Happy Monday!

Re: Happy Monday!

  • Good morning everyone! I'm in a great mood today, which is weird because I did not enjoy my weekend.

    BF's brother was over friday night. Immediately made jokes about how the dishes weren't done, so obviously I wasn't doing my womanly duties. We got past that and BF kept him busy, until we all went in the garage and smoked some cigars. Brother started talking about a huge argument his GF and him had just had, how he tried to break up with her, but ended up taking it back because she just moved to a different state to be with him. He followed this up by saying "But she has to pay." WTF?!?! WHO SAYS THAT ABOUT SOMEONE THEY 'LOVE'? He's already super rude to her in front of everyone. I can't imagine how he's going to treat her now.......... And I don't know why she puts up with it. They're freaking talking about marriage.......... Some people.....

    Saturday I cross stitched all day, and started watching Criminal Minds. That night we were going to a bar to watch BF's co-worker's metal band. Website said music started at 8. Turns out it didn't start until 9. Coworker's band was supposed to go 2nd. Turns out they went last. The drinks were weak and the taps had terrible carbonation. The bar itself was insanely shitty. We were there for 4 FREAKING HOURS listening to way too loud awful metal music. And I enjoy metal. This was just bad.......... The only good part was the lead singer of the Black Sabbath tribute band legit looked like Ozzy. BF just let me go to bed without trying to get some because he knew I was crabby, haha.

    Sunday was full of tons of cross stitching. Man, this is a slow slow process.

    @Hummingbird125 - I know what you mean about drinking with your little sister! I took mine out a few days after her 21st, and she got so drunk she started talking about the dick size of the guy she was dating. I was like, OMG! You're like, 12 years old! You can't know about penises yet!................. Also, I love the inspiration bouquets!

    @Southernpeach89 - Maddux looks like such the gentleman! What a great model!

    @Allusive007 - Happy birthday!

  • Mondaaaaayyyyyyyyy. I came in early because I had a bunch of stuff to get ready for a meeting. My coffee is lukewarm now and it's making me sad.

    @Dignity100 - Ugh, that's frustrating about the house situation. I feel like I'm in limbo too, but only because FI and I keep pushing back looking for houses because so much other stuff has been coming up. Arg!

    @CocoBellaF - Sorry to hear you were sick! I've been having some stomach issues lately and I realty want them to clear up now please!

    @Hummingbird125 - Love your bouquet photos, I'm thinking something similar (but slightly different colours). We met with the florist that we're probably going to hire last week and are just waiting to receive her quote. She had 2 big weddings this weekend so I'm not surprised that we don't have it yet.

    @allusive007 - Happy birthday!! Your H is the sweetest, how cute. I love the nursery stuff that you picked' how are you guys converting the chair into a rocker?

    @TwoDimes - My mom has been a bit all over the place lately, she's finding the weirdest things to fixate on! Like the colour socks my dad will wear with his kilt, and if the frames for the family photos we're displaying all have to match and how she thought our theme was vintage but is it dots now because the cake I like has little fondant dots on it? Whaaaaa? I am simultaneously finding it cute that she's SO excited and into this, and being annoyed that she has all these crazy opinions lol

    @minskat30 - That's so scary about your dog, I'm so glad he's okay! I would also be writing a formal complaint to the internet service about the employees who left the gate open. Not okay.

    @Swazzle - UGH I'm so sorry this house shit is getting drawn out and isn't resolved. At least you have a potential back up plan in place and know what you can do if it doesn't get resolved this week. Keeping my fingers crossed that it does!!

    -----------------------------------

     My weekend was busy yet again. I need to tell everyone to leave me alone and stop scheduling stuff for just ONE weekend!

    Friday night FI and I went out for dinner and talked about a bunch of wedding stuff and things that we need to get done. Then we were going to go home and watch X-men since it came out on dvd, but he was falling asleep literally 10 minutes in. I got a bit huffy that we couldn't spend an evening just hanging out without him falling asleep (it happens pretty often) and said that if he wasn't going to be awake I was just going to watch say yes to the dress and he may as well go to bed. I was sort of frustrated with him about a few things and all I wanted was a low key evening for us to spend together...sad.

    Saturday FI had hockey and I had a meeting for the camp board that I'm on. Very productive meeting, but I spent most of the day there so I didn't get anything done at home. Saturday night my sister and her BF and I went to FI's parent's place to watch the hockey game in their theatre and use their hot tub, so it was nice to hang out with them a bit.

    Sunday we had church and lunch with FI's parents, and then I went to the mall with FMIL and FSIL. FI was all pouty that I wasn't going to hang out with him...even though he was fully just going to fall asleep on the couch and I didn't feel like wasting my afternoon. Then back to church...for a service that went almost 40 minutes long! It was ridiculous, by the end we were trying to figure out if we could get away with leaving early.

    What a fucking asshole. Who the hell comes into someone's home and says shit like that. So rude. I can see why you're not fond of him. His GF should get out now.

  • My weekend was not at all how I thought it would be. Friday was OK. We had friends over and played board games, but one of those friends offended me with a few of her comments. She's pretty polarizing... people seem to love her or hate her... but she's FI's friend, so I smile and try to shake it off. We did play a really fun game that I'd never played before. It's called Betrayal. It's long and kind of complicated, but it was SO MUCH FUN.

    Saturday morning I had a consultation with a gum specialist for my receding gum line on my bottom front teeth. One tooth in particular is really bad-- the root is almost completely exposed. He took one look at my gums and said, "Yep, we need to do a graft. Let's do it now." And he did. Very unexpected oral surgery. Also, since it was done so quickly, they didn't have time to call in my prescriptions, and FI was still asleep and I didn't want to wake him up and make him come out to the dentist's office. I drove myself home afterwards, and I almost passed out from the pain. When I tried talking, the roof of my mouth (where they got the tissue for the graft) started bleeding profusely, so FI and I had to text each other to communicate. It was miserable. We went to the closest pharmacy and waited 40 minutes for all 4 of my prescriptions to be filled. I almost passed out there. It was not fun at all. We finally got home, and I watched Gilmore Girls in bed and took all my meds. FI made me half a green smoothie, and I forced myself to drink that and a bunch of water so I wouldn't get sick from all the meds. Later on that night when I was finally able to talk, we went to our friends' house, and they made me baked potato soup and we had a movie night.

    Yesterday we drove about an hour to meet FI's family to celebrate his brother's birthday. The meds pretty much knocked me on my butt, so I'm sure I looked like a zombie the whole time. I ate mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and a peach (of the canned variety). By the time we got home, I could barely walk. These meds don't play around!

    I was hoping that I could work from home today, but last night once the meds wore off, I woke up in a ton of pain. So, one more day of pain meds, liquid diet, minimal talking, and Gilmore Girls. Hopefully tomorrow I can get by on just ibuprofen. :-\

    Anywho, the ultracet is kicking in, so I think I need to go lay down. Happy Monday!

  • @ImCooper86 - I found a blog post here of how to convert the chair into a rocker here: http://www.mrswigglebottom.com/2011/07/turning-chair-into-swivel-rocker.html. This is a slightly smaller chair, so we will probably use thicker board for under the chair to attach the rocker base too so we know it will support the weight. I found a rocker base on Amazon for a little under $60...so that means total this chair is costing us about $300. I'm super excited about it because this chair is COMFY, we can always convert it back to a standard chair if we want...and it was WAY less expensive than purchasing a rocker intact. (most of them start in the $500+ range - no thank you!)

    I'll post picks when we get it done if our project is successful!

  • Happy Birthday, @Allusive007!

    @minskat30, I'm glad your pup is safe and sound.  How terrifying!

    @Hummingbird125, your hair looks fab!
    ----

    I'm back!  DH and I arrived home last night around 9pm.  And now it's back to work for me.  So I've spent the morning giving my boss the DL on my trip.  And sorting through a million emails.

    I'm super tired, but glad to be back.

    Missed you girls!
  • @eilis1228 hope you feel better, that sounds terrible! Do you still need more dental work or is it over for now?

    @loves2shop2shoes how was your trip?!

  • @eilis1228 - UGH feel better!!!!

    @loves2shop4shoes - Welcome back!

  • @loves2shop4shoes sounds amazing so jealous.  Glad you had a great time.

    Anniversary

  • My trip was great.  It was REALLY busy.  We were there for 10 days, and saw 6 different islands.  We stayed in a different hotel every night, and visited probably 40 hotels while we were there.

    We were lucky enough to have two days mostly "off" from my work stuff, where my responsibilities were over early in the day and we didn't have to do anything else, which was great.  We also went on a jeep safari throughout Moorea and got to feed stingrays, swim with sharks, and snorkel in Bora Bora.

    Also, we had some super nice accommodations, which was great.  In one hotel, our villa was basically inside a compound, and we had a private pool and an outdoor bathtub.  Skinnydipping and outdoor bathing ensued.  In another, we stayed in a beach bungalow, where we were literally ON the sand.  In several others, we stayed in overwater bungalows.  It was very nice.
    It's my dream to stay in an overwater bungalow! So jealous of that and the outdoor bathing and skinny dipping! Glad you had a great time.

  • @loves2shop4shoes - That sounds fabulous, I'm glad you had some downtime to enjoy being there and didn't have to spend the whole time working!

    @allusive007 - Thanks for the link; my FSIL is trying to find a rocker and not having much luck. And now I have found a new decorating blog to love. Sigh.

  • @loves2shop4shoes - I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to Tahiti! I'd love to see pics when you get a chance. How did Moorea compare to Bora Bora? We only stayed on Moorea...but I heard mixed reviews about Bora Bora. Just curious!
  • @ImCooper86 - I know, they're so expensive...and many of them aren't even that great looking. I also found this DIY option if she's interested in a wingback chair: http://interiorsbykenz.com/ikea-hack-strandmon-rocker-diy-wingback-rocking-chair/. The original chair in this one is also from Ikea, but instead of a rocker it's using actual rocking chair running boards. Looks really nice but I didn't love the colors this chair came in for us. There are so many Ikea hacks out there. Part of why I loved the chair I chose was because I really wanted a white chair, but was concerned about keeping it clean. The entire chair is a washable slipcover...and a new cover is only $29. Completely affordable to replace if it really was that ruined from a spill or something down the line. Plus they have other color options!
  • @Dignity100 the house situation with your BIL does sound frustrating. I hope it gets resolved.

    @allusive007, Happy Birthday!!!!!

    @Hummingbird125, those bouquets are gorgeous!

    @Southernpeach89 Maddux does look like a model!

    @AlPacina I'm sorry you had to deal with your BF's brother. He does sound like a jerk.

    @eilis1228 I hope you feel better!

    @minskat30 I'm glad your dog is safe!

    @loves2shop4shoes welcome back! Your trip sounds like it was amazing!
    ------------------------------------------------

    This weekend went pretty well. Friday night I just studied and watched TV until BF got home. He came home super late (around 11 pm), so we just hung out and talked (I let him vent about his stressful day) and then went to sleep.

    Saturday morning I went to pick up my specially ordered pillow from my chiropractor, and then BF and I went to the new jeweler. We loved them, and we picked out a ring and a diamond. BF paid for half of it that day! EEEEEEKKKKKK I'm really excited. It's gorgeous and perfect and I love that it will mean I get to spend forever with my best friend. Then we had lunch downtown and went back to the apartment and cleaned and relaxed.

    Yesterday I didn't feel well at all due to my period arriving early, so I just lounged all day and studied some and caught up with some friends who I hadn't talked to in a while. BF played a video game online with his brother and friends most of the day. We did start watching Gotham last night, which we are really enjoying.

    His phone kept buzzing with texts and Facebook messages while we were watching, and he's a pretty popular guy, but normally not quite that much, so I asked what was going on. He told me that he had told some of his family that he bought a ring, and now they won't leave him alone about the details of the proposal! It's cute that they are all so excited for us. Whether or not it happens before Thanksgiving, they are going to inundate us with questions as soon as we see them during that time. So I am now mentally preparing for that (and may have to make a delicious bean dip....).

    I have meetings almost all day today, but at least it means that it is a pretty easy day for me.

  • @allusive007, I'll start a thread tonight and attach some pictures for you.

    Personally, I strongly preferred Bora Bora to Moorea, though my favorite island was Tikehau.  I think Bora Bora had a nicer lagoon, nicer views, and more luxurious properties.  It is definitely more expensive than Moorea though.  By a lot.
  • @loves2shop4shoes, I'm jealous!

    My mom decided to order this dress (perhaps with some pushing from me - hey, it's her favorite color, a nice neckline for her, and she'd look great) as a possible MOB dress:
