AW/PIP: Let's try this again...

Re: AW/PIP: Let's try this again...

  • @goldenpenguin Our stove/oven is old and super shitty, and we burn everything even when we're careful. The stove settings are clearly higher than they say they are; for low heat, we have to use the "warm" setting. It does mean that water boils really quickly, but again, everything burns.

As for our oven, it's absurd: even when a thermometer says, "Your oven is at the right temperature!" everything gets burned. We think that our oven might have broken/aged in such a way that it's now a convection oven. Either way, we bake everything 25 degrees lower than suggested and it's helped a LOT.

  • @phira - It's mostly just getting used to gas vs. electric. I had a gas stove in an old apartment a long time ago, so it's just relearning the nuances between the two. I have been getting better, and I've never burned anything in the oven, just on the burners. I love having a gas stove, and ours is fairly new, I just need to get used to it again :)

  • @swazzle-I made the mistake of listening to my mother who hates to cook, and believes there should be one more microwave than person living in the house. I remember a point in my childhood where there were four microwaves. I should've trusted my gut, since I loooovvvee cooking and baking and entertaining and set my kitchen up to do so. Funny enough, the second microwave is having some sort of issue right now, and I'm only upset about it because that's the one I use as a kitchen timer. I *might* use that as an excuse to look at putting a small oven on top, since that would be far more useful to me,

Such a cute house! I especially love the cabinets, and it's absolutely adorable from the outside. :) Congratulations!!

  • @GoldenPenguin - That is a major :::sousface::: situation. Practice makes perfect!

@eilis1228 - I don't know that I even knew they existed! We went to my aunt's house that night for dinner and she had a double oven too that I apparently had never noticed. She's lived there for years.

@phira, @GoldenPenguin - The oven in my apartment was terrible. It burned every single thing I put in it. Sometimes I would camp out in front of the door, watching and waiting (and shit would still burn).

@MsSparky - That's really funny! I love a good microwave but I don't think I could ever have or need more than one!

  • Congrats on finding another house! I hope everything goes smoothly this time so you can be reunited with your babies :)
