HELP! I don't have a option, I have to get my dress online.

Hello!

I am in desperate need of any help I can get. I live in South Africa but my fiance is American and we are getting married in America. (We met when I used to live and work in America). I have gone to a few bridal stores in South Africa and tried on many different styles of dresses so that I have an idea of what style looks best on my body type. However, I do not like any of the dresses here and they are so expensive. I will not have time to shop in American bridal stores as the wedding will be very soon after I arrive in the US so I have to order online (It can be shipped to the US with my fiance or mother-in-law). I have been doing all my research but everyone seems to think all online stores are bad. I don't want a fancy designer dress and I am on a tight budget. (The exchange rate is 1:10 so its very expensive for me). Anything under $500 would be great. I will attach a photo of the dress that I like. If anyone can find anything siumlar on a proper legit wedding dress site within my budget, that would be great! I don't want a used dress but I am pretty tiny (5fft3) so I should be able to fit into sample size dresses if needs be. I plan on taking the online dress to a tailor and having it tailored to my body type. Please help! I am so worried.

P.S- Does anyone know if the sites www.izidresses.com or www.foxgown.com are legit?

You might also want to check some reputable department stores that carry bridal lines. Nordstrom has an outstanding return policy. Other stores that have bridal lines include Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, (BHLDN), JCrew, and Macy's, just to name a few.

I would go the used route. Tradesy.com and oncewed.com are a couple others. 2/5 of my bridesmaids have gotten their dresses through those sites. Just make sure you ask about any alterations

Seconding this, for sure. Even Target has a line of inexpensive wedding dresses! Also, just search department stores for white dresses without searching by "wedding." You may find some that aren't necessarily wedding dresses that would be perfectly lovely to wear as one. My dress is not technically a wedding dress, but it's perfect for what we're doing.

Also make sure to check eBay -- my dress for my first wedding was purchased there for $75, new with tags still on it.

David's Bridal online is totally reputable and they have many, many dresses in your budget. That would be my first stop, if I were you.

@texastam I shopped online for dresses (I did go to one bridal store) and ended up with a dress I got on Zappos. (Free shipping and free returns in the US, don't know their international policy). It was even more beautiful in person and with my shape I actually think I filled it out better than the model (even though I'm literally 10 sizes larger than her).

I also tried on some Ann Taylor dresses. They have a couple of that trumpet/mermaid style that you seem to be leaning towards. They also have very frequent sales, so if you watch for them they will be 40 - 50% off at some point, putting them into your price range:

I also recommend the eBay route (I saw a LOT of new with tags JCrew dresses) and looking into the second hand sites. However, if you are doing a mail order thing, make sure you are buying something you can return if you don't like it. That is the downside to some of those second hand sites, they don't all allow you to return stuff.

Have you thought about buying a white gown from a department store? Nordstroms/Macys/something like that? Or even somewhere like J Crew or BCBG?
