Whoa.  What a fucking bitch!!  I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!

Thanks. It was fine because it wasn't like someone grabbed my hand and tried to drag me up while it was happening. If she was looking for me or called my name out, I don't know because I didn't hear it so that doesn't bother me. She ended up looking like an idiot saying that to me after the fact. The rest of my friends who were there are down to earth and snarky. It would have been like her saying it in front of all of you guys to me. I just do not understand the way some people think. ETA: missed lolo's comment. There may have been violence had someone pressed the issue with me physically at the time. Fortunately for them, no violence to report.

    ----BOXES

Ugh. I don't see myself doing a bouquet toss. Never liked participating in them.

That invitation...what a mess. How can anyone be that clueless?

  • I think I'm officially threadjacking.

So one time I attended a wedding and the toss bouquet was on display at the cake table. I was married at the time and didn't participate in the toss but was checking out their beautiful cake and saw the bouquet and read the tag. The toss bouquet had 5x7 sized note attached to it with ribbon. It said something puke worthy. I took a photo of it, it's somewhere. But it was something along the lines of "I'm married, you're not. Keep dreaming and believing that your magical day will one day happen for you too and you can be a princess." It was far longer and more pinteresty than that. Freaking horrified that she wrote that message to whomever caught the bouquet.

  • Would have loved to know the reaction of the girl who won the bouquet when she read that. Jeez.

  • I saw her catch it but not read the note.

What did your mutual friend think of this? That is so incredibly rude to give the friend the invite to pass along to you.

I'm with Lolo on the whole being invited to an event by a deceased person. That was horrible wording and probably offensive to those who knew the deceased.

And the bouquet thing? Oh hell no. I was recently a guest at a wedding for the first time since my divorce and just happened to be out on the patio (big glass windows looking into the reception) during the bouquet toss. Someone suggested we go back inside and my genius instincts that someone would be an asshole and encourage me to go onto the dance floor for it made me stay outside. Later, the MOH came up to me in front of a large group of mutual friends and said she had been looking everywhere for me for the bouquet toss. And where was I? Really? What fucking planet are you from that you think that would be something to seek me out over and encourage me to do. I flat out told her that I'm glad she couldn't find me because that would have been an absolutely horrible experience for me in a pretty firm tone with a deadpan face.

Mutual friend was given my invite quite early so she didn't know she wasn't invited at the time. She was really hurt by the whole deliver this invite to an event you are not invited to and hasn't been hanging out with the bride. That bouquet toss story is awful.

    Anniversary
  • I think if I were ever at a wedding where someone taunted me into joining a bouquet toss like that then I would have turned right around, marched straight to the gift table, taken my gift, and walked out.
  • ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The English language contains no words that would give this ?????? justice.
  • Ugh, its the worst getting called out. My SIL did this to me at her wedding. She even got the DJ to call me out over the speakers. It was the worst. Can't say I'm bummed out they're divorcing now.
