NWR: Question for teachers?

Re: NWR: Question for teachers?

  • Done.

I don't mind being told when I've made a mistake.  I'd rather be embarrassed than do it again and again and either get in more trouble or start looking like an asss.
  • Thanks for help!

And hopefully, this helps others that are reading this.

My cousin got upset when I posted some wedding pictures that her young children happened to be in. I took them down right away and just emailed her the pictures because they were really nice photos. I'm glad she told me and now I know not to post any more pictures of them.

EDIT - And while I did explain to her that my privacy settings were set very high, I still don't even trust FB. The privacy stuff seems very loose recently.

Another thing that irks me re: kid photos on FB is when people tag children in photos w/ first and last name. I dunno what it is, but it bugs me and I don't think it's a smart thing to do.

  • Is she still online, A?  Let us know what her response is.

Will do... I don't know that she was online to begin with.  The pics were just on my news feed.

I sent her a message and then made it my status and called it a PSA.  Ha.
  • In my district we have to have a signed release from the parents before anything can be done.  Without it the child's picture can't be in the yearbook and their name can't be announced at any program (graduation, awards, sporting events) among other things.  We sure as hell can't post their pictures on facebook.
  • That's a good article, Fischey.

  • I'm a teacher and the parents of kids in my classroom sign a release to allow us to photograph and record the kids. Legally, we can put them on facebook, however it is frowned upon by the school.

Legally, if the kids' last names are not mentioned she can talk about them as much as she wants. If they signed a release, she can talk about them and put their pictures on facebook. Once their last names are mentioned, though, it is a brief of confidentiality and she can lose her license.
  • I should mention, the kids I teach are preschoolers -- three years old to five years old.

That being said, I don't have any pictures of them on facebook, nor does anyone else I work with.
  • In the district I used to work in, you couldn't put a child's name with their picture.  You could do names OR pictures, not both at the same time.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
  • Kristin, this might be the first time we actually agree on something.

  • No reply yet. Either she isn't as obsessive with fb as I am, or she didn't appreciate my message and isn't responding.

    We shall see...

Regardless of whether or not it's "allowed" or not, I'd be pissed as a parent to find pics of my kid on the internet.  Even if it's private, I don't know who HER friends are and one could be a child molester for all I know.
  • Common sense isn't being taught in college, apparently.

    Undecided

Thisshit annoys me.  When I have kids, I'll be cyber-bitch slapping anyone who posts their photos on FB without my permission.  I just can't comprehend the lack of self-awareness.

Totally different and worse, but there was this girl in my apartment complex before I moved in with Mr Heels who had children's photos all over her apartment.  She was an awesome photographer, but it was still creepy.  She told me that she's working as a nanny until she can find a job in her field (whatever that was), and that it's great because it gives her subjects for her photos.  I was majorly creeped out and wondered if the parents she works for have any idea she has their children's photos all over her apartment.
