Case of the Mondays

I want to rewind and get to do the whole weekend over again because it was wonderful. I had an awesome boozy brunch with @Swazzle, @buddysmom80, and @csousa1 and then we went to a bar and were there until about...8pm? We attempted to go to my local bar after getting home...but that didn't work out. So, we ate pizza and drank beer and went to bed. In the morning, we ate breakfast sandwiches and snuggled and watched Steel Magnolias and then they all LEFT ME. And now I'm sad.

How was everyone else's weekend?

Re: Case of the Mondays

  • I'm also sad that my weekend is over and I have the never ending pile of email waiting for me.

Friday FI and I watched the hockey game and ate Halloween candy since zero children showed up at his parents' place. I fell asleep on the couch at 9:30 and it was awesome.

Saturday I slept in and then FI and I had snuggles and watched tv and made a delicious breakfast. The only downside was that he hadn't told me it was snowing and when we went into the kitchen and I saw the snow (still coming down) I used many many bad words. Saturday afternoon was the first birthday party for my friends' son which was fun and adorable. Saturday night we just hung out and did nothing.

Sunday was church and lunch with friends and then FI drove me home so I could do a few things and go on my sister date. Wicked was fantastic, we had such a good time!! She got 4th row tickets so we could see everything SO well and it was just a realty awesome time :)

  • I had a pretty good weekend!  I was supposed to be off work at 11:30, but I ended up having to work late and be on call the rest of Friday.  we didn't get very many trick-or-treaters.  I studied while H watched Netflix and we answered the door for the few trick-or-treaters that came by.

Saturday I had my PMP class (last one is this Saturday, YES!) and then we ran some errands, ate lunch, and took a nap.  got up and got ready to go see The Grinch musical.  it was fabulous!!

Sunday we had church and I studied.  that's all.
  • oh!  and H and I got up early on Sunday morning to fit in a PIYO work out instead of sleeping away the extra hour.  I am totally high-fiving myself for that.
  • severmilli12 love your costumes!

lmcooper86 we had maybe 5 trick or treaters, so I spent all day yesterday eating candy, and the bowl is still full

Can I just say that I am so excited to not get anymore political mail?! I have a political background and am sick of it this year.  We get at least 10 flyers in the mail a day, and people kept ringing my doorbell on Saturday to give out flyers.

  • Friday I started the name change process - I did not get as far as I would have liked because I'm just exhausted.  I got back from our Disney Trip and getting married, the weekend after that I was on call (which means broken sleep).  So Friday after I went to the SSA and BMV and about 637 banks; I got home, ran a credit report on me just to make sure I knew where all my open accounts lived and then I promptly fell asleep without changing any of them.

Saturday, we went to my parents house. I had some Old Navy 'bonus cash' or whatever it's called and no real fall jacket that fits, so I went there and got a new fall jacket.  Then home and crashed.

Sunday - I got up and made guac for the football game (I figured I couldn't leave that part out), then we went and watched the Browns game.  After that we came home and pretty much crashed again.  I started laundry but forgot about it in the dryer until about now... so I'l have to deal with that when I get home, and do about 346 more loads. . .

Today I'm at work and it's going to be a busy week for me.

  • what jacket did you end up getting, @Dignity100?
  • @Hummingbird125 It sounds like @buddysmom80 's boozy bachelorette brunch was a success! I'm glad you guys had a good time! My bach ended with drunk pizza and movies too.

    @TwoDimes PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

H and I went to my parent's house for Halloween because we hadn't bought any candy (or done grocery shopping at all) since returning from our HM. My mom made baked potato soup and we watched Hocus Pocus and drank beer. We had hardly any trick or treaters this year because the temperature plummeted that evening and it started raining pretty heavily. I made sure to give big handfuls of candy to all the kids who toughed it out.

Saturday we called my bank and got H added as a USAA member and then we visited his bank to deposit our wedding cash gifts and also add me to his account. Then we went to a friend's Halloween party that was so so...her sister "organized" it which means it was pretty poorly planned and had hardly anything to munch on or drink.

Sunday H (can I say H enough :) ) visited Lowe's and bought a leaf blower because we desperately need one. It ended up taking us only 3 or 4 hours to blow/rake all the leaves in our yard and put them into yard waste bags (20 in total). This was a huge improvement over us taking days to pick up leaves. It probably also helps that we had a bunch of trees cut down this year.

Tonight I need to go home and get focused on thank you notes. I have a ton to write and haven't started on them at all. I feel really guilty cause it's already been 2 weeks since the wedding...

  • what jacket did you end up getting, @Dignity100?
I got the Women's Quilted Jacket in black, it was the only color left at my store: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=74686&vid=1&pid=978590012

Everything else just didn't look right on me, I was hoping for something a little more 'dressy', but I really like the jacket!

  • I have off today. H told me on Friday that the flooring contractor is starting today on our floors.  Yay! So instead of sleeping in on my day off I'm up normal time.  Hopefully by Friday the floors are all done.
Friday we hung out waited for trick or treaters, we didn't get too many though.  We hung around and played some board games.  Saturday we watched some college football and went to our friend's halloween party.  It was fun.  I was a penguin and H was Billy Madison.  Yesterday our god daughter got christened so we had to be at the church and then they had a party at local restaurant.  It was so much fun.  I love her, she is one of the cutest babies ever.   It was a long tiring day, so the rest of sunday night was spent on the couch relaxing and watching The Walking Dead.

I need to do a few things around the house and have an allergist appointment later.

  • @Hummingbird125 - I miss you already :(

@TwoDimes - ONE WEEK?! I'm so excited for you!!!!

@Dignity100 - I ordered three coats from ON last week because I was being indecisive and couldn't choose. I'm going to return whichever one(s) I don't like when they arrive.

    ***********

H and I managed to get completely moved out of our apartment this weekend. He did most of the work on Friday during the day and then we finished up together that night and early on Saturday. The animals are doing ok at my parent's. Lucy is totally fine, she goes there often. Brody is also fine since he's young and isn't phased by any of this. Bailey and Hailey are not doing so great. Each day is a little better but they're definitely not pleased. I miss them :(

Saturday was such a blast with the girls. Drunk Swazzle was very drunk.

Yesterday, I was bummed to have to leave so early and it took me 2 hours to finally get home which sucked. H and I went out for football (YAY EAGLES!!!!!) and then went back to my aunt's and finished unpacking. So, now I feel settled at least.

Today was my first time commuting in 7 years. I had to get up at 4:30 to catch my bus at 5:36 and be at my desk at 6:45. I AM TIRED.

  • Friday night was a bust - few people showed up for gaming and you know that one guy who's convinced he's right about everything and will talk you down, then change the subject when you prove him wrong? Yeah, he was there. We went out for Mexican afterwards and there was something seriously wrong with my margarita because normally one drink doesn't leave me passing out on the table. But we were able to go home and watch "Nightmare Before Christmas" - hey, it means a lot to FI and me.

Saturday I knitted dishcloths all day. In the late evening I started taking inventory and packing for the show this weekend. I have 9 baby afghans, 38 fluffy scarves, 51 coffee cup cozies, 27 baby hats, 169 small (5"x7") dishcloths, 15 sets of cotton makeup removal pads, and 22 large (9"x9"+) dishcloths (plus how many more I make this week by Wednesday). In addition, I have "sweater-in-progress" ornaments, depending on how many itty-bitty skeins of yarn I get wound by Friday night. I have inventory, y'all.

Sunday was for football and more knitting. That Broncos-Patriots game was just tough to watch.
  • @Swazzle - that commute sucks!!!
  • @KeptInStitches - I watched Nightmare before Christmas on Halloween night too :)

@Swazzle - Your commute sounds horrible, I wish you much coffee in your day and much wine in your evening tonight.

  • I'm having a grumpy monday. I didn't sleep well and I'm not feeling great this morning. It's cold and rainy and grey here...and I just want to crawl back into bed. We have a 2:30 company-wide meeting where they're pretty much going to say "yes, this is layoff week", so I'm not looking forward to this week at all. At least we'll all finally know our fates and we can get this over with! I'm done feeling anxious and stressed...and being around people who feel the same way all day long. Let's get this *&#^ over with!

@allusive007 You'll be through it soon! My dad was laid off recently and the worst part for him was waiting for it and knowing it was coming...he felt so much better after it happened...it was almost a relief for everything to be official. I hope you feel better!

  • I need a do-over for this weekend. Friday night H and I were going to meet the girls at their dad's house to see them off trick-or-treating. We were about halfway to their house when I got a call from the school after 6pm saying that the girls were still there! I had talked to their dad that morning and he said he would pick them up after work to get dressed etc, but he never did! So we had to turn around and drive back to the school to pick the girls up. They ended up trick-or-treating in our community instead since they didn't want to miss out. I was so upset for them because they didn't have costumes at my house since they were supposed to be with their dad this year. They were happy to go in their costumes from the storybook parade though.

Saturday both girls had a soccer game. We had our 2nd cold front of the week move through on Saturday, so it was pretty cold for us, and windy. I ended up getting really badly chapped lips that STILL hurt. The girls were at a Halloween party and sleepover Saturday night, and the little one called to come home around 8:30. She had run face first into their sliding glass door and she just wanted to come home. Which ended up leading to a sleepless night for us because she doesn't sleep alone and was on top of both of us throughout the night.

Sunday we had another soccer game and then came home to watch Manning v Brady which turned out to not be much of a competition, so it got replaced with catching up on our shows. @Swazzle - Stalker scared the ever loving shit out of me this week. I was too scared to go to the bathroom alone after that one lol

  • @Hummingbird125 - Steel Magnolias? Did your house even have enough tissues? Four women watching that movie together. I can only imagine the amount of tears/snot.

@severmilli12 - Those Irish drinks sound favulous! Also, you make an adorable Ox!

@CocoBellaF - Was the Grinch musical a touring production? Or did you go see it in a city? How is the music for that one?

@TwoDimes - Yay for being a doggie mama! I can't wait for pictures!

@speakeasy14 - I get tons of political ads in the mail, but thank god I don't get people knocking on my door! That's awful!

    @Dignity100 - I have a feeling that you're not super good at counting....... :P

@Swazzle - I'm so sorry you're not with your kitties right now. I'm glad you had the drunk brunch to give you a little relaxation time and get your mind off the shit storm.

@KeptInStitches - Damn lady! That's some serious knitting!

    -----------------------

I had a fabulous weekend! On halloween we had pizza, beer, and candy, and watched Nightmare Before Chrismas and The Exorcist. Then we went to bed at a very reasonable time because BF had to work Saturday morning.

On Saturday my friend met me at my house after BF had left, we grabbed breakfast, and then headed to my absolute favorite christmas bazaar in the area. There is a lady there every year with her paintings, and by the time I get there almost everything is sold normally. So I got there early, waited in line, and went to her booth first. I got a BEAUTIFUL painting that she painted on a huge old window, so it is heavy as hell, but it has an amazing old wood frame. I own my first piece of art!! Overall, I only went 60 bucks over budget for the day, but I've already got a couple of christmas presents covered now.

That night BF and I tried to watch Monuments Men, but we both passed out around our regular bedtime, so I'll have to try that one again later.

Sunday, BF bought an Xbox One, which is awesome because he left me alone about cross stitching too much while he was busy setting everything up. I'm just waiting for him to buy a game now so I can get some serious stocking finished. I made a ton of progress this weekend. Which unfortunately doesn't actually look like a ton of progress.

  • @AlPacina - it was a toured production, but used some of our local talent as well.  we live in the big city of the state.  the music and dancing was absolutely wonderful!!
  • @CocoBellaF, @Dignity100, @Peaseblossom55, @TwoDimes, @AlPacina - Thanks guys! The commute and being away from the babies definitely DOES suck. Hopefully we all start to get used to it soon, though!

@Ollie08 - Oh! I don't think I watched last week's episode but I have my iPad and wifi here at work so maybe I'll watch now. I'm nervous.

@AlPacina - I was the only one that cried! It's my favorite movie of all time, I can quote it word for word and I was the only one that cried. Buncha heartless bitches!

Are you fucking kidding me?!? Sally Field is heartbreaking at the funeral! I bawl my eyes out every single time!

  • @Swazzle - I'm just thankful we don't have basements here. I swear I'd never go into an unfinished basement ever. I'm just too much of a chicken. Even H was unnerved by it! It was sooo good.

Confession: I've never watched Steel Magnolias in its entirety.

  • @ollie08 what happened with the girls' dad??

I stayed in the whole weekend since is was freezing, raining & snowing. Gross weather. I got some laundry done and spent the rest of my time catching up on Once Upon a Time and looking at wedding stuff on Pinterest.

  • @lavenderfields13 - It was so stupid. Despite having talked in the morning about him picking them up, his wife told him that I was bringing them with me. Which I never said. I told her that I was bringing their clothes with me, but not them. I didn't get out of work until after 5 and still had to get everything ready for the weekend. I didn't want them to have to wait on me, so XH was supposed to pick them up. Neither one confirmed, just assumed. And if I had left 15 minutes earlier like I'd intended, I would have been at their house realizing the girls weren't there! I was SO peeved.

  • My weekend was pretty low-key. Got my hair cut and colored on Saturday morning; I think my bangs are too short, so I'm taking biotin to try to grow them faster in the next week and a half. Also picked up materials to make signs for the reception (e.g. what drinks are served at the bar), deposited some bonds, and bought some groceries.

Most of the weekend, I was honestly fast asleep because of my infusion.

There's something that's stressing me out that I'm going to create a new thread for.

  • @alpacina I thought it was jehovah's witnesses at first, no one else rings my doorbell because they're terrified of my dog (my fedex and ups guys just leave packages on the front steps and leave). I was so surprised it was people with flyers telling me who to vote for, especially after I didn't even have kids ringing my doorbell the night before.

@twodimes yay for things for the house!

Peaseblossom55 I can't wait till my floors are done.

allusive007 sending positive thoughts your way!

Ollie08 OMG! At least the costumes you made for the storybook parade were awesome, and the girls were still able to go trick or treating.

lavenderfields13 yuck that weather is no fun! It wasn't rainy or snowy here but really cold and windy, a lot of people lost power because of the wind. I am not ready for winter.

  • @ollie08 ugh I'd be really pissed too

  • @allusive007 - I don't know what to tell you - I hope this week goes quickly and as painless as possible.

@Ollie08 - At least the kids got the candy, that's probably what's currently important to them.

    @AlPacina - I might have a problem over exaggerating a little ;-) .

@Swazzle - hopefully you don't HAVE to get used to the commute and things work out for you sooner than expected!!!
