Re: It happened to me :(

  • All I can think of right now is that Michael Jackson eating popcorn meme!
  • Okay, I found this and now I have to post it.

This! Honestly, with this kind of crazy I doubt any excuse will appease her if you choose to drop out so I'd just be honest and tell her that you don't feel comfortable taking someone's place in the bridal party.

"Wait, you're not actually engaged? Oh sorry, then nevermind. I'm not able to be a BM in a fake wedding. "

I'd doubt her BF will actually give her the ring once he realizes this crazy shit she is doing. Hell, the ring might not even be for her. . . He might have a mistress!

    Unless she's the mistress...
  • As someone who is currently in the same situation as your friend (BF has the ring, waiting for a proposal), this is all I was thinking while reading about how much she has done:

    image

There should be 0 craft days planned or any other events planned as of right now, she shouldn't have "bridesmaids" because she is not a bride, and should not be buying things or putting deposits for vendors/a venue down.

Send her over to NEY. We will set her straight.

  • I quite like your use of the name "Crazypants." But this is pretty out there, she's a whole crazy suit with a matching crazy fedora.

So is there really a ring or is it more of a "well I'm sure he HAS a ring" situation?  And how does the Possibly Future Mr. Crazypants feel about this?

  • NGL, FI had me pre-planning. He said I ought to check things out and get ducks in rows. He asked a few months later.

I agree with PPs - time to run!

"I'm honored you've asked me, but unfortunately, I will not be able to accept. I'm moving to Yemen."

I love all of your replies, but this gif wins!

@mrsdee15‌ - She is a TOTAL crazy suit with a fedora! With like, crazy feathers and tassels and shit.

Possibly Mr. Future Crazypants supposedly does have the ring, according to her mom. He also supposedly knows all of this is going on and just doesn't want HER to back out.

ETA: she has apparently read all the emails between mom and Possibly Mr. Future Crazypants/suit/fedora with feathers and tassels.

@KatieinBkln‌ - That is SO Me and probably what I will do lol. I'm such a coward. HATE confrontation.

Update: Nothing exciting. She texted me a couple hours ago and said "So I get to see you tomorrow?!" I'm still currently too terrified to answer lol. I know, I know! I'm a terrible excuse for an adult. Here goes nothing, I guess.

Okay, I did it. Should I post what I said, or do you guys think it's too much info? I mean...I've already given enough info for her to guess who I am and what this is talking about, should she discover TK and venture over to the Etiquette board. Highly unlikely though, lol.

And she HAS replied. I am terrified to look. Baby steps, lol

  • Ok, I'm glad I'm not in trouble. At least, not obvious trouble. But you guys will be underwhelmed, lol.

I went with the "feed her ego" approach.

Houndpuppy: I have to break my promise. I really need to spend the weekend studying. I honestly think I got really excited about being apart of your big day and I was so honored you asked me that I automatically jumped to "yes yes yes!". We talked about this and I said I wouldn't do it (she told me not to back out that evening, lol), but after thinking and doing the math, I don't think i will have the time or resources to devote to being a full blown bridesmaid and assist in making your big day as perfect as you deserve. I'm really bummed that I'm having to say this and I KNOW you're going to be upset, but please try to understand. If you want to remain friends, I will definitely be here for emotional support!

Crazypantsuitwithfedorafeathersandtassels: Ok. I understand completely. I hope it's not something I did.

Houndpuppy: Not at all! You didn't have a chance to do anything =p I hope I at least gave you enough time to find someone else.

Crazyblahblah: I'm not asking anyone else. I'm sure others will drop out.

Houndpuppy: Why do you say that?

No answer to my last question. But I'm pretty sure she's cursing me to hell right now, lol.
She can get over it. You did good.

  • @beethery I'm glad you approve :) I tried to use proper vocab and a general tone of ass-kissing.

She shouldn't have shit to say about you, and if she does, she can blow it out her ass. YOU, madame, are in the clear. GOOD JOB!

@ohannabelle - I agree. I'm too ecstatic about my dodge that I hadn't even registered the self-pity. Now watch her decide to join TK and see this....

Baby, I'm gonna tell you now, etiquette isn't her strong suit. I bet she won't even bother looking here.

  • Also, I would just like to add, that if anyone remembers any of my posts or cares to look at my history, my ring has officially been pur-chased.

I'm obviously the dude in the pink..but a woman..
  • I had an acquaintance who had a dress and BOOKED A VENUE before proposing was even a twinkle in her boyfriend's eye. He eventually did, and they have been married for years, but I still wonder if he knows he had a wedding date before he even had a fiancee.
