Special Scent?

Re: Special Scent?

  • @raissyrais Thank you! This is the only Escada perfume I have, and I am not super familiar with their other scents. Here are the notes of the one I have: Green Apple, Guava, Watermelon, Pineapple, Coconut Milk, Jasmine Tea, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Musk

  • beethery Yes I got the "bunch" part, just wanted to know what you by "bunch" as in the number of bottles you have :P  But jeez woman YOU IS FANCY. Shalimar will always remind me of my childhood as my mum would wear it sometimes. I agree about the mellowing part, but you end up smelling like a very expensive former prostitute more than a cheap one if you ask me!

mrsb53 Congrats on just getting married :) Escada seems to have more of those fruity scents don't they? I remember having a bottle of Moon Sparkle and it smelled like fresh crushed thyme with peach puree.
I like to pretend I'm a fancy bitch, what can I say?

  • I don't wear perfumes, since my mom is allergic to them.

I did ask H to wear his Aqua di Gio, because damn that is a sexy smell.

  • I never feel dressed without perfume. I'm a brand loyal perfume type, and wear the same sort for years without varying.
I like light, delicate scents that smell clean and don't overwhelm. I have exactly three-
    Dolce and Gabbana #18
    Jessica McClintock
And everyday always favorite, Jo Malone orange blossom.
(I love Jo Malone scents passionately, and always drop by to wallow at the perfume counter when I go shopping. Sooooo pretty. Even the things I don't wear.)

  • @falsara Yes that's where I'm going with this!

ETD I swear to God I cannot spell for shit.

    STUCK

    I got your back girl.

Yum that sounds lovely!!! I like smelling like something I can eat (just the sweet stuff).

@ohannabelle The Jo Malone store on its own looks so pretty! Just that his scents are not "edible" enough for me but somewhat similar is Philosophy. I love this one :

  • Y'all is fancy.  I have lots of perfume and never wear any of it.  I put on Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion everyday, and FI says I smell like chocolate.  I'm a fan of his deodorant scent, haha.  My mom loves Opium, and I hate it so much that I think it might be why I don't wear perfume myself.

  • @larrygaga Go to Sephora! They have this little scent "style quiz" thing that will give you some places to start, but you can also just smell a bunch of them, then ask for samples of whichever ones you'd like to try. They give you just enough for a couple uses so you can see what it smells like with your body chemistry.
  • Also, I'm like @beethery in that I have a ton of different kinds that I rotate all the time, so I doubt I'd go with a different one for my wedding. But who knows -- I like basically any excuse to buy new perfume.

@novella1186 Ouuh now am curious, which one is it?

@amelisha That's the thing though I've been wearing the same one for three years and I don't mind it at all. I just wanted to maybe wear something new for the wedding to make it that extra special (if that makes any sense).
Mademoiselle. Same one my mom wore for special nights out when I was growing up. I've tried Chanel No. 5 but honestly to me it smells awful.
I actually hate Chanel No. 5 with a fiery passion!

@lolo883 I don't know how true it is but I've heard before that the best way to know a perfume really works with your PH is when you can't smell any of it but everybody else can!
Well that's good to know! I worried it was the opposite and my skin was somehow eating it. But other people can smell it on me. Sometimes when I'm not wearing anything but scented shower gel (and it's been hours since I showered) my mom will comment that I smell nice and I have to rack my brain to figure out what she's smelling. (Usually B&BW Japanese Cherry Blossom).

The problem is when I WANT to smell those scents all day! I just need someone to walk around misting it in front of me all day.

Ugh, this is where I'm at with my latest new perfume (Tokyomilk Dark Bulletproof). The scent fades for me really quickly, even though everyone else can smell it really well, so I just spend half my day smelling my wrist to get a little whiff of it. It's DELICIOUS.

Gosh Opium makes me want to puke too it's so strong and not in a good way!

@lolo883 Hehe ok I'm gonna sound super silly now but I rub a tiny little bit just at the tip of my nose so I can smell it as well as the others can!

  • Neither DH or I wore any scents at our wedding. Since the entire wedding was outdoors in summer, we didn't want to risk attracting more bugs. I think the closest we got to being scented was our deodorants.

  • DH is allergic to perfume so I don't wear it anymore :-( I think for our wedding I just used some scented body wash, lol. But some of my old favorites were Marc Jacobs Daisy, Armani Mania, and Thierry Mugler Angel.
  • I bought this for our wedding, since I hadn't bought anything new in awhile. I love it. http://m.sephora.com/product/P12420

@mrsmagicgeek Yes emmaaa was saying too how she likes this one! It's citrusy and light. I'm thinking of just getting Romance for the wedding cause I will only be wearing it that one time. I was thinking that something so opposite to what I would normally wear would make my memories that more vivid when I get to smell it again.

  • I did wear a "special" perfume for our beach wedding - Creed's Virgin Island Water. I swear to god it smells like heaven.

But since I'm really sensitive to smells, and a lot of perfumes give me a headache, I wanted to try it out before our wedding. Last spring I went home (alone) to surprise my Mom for Mother's Day and brought the sample with me. We were on our way in to a restaurant when I spritz some on. Now, unfortunately, I not only think of our wedding when I smell it but also eating oysters with my parents in Florida. It's kind of funny!
  • Sorry, I admit I only skimmed the thread. I have spent the morning chasing 3 dogs that are not mine and getting into it with the neighbor who owns them. Stupid people and their stupid dogs.

  • I also love Twilight Woods from Bath and Body Works (they've really upped their perfume game in the past few years).

I love my Burberry Brit for Her Eau de Parfum.  I also have Versace Crystal and DKNY Be Delicious (the green one and Fresh Blossom).

Like a lot of other people here, I
hate Opium and Chanel No. 5.  They scream old lady to me.  Sorry if anyone wears those. =/

  • I bought the new VS Eau So Sexy and Fearless rollerballs last night because I couldn't decide. FI says he prefers the Eau So Sexy. I will go through my roller ball and then probably buy a larger bottle. I routinely cycle through Versace Bright Crystal, VS Victoria, Katy Perry Killer Queen and B&BW Japanese Cherry Blossom.

  • I'm a Coco Mademoiselle lover! I always had a hard time finding a perfume that worked for me so I stick with this one. I wear it everyday, and that includes my wedding day. Plus, DH loves it on me, so I see no reason to mess with a good thing.
  • I got a new scent for the wedding. H gave it to me as a wedding gift actually for the morning of.  I wanted to get it for myself but with so many wedding expenses I decided against it. I got Cartier Baiser Vole.  I love it.

  • A friend did this and now they have discontinued her scent, she is pretty heart broken, so maybe something to think about whlile shopping for a new one. Make sure it's a classic and likely to stay around.
  • Have any of you guys ever made your own scents, at like one of those fragrance shops? I always wanted to do that, but never did. Maybe that would be a great way to have a special, individual, scent for the wedding.

I made my own bath scrub once at a shop with all sorts of smells.  I can't remember the whole shop name but I think it had the word "sin/sinful" as part of it?  And once you made your scent they saved it to their database and you could go online and just order it again.

Mine probably wouldn't have made a very good perfume, but it was absolutely delicious in the shower.  It was a mango/tropical combo.  I wanted to eat it.

ETA: Found the website.  It's called Sinfulicious, although I don't see anywhere to reorder online.  Lies!  Oh well.  I like my Bath and Body Works, too.

  • There's a parfumerie on the French side of St martin I was thinking about going to while I'm there. It's not something DH will be into tho so who knows.

  • I normally wear MACs Turquatic perfume or some random body spray. I am thinking of bringing back an old favorite or splurging on a perfume I really like that's kind of pricey.

I just got a new perfume for that exact reason.
I ended up going on Prada Candy since I like the really sweet scents.
Glad to know I'm not the only one then! And your wedding is SO soon!!
You are not alone! I'd like to put it on whenever we go out so we can have those scent memories haha. and yeah I'm starting to freak, four days!

  • I love scents and rotate.  But my favorite is Eau Fantasque by Fragonard and I'm planning on wearing that on WD.  Others faves are
    • Eau d'Issey
    • Calyx
    • Dot by Marc Jacobs
    • Honey by Marc Jacobs
    Happiness is an inside job
  • @mrs4everhart That's the kind of mushy feeling I want to get too! Ahhhhhh call me a romantic at heart. Everytime I smell Brut of Faberge I make a total 180 to when I was 2 living in Egypt with my dad. Scents are so weird like that.

@Peaseblossom55 This one from Cartier is so, so chic! Your husband is such a darling :)

@levioosa That's what I want lol I want to smell like something that can be eaten (no pun intended). Even though I do like fruity, there needs to be higher notes of cream, vanilla or bitter almond in it!
