What's up with your Wednesday?

It's 7:15am and I've been at work for an hour which is 11 hours and 30 minutes from when I left here last night. I had a major, major work issue (not my fault but I had to deal with it because it's my job) that kept me here for a full 12 hours yesterday. H and I had a Devils game last night and with the drive home, we didn't go to bed until 11:30. I AM TIRED. I have a double shot of espresso in my homemade latte this morning and I am 99.99999999% sure that it won't be the only one I drink today.

I wasn't able to vote last night which makes me sad. The one that I would have been voting for, though, (since I'm between homes at the moment and other things don't really pertain to me anymore where I'm registered to vote) was Cory Booker for Senator and he won so that makes me very happy. He's one of my favorites.

I predict this is going to be a reeeeeally long day.

OH! MY BESTEST FRIEND IS BECOMING A HOMEOWNER IN 5.5 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!! EARLY CONGRATS, @GOLDENPENGUIN! GET MY ROOM READY AND TELL BRADY I'M COMING FOR TUMMY SNUGS!

Re: What's up with your Wednesday?

  • Sucks about work @Swazzle.  Hopefully you can get out on time today :)  Enjoy your caffeine!

    Since BF switched jobs at work we've had the past few mornings together.  It's been really nice.

    Not excited about going to work.  The Anti-Union representative in our state won the race for Governor last night.  I'm sure that everybody's scared and uncertain and will be in a shitty mood for a while.

  • @swazzle -Eek sorry about work...I hope that caffeine helps today.

    Speaking of caffeine, I have finally transitioned from caffeinated coffee to decaff! I don't notice a huge difference and I feel better at the end of the day instead of feeling like I'm about to fall asleep. I'm happy this change wasn't horrible.

    I'm not very happy because my skin is breaking out like I'm going through puberty. I don't know why or how this has happened because I haven't had this type of break out in a long time....I think my skin is too dry so it's trying to overcompensate the amount of moisture it produces in which causing a breakout from hell.

    Also, both my car and H's car have new shoes. I'm broke thanks to H's tires popping all the time and my tires were just freaking old.

    Happy Wednesday!
  • that sucks about work @swazzle. I'd be exhausted, I need a lot of sleep to function!

    I'm a little disappointed with who won the governor's race in my state. I admit I didn't follow the whole thing but once I started reading up on the people I didn't really want this Republican to win. It was an extremely close race. I didn't love the Democrat either so I voted United Independent. Apparently the guy that ran just created this United Independent party and needed 3% of the vote to make that party apart of the primaries going forward? He got just over 3%. My hope is that someday people will start voting more for the Independent - our only focus is on Republicans and Democrats and I don't think it's right.

  • @swazzle I love that Cory Booker won...he rocks. I also love that @goldenpenguin is becoming a homeowner today. I do NOT love that you had to work 12 hours. That is the suck.

    For me, it's just another day in paradise. /sarcasm font
    And if I stay on here much longer, I may end up fired...so Love to you all!!! xoxoxo I miss you...

  • @swazzle sorry about your 12 hour day. Those are no fun.
    @goldenpenguin good luck on your closing today!!! so exciting!

    I went to bed early last night and I STILL woke up tired.  Being an adult is stupid.  Last night, H did 3 loads of laundry all by himself and even folded them AND put them away.  He's the best. I hate doing laundry.

    Today I only have 4 inmates on my list to see so I am spending the rest of the day doing CBT's  -_-   Not real thrilled about it.  I hate computer training.

  • Today I will find out if I still have a job or not. No idea when they'll call me up to the board room, but it's going to be a long day regardless. Most of the company went to a local bar last night to have a drink before the big day. (I actually had an awesome virgin mojito!) It's sad knowing it may be the last time I see some of these people. Depressing really. I'm hoping everyone has success whether they stay or go...but today is sure to be filled with a lot of tears and hugs. I'm not looking forward to it.
  • @swazzle I'm sorry you've had such long days, that really sucks.  Hopefully today is a normal day and you can get a good night of rest tonight.

    @GoldenPenguin Yay you own a home today! Congrats!!

    @Twodimes We are looking at getting a king matress some time next year.  We just want a bigger bed.  Within a year we paid for a wedding, honeymoon and a down payment for a house it's rough but exciting.

    @southernpeach89 I'm breaking out horribly too right now.  I have a nice big pimple at the end of my nose today.  I stopped using my prescription acne meds  because my doctor said I can't use them when TTC for some reason.

    I'm whiney today.  The house is a disaster.  I've been a clutz all morning dropping things spilling things.  It's ok for cats to eat oatmeal right? The tiling is done on 75% of the floor it looks so nice even though it's not finished.  The contrator was there until almost 8 last night.  It was nice he was staying so long to get things done but we wait until after he left to eat dinner.  I can't wait until the week is over though.  Since the house is a disaster no work out have been happening either.

    I hope 5pm gets here quickly today.

  • @Swazzle - UGH, boo to that work day! I hope your coffee kicks in and today is shorter.

    @allusive007 - Sending so many job vibes! I hope it turns out okay, but at least the waiting will be over today one way or another.

    Another exciting day of (drumroll) EMAIL!!! Honestly, I can't believe some of the stuff I get. I swore at a number of emails yesterday, but on the plus side my inbox is almost cleared.

    FI and I decided on a DJ last night and I've emailed the florist we plan on hiring to find out if we're ever getting our quote. She came highly recommended by FI's aunt (who's a wedding planner) so I'm really not sure what's taking so long.

    Nothing planned for tonight. I have some cleaning to do around the house and FI and I still haven't watched Homeland...so probably that.

    @Swazzle, your work day yesterday sucks.

    I am down in the dumps about the governor's race results.  I was so shocked!  @futuremrshistorian, maybe we need to drown our sorrows in some desserts and coffee and delicious carbs after that.

    two weeks from today is when I want to sit for my PMP exam.  YIKES.

    @allusive007, I'll be thinking about you today!!  hoping everything turns out alright.
  • @allusive007 hope things go well for you today. I thought you were supposed to find out the other day? why are they dragging this out for people? :(

  • @southernpeach89 - I have very oily skin usually and I'm starting to feel very dry from the weather. I ordered a new moisturizer that's more for combo skin, hoping it'll help.

    @lavenderfields13 - I kind of wish the party titles didn't exist. I wish people would research the issues and base their vote on that alone. I know too many people that vote directly with their party and call it a day. I'd almost rather those people didn't vote at all.

    @beanbot2002 - I MISS YOU!

    @severmilli12 - Being an adult IS stupid. I'm with you there.

    @TwoDimes - Yay for king-sized beds!!!! H and I own a queen but where we're staying we have a full and it is really hard to get used to. I miss my bed!

    @allusive007 - Good luck today. Sending you all the vibes.

    @Peaseblossom55 - I have to pick up my BM dress for goldenpenguin's wedding tonight right after work and then I'm making soup so I have lunch for the rest of the week and going STRAIGHT to bed. I really can't wait to see pics of your kitchen!

    @lmcooper86 - Yay for choosing your DJ! I feel like we haven't heard too much about people's WR plans lately or else I've completely missed it which is entirely possible. We have to watch Homeland too. And Walking Dead. And Gotham. And American Horror Story. UGH!

    @cocobellaf - Two more weeks and it'll be over and you'll have your certification!

  • @lavenderfields13 I'm also bummed out to wake up to a Republican governor. We need a new voting system in the US. Have you watched the election series on Youtube by CGP Grey? He goes into a ton of detail about why voting systems don't work, and ways to improve them. One of my favorite points he makes is that it's absurd that a candidate can win an election without 50%+ of the vote. He also points out ways to make 3rd party candidates feasible without resulting in the spoiler effect (like when people voted for Ralph Nader all those years ago when they would have preferred Dem over Rep).

    ----------

    Fatigue is hitting me hard today. The stress of work (teaching AND research) + birdo's health problems (which mean I have to miss work tomorrow afternoon) + wedding planning + I need to not eat the rest of the time leading up to the wedding + my grandparents + the apartment is a mess = I really just want to disappear from the planet for a while and just sort of gather myself.

  • Oh heyyyyy.

    What up ladies?  Today is just another Wednesday.  I'm trying to focus on work since we have two conferences coming up next month, but I'm at the part of the work/motivation curve that is "overwhelmed."  So, I'd rather do nothing.

    I'm also on the fence about election results.  I did my research before I voted and I felt like there was no good answer.  I also hate that Comstock won, although I really shouldn't be surprised.

    @Swazzle - I'm sorry work is awful.  Hopefully you can get home on time tonight and get some real sleep.

    @allusive007 - Sending you all the vibes!  And also, congratulations on the little one!!

    @cocobellaf - You're going to do so well on your PMP exam!!  It's going to be awesome and then it will be done and you will have all of the work options!!

    @southernpeach89 - I tried the switch to half regular, half decaf. It ended poorly.  Must have the caffeine.  I am impressed with your switching power!

    @peaseblossom55 - I can't wait to see pictures of your kitchen!  It's going to be so worth the mess once it's done!!

  • @swazzle, sorry about your work issue.  That sucks, and sounds exhausting.

    @goldenpenguin, YAYYYY!  So happy for you and your new house.

    @beanbot2002, why do you think you're getting fired?  What's happening at work now?  Have you started looking for other jobs?

    @allusive007, Job VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIBES.

    @phira, I hear you on wanting to disappear from the planet while you sort out stress.  Disappearing party together?

    @peekaboo2011, Welcome back, hoar.

    ---------------

    As for me, it's just another Wednesday.  I got a lot done at the end of the day yesterday, and ended up working late.  I've gotta get better about pacing my work out throughout the day, instead of a mad dash to finish.

    I'm gunna check out of work a little early today.  I've been working long hours and my coworker worked from home yesterday because our boss is in London this week.  I think I'll leave an hour or two early and not do a fucking thing "work from home" the rest of the day.  I'm exhausted.

    And I've got therapy today.  YAY!

  • I'm so happy it's Wednesday. More than halfway through the week. I finally had a good night's sleep last night, but I'm still tired. And my freaking eye is STILL twitching. Admittedly, not as bad as yesterday. I had a nightmare last night about the wedding I'm photographing in a few weeks. I dreamed I didn't take ANY photos at the reception of the people there. I only got a handful of pics of the ceremony, some posed ones, and completely flaked on the rest. Maybe I'm feeling unprepared?

    @Swazzle - Ugh, that's the suck getting stuck at work so late. I hope today's a regular day for you. I'd be snoozing at my desk!

    @GoldenPenguin - YOU'RE GOING TO BE A HOMEOWNER!!!!

    @beanbot2002 - I miss your face

    @southernpeach89 - I can't believe you did it! I know you had mentioned weaning off of caffeine. You're my hero.

    @phira No i have not seen that. I've never been into politics but all of a sudden I feel like I really want to learn more. I need to be more knowledgeable, it's just not interesting to me like it is to some people. I know the voting system sucks- it's one of those things that I feel like people don't agree with it but what are we supposed to do to change it? It's depressing,
    So many people on my FB page are pro Baker. Nothing I read about him impressed me and Karyn Polito's anti gay past really worries me.

    Anyways- less than 2 weeks until your wedding! NO wonder you're stressed!

    ETA: wrong words

  • @lavenderfields13 - We have had multiple meetings over the past 4 weeks. This Monday they shared that our corporation plans to sell our company - so that changes everything when deciding whether you are hoping to stay or go. Yesterday we found out what the new org chart looks like and who our leadership will be going forward. Today we find out our individual situations. It's been a long week...and they really are dragging it out. I really don't think it's their intent to make this harder on people though. I think they're trying to do the right thing.

    For me, the most important factor in all of this is having health insurance. Given that i'm pregnant, having that in jeopardy couldn't come at a worse time. Many of the available jobs right now are contract - so no benefits. I'm just hoping I can stay with my current company, that they don't sell us until after baby G is born...and then I can look for another job if the purchasing company doesn't want to keep me.

  • @swazzle, more caffeine!

    @southernpeach89, welcome to the land of decaf.

    @twodimes, there were two measures on my state's ballot that, if they had passed, I would have considered moving. One was to remove the state board of higher education, which would have directly impacted my job, and the second stated that the right to life at every stage must be protected. No, I can't see how that could go wrong at all.

    @allusive007, good job vibes for you.

    @lmcooper86, yay DJ!

    @peekaboo2011, welcome back.

    @behsco90, it's like ripping off a bandaid. The quicker done, the less felt.

    @phira, less than 2 weeks! I hope life settles down for you.
    ---
    Church tonight. Supper is hot dogs. I think. Finish the last dishcloth - my hands are saying "no more cotton" because I hurt when I knit with cotton. There's no give to it. Tomorrow my mom and I sit down and finish the sweater-in-progress ornaments. Friday I tag. Today is FI's Friday, so I'm hoping he does housework like I want him to and is generally cooperative while I'm busy dealing with show prep.

    Today I have a proposal that has a tight turnaround time and a white paper, so off I go to be productive!
  • @lavenderfields13 HOW DID I FORGET YOU WERE ALSO IN MA AHHHH.

    I've been getting more and more into politics as I've gotten older. But it is so very, very frustrating, so I tend to be pretty understanding of people who are just like, "UGH, no thanks, politics."

    I'm happy to see that Question 4 won, though--earned sick time!

    And yeah, 11 days to go. It's really surreal.

    @KeptInStitches - I'm hoping it's as easy as ripping off a band-aid...I keep telling myself, what's the worst that can happen?  They just fire me on the spot (which I doubt they would) and then I just start my new job earlier...

    @twodimes, nope, they didn't pass. Sigh of relief last night.

    ETA: And the main sponsors of the "right-to-life" measure lost their bids for re-election.
  • @behsco90 - Hell yes! I'm in Portland.... Although I think we're considering buying our house in Washington, whenever that happens. Hbu?

    @allusive007 - I am truly wishing the best for you and your new family. Man, the timing for your job shit really could not be worse. :(

    @Allusive007 - I'm sending lots of job vibes your way! *hugs*

    They are still counting votes in Colorado for governor, I'm surprised at who won for Senate. But I don't vote Republican or Democrat so I already knew my candidate wouldn't win but the votes on a couple of amendments went my way so I'm happy about that.

    I'm having my first session with my new personal trainer. I'm excited! It's nice to not absolutely dread going to the gym. I'm really hoping I click with this person.

  • @Peekaboo2011 hello stranger! I hope to post pics sometime this weekend.  We will probably need to do some touch up painting over the weekend too.

    @allusive007 sending job vibes to you

  • @phira yeah I was happy with the outcome of all the ballot questions- everything I voted for won.
    Baker is AGAINST paid sick time. boo

    @bethsmiles good luck with your new trainer, I hope you click too! It's so hard to get motivated to work out so hopefully this person works

  • @swazzle UGH, I hope you're able to get home at a decent time tonight and pass out! Any updates on the house? I know we ask daily. I've been keeping my fingers and toes and all other appendages crossed for you.

    @southernpeach89 My skin was really funky last week. I think it's the change in season? I used some spot treatments last week, and this week my skin is back to normal. Hopefully your skin levels out soon! Acne as an adult is no fun at all.

    @TwoDimes I can't wait to get a king-size mattress. I'm so jealous! FI is 6'2", so I definitely understand about tall guys taking up the whole bed.

    @allusive007 You're in my thoughts today! I hope they at least talk to you soon so that you don't spend the whole day worrying. I'm sending good vibes your way! <3

    @peaseblossom55 Oh geez, contractors working until 8pm doesn't sound fun at all. I'm glad they're working hard though and will hopefully stick to the timeline for the floor installation. I can't wait to see pics when it's all done!

    @phira Wow, that's a lot on your plate in a short period of time. I hope that Birdo takes a turn for the better ASAP so that you can at least get some sleep. I know the wedding has been a huge source of stress for you, but you're almost there! This is the home stretch! Soon you and J will be married, and all of this chaos will be a memory.

    @behsco90 Good luck today! I hope your boss is there and the conversation goes smoothly.

    @KeptInStitches Hot dogs sound fabulous right now. Yum!

    I've been lurking here a lot lately and not posting-- transitioning back into the land of the living has been chaotic. Catching up on work, bills, social plans, etc has kept me on my toes, that's for sure. The roof of my mouth is still healing, so my eating is still somewhat limited, and talking sometimes hurts, but overall I'm about 85% better. My appointment to have my stitches removed was moved up to this Saturday, which is friggin awesome. I'm ready to be back to normal.

    Tomorrow I leave for a tiny conference in the Midwest. I'm not really looking forward to it. Once I land, I have to drive another two hours to get to the conference, and then turn around the next day and drive 2 hours back to the airport to come home. I'll land back home around 9pm on Friday. Yay fun.

    Saturday after I get my stitches out, FI and I are going to my little brother's swim meet nearby. He's a senior this year, so we wanted to make sure we went to one or two of his meets. Afterwards I'll probably nap, and then we're doing something Saturday night for a friend's birthday. Busy busy!

    I'm also trying to schedule engagement pictures for next week. Just waiting on my photographer to get back to me with dates. I may call him later this afternoon just to check in. FI needs more than a day's notice so that he can schedule his work day appropriately, and I want to make an appointment to have my makeup done.

    As for the election talk, I'm a terrible citizen and didn't vote. I know it's a terrible attitude to have, but where I live, Republicans always win by a landslide, so it doesn't really feel necessary to vote. Additionally, even though I submitted my new address a few months ago, I was still registered at the house where I grew up, which is about an hour away without traffic. With traffic, it can take about 2 hours, and I didn't feel like dealing with traffic all day to vote for candidates who would not win anyway. I suck, I know. I'll get my registration squared away before the 2016 election and vote then.

    I finished reading 11/22/63 last night. I really liked it! I thought it could have been trimmed down a bit, but the last quarter or so of the book was fantastic. I couldn't put it down! I'm not sure what I'll read next... going to have to explore my Kindle a bit at lunch.
