It's funny that all of you are all about the Sorels. I really didn't like the pairs I've had previously which is why I bought the damn Uggs to begin with...and they kept me so warm through last winter so I was so impressed with myself for making the switch. Until they split in half, anyway.

ETA: I live in a frozen, snowy wasteland from like October to May so I've been through many, many pairs of stupid boots.

I had some Khombu snow boots for years and years until I literally wore a hole through the bottom. If you don't like Sorels, you could give those a shot.

Yeah I've had my Sorels for years and they are still going strong. Those suckers will never split in half. I live in an area that can get multiple feet of snow in one night and I do not have a garage, so I gotta have some serious boots. Serious, heavy duty, waterproof boots. Uggs would never cut it.

I live in prairie Canada - it's so cold here that you barely need waterproofing because the snow isn't even the wet kind most of the time. My Uggs were legitimately more practical than every stupid rubbery pair of winter boots I'd had before because they kept my feet so much warmer. Literally the first pair of boots I've ever had that my feet didn't get cold in. I'm totally bummed that I have to go back to something else. You can all keep your other brands and I'm going to mourn my warm feet for a while longer, lol.

  • Being on the phone with Sony warranty department. I have a brand new phone that I pre-ordered. I dropped it the first day (before my case came in) and shattered the back. I need a new one. They have asked me the same question, "What is the serial number" at least 17 times. They've had me look in no less than 5 different places. It's all the same number, but they disagree. Since their numbers always start with SN. Well this one doesn't, and I am getting pissed because they are acting like I'm too stupid to figure this out.

  • I'm looking for snow boots.  Fact is I never needed them since I lived in the islands.

I'm going to have to check out Sorels.

  • I have EMU boots. They are super warm and comfortable, but are not at all practical for midwest snow. Especially on account of the giant slits on each side. You know, for fashion.

So, Sorels. Are they ugly? (Like Emus and Uggs, hahaha) Because I would really like some functional winter boots that are also not hideous.

I just went and looked up Sorels because I had no idea what they were. Now I want a pair because my duck boots finally died last year.

Some are worse than others. Most of the ones I've seen this year seem to have crazy faux fur tops, which are either awesome or awful, I'm not sure. But they're certainly not uglier than Uggs or anything...

Have you shared the gofundme page on facebook yet?  That's the ONLY way those work....
  • You all are killing me.  Now I want to run out to a shoe store to try on snow boots.   Sadly it's 1pm and still no repair guy.  No call when he will be here either.

My luck he will come just as the shoe store closes.  We are suppose to get more snow this weekend.  Time is of the essences.   Okay, maybe I'm being a tad dramatic.

Not ugly at all. They just look like some serious winter boots and I feel like a badass when I wear them. They come in lots of different styles too! Check em out on Amazon, sometimes they're on sale there.

HA! Ok, that does sound...weird. I just wanted my freaking money's worth out of my overpriced lemonade. More lemonade, less ice.

So, I googled. They are acceptable. I actually love the faux fur. I don't love that a lot of them look like ugly duck boots (Sorry @emmaaa! Definitely not a fan.)
  • So thanks to you people I now want these.

    image

But ya know...I live in the desert so I can't really justify $150 for a pair of snow boots.
  • I got my first pair of Sorels this year and I love them. Keep my feets warm and dry in nasty northern Canada Winter.

Not offended at all! I had my duck boots for function, not fashion. I used them for occassional snow or cold rain and hunting because they are way warmer than most hunting boots and waterproof.

  • I want those damn Joan of Arctic boots. . . .
