I lived, and my friend really liked the stuff I bought for her. Plus, the hostess was really nice, and everyone brought yummy food. It was a great shower; I just felt way out of my element.
  • I'm stubbornly refusing to turn on the furnace. The thermostat says 62°, but it's always at least 5° cooler in the family room because it's a shoddily-insulated addition on a slab. I'm pretending to have environmental motivations but I'm mostly just a cheapskate.

We had to turn ours on yesterday.  I would love to hold out till the thermostat said 60, but then the birdy would freeze,  our tropical birdy needs at least 68 degrees

I have turned on the heat twice.  both times for an hour or 2 to take the chilly out of the air in the morning.    It's 42 out  and I still have a window open in the bedroom (it's always hot up there).   We live in a middle townhouse, so it tends to keep it warmer.  Although at this point both units either side of us are empty.

It's suppose to get down into the 20's tonight.  I guess I will close the window.  I just really like fresh air when I sleep.

  • Hugs Jells, and I hope your feet are recovering Linda!  Mine would be killing me too after standing and working that long.

I have to turn in a conference paper tomorrow, so that's what I'm doing today (even though the damn conference is more than a month away!  Ridiculous requests...).

  • Also, I'm jealous of your (general you) cooler weather.  It's 77 degrees right now.  At least it's not 97 anymore.  :/  I want fall, damn it!

  • Jells ,, I hope you are doing better! And I hope you are resting your feet, Lynda!

Right now I'm watching ID. Earlier, FI and I watched the Jets game from a VIP suite his job offered him. It was so much fun and I had a lot of beer :I'm debating get cooking or just ordering takeout.

We leave the window open all night too. Hairless doggy isn't too happy about it but he's wearing a T-shirt and quilted jacket.

  • We painted the deck all day today and tomorrow we're finishing the floor part of it. FI's parents insisted on helping, which I'm fine with, except that it means I had to be around his father all fucking today and he acts like a god damn toddler.

    It is fucking irritating.

I just want this stir fry to be done so I can sit down and play ESO and relax.

DH is a Jets fan.    I have to say it's tough being a Jets wife.  They suck so bad.

I'm an Eagles fan.   We are up there in being frustrated fans, but no where near the way Jets fans are.

Fi is actually a Giants fan, but one of our friends had an extra free ticket, so he went just to hang out with the guys.  He said it was embarrassingly terrible.

ETA: he caught a Jets shirt and then was like, "What the heck am I gonna do with a Jets shirt??" so he gave it to a kid.

Oh God, BOTH of his teams.  Yankees had a terrible season and the Giants are sucking, too.  good thing he's not overly invested in sports.  He's not one of those guys who pouts when his team loses.  Except the day each year when the Yankees are mathematically eliminated/ lose and are eliminated out of the postseason.  Then he pouts, drinks a beer, and gets over it.

As a division rival I can't stand them.  But they played pretty well today.

Yes,  god it was nice to watch that after their last game, where they bungled the second half.

Good day to be a Bears fan too.
