As stuff they are embarrassed by.

I was reading and h comes in to tell me that that show I like (Hart of Dixie) is back tonight. I asked him to set the DVR and he was all "ok but don't you think you should watch it tonight". I told him I'd watch it later because I was really into the book I was reading. He keeps bugging me to watch it. Saying things like, but it hasn't been on in a while and didn't it end on a cliffhanger. Finally I was like hon if you want to watch it you don't have to wait for me. His face turned red and he walked away muttering about how he wasn't going to watch a silly girly show. When I came down later there he was watching it.

FI was born without a sense of smell. So he'll fart in front of me and apologize for farting so much and seem kinda embarrassed by it.

Which is kinda funny, since the whole "No sense of smell" thing means that I've been letting loose silent farts all day :P

A woman in my church lost her sense of smell after chemo treatment and she was so sad about it. She said it totally changed how she experienced the world and nothing ever tasted as good.

I wonder what it's like to just never have it at all! I guess you wouldn't know what you're missing, huh?

FI tells me that someone talking to him about sense of smell is like telling a dog about rainbows. He doesn't really "miss" anything since he's never sensed it. Although in terms of senses, I think smell is definitely the most expendable. Sometimes Fi can do this thing where he sucks in air through his mouth and can taste it, and that's usually close enough to smell. For instance if he did the air sucking thing near cooking bacon, he'd be like "the air tastes like bacon" but near a scented candle he's like "What the fuck is this thing it tastes like shit"

Usually I try to describe smell in terms of taste, such as "Oranges taste the way they smell" or "This smell is like what bubble gum tastes like" etc. but every once in a while it's still confusing. For instance when we first started dating, we went to the Big E with my mom, who shoved a pillow in both our faces and went "This smells like loneliness," and there was a lot of confusion.

OOh is tonight the first episode of the next season? YAY, I can't wait to see it. I really like that show but I can't watch it for three days. I don't have a TV and it doesn't show up on the CW website until three days later.

*MAYBE A SPOILER?* I really want Zoe to end up with Wade. The way the portrayed it especially with them meeting in the beginning, I figure they'll make her end up with George. George is fine and all, but I think Wade is a decent guy, or at least he's becoming a decent guy and he's a much cooler and more interesting character than Wade.

One of my co-worker's wives lost her sense of smell after she got pregnant a few years ago. I only know that because co-worker complains about being dragged places to smell lotions and stuff so she can pick some out.

FI's grandmother lost her sense of smell after she fell and hit her head probably 15 years ago. She remembers how some things taste, so she still looks forward to food but you can see her disappointment when she goes to eat it and can't taste it.

My parents' neighbor lost her sense of smell when she was 7 and in a house fire. She cooks for texture.

As far as things my FI is embarrassed about, he watches Golden Girls and Frasier with me all the time but he would neeeeever tell anyone about it lol

But I know the truth about him.

He hates all food with bones and bitches to high heaven when I make wings because it's "too much work to eat". Literally, he even bitches about boneless steak sometimes because "it's like all this work to cut it". Babe, I'm so sorry that everything is not in hot dog formation ready for you to just shovel down your gullet.

FI doesn't shower everyday and I think he gets embarrassed when he is around people who do shower everyday for a weekend or something (like my family). He changes his shower pattern when we go to my parents so they don't think he's "dirty". My mom at least figured it out that he doesn't and she doesn't care, but whatev. He never smells (not even his junk) and his hair never looks greasy. He was raised to skip a day or two in between unless he worked out. I have a very sensitive nose and I HATE body odor, and somehow he never stinks as soon as most men do. He inspired me not to wash my hair on a daily basis and my hair is so much healthier and shinier. It boggles my mind but if he does shower everyday it makes his skin and hair crazy dry and gross looking.

I definitely prefer to shower every 2-3 days. I just sit at a desk, I'm not getting sweaty. Although my friend came to visit me for 5 days and I noticed when she left that she hadn't touched the towels or poof I set out for her. That was a little weird.

Lolo why does he shower in the morning/ before working out? That seems ridiculous lol

I don't think it's gross or embarrassing!!! I guess I should have been more clear that he gets embarrassed when he's around people who don't understand that some people don't even need to.

I found out the less I wash my hair, the less I need to wash my hair.

I was watching Keeping up with the Kardashians (my guilty pleasure) and FI walked in. He looked at the TV and said "Isn't that Kendall?" lol He knows all their names, and I think he's really entertained by the show but too embarrassed to admit it.

And then a few months ago something happened and he said, "Aw that's adorbs."

Me: "What word did you just say?"

Him: "Adorbs."

Me: "Where the hell did you get that from?"

Him: "The Kardashians. I've been keeping up with them."

I laughed so hard I cried.

Oh, FI also gets embarrassed about wrong words. Last night he said un-heaved. I was like "Um... do you mean unhinged? Or upheaval? " He meant the latter. He's a really smart guy but I'm the dictionary nerd and whenever I catch a wrong word like that he just grins and says something silly so it's pretty obvious he's embarrassed. It's adorable.

It wouldn't if you saw how sweaty he gets. :-p plus he works in sales and meets with the mayor, CFO and CTO of Detroit on a regular basis - he needs to smell nice and feel on top of his game, and not get his suits icky.

OMG H is the same way. It makes me sad because I have a couple recipes for legs that I love, plus they're way cheaper, but he is so lazy when it comes to food. If I'm not home, he just doesn't eat because it's too much work to make a sandwich, let alone pick meat off of bones.

H has read the Twilight books, seen the movies, and loves Vampire Diaries. I still tease him about the night that we were house sitting, it was time for Vampire Diaries, and he couldn't find the CW and he was freaking the fuck out.

@fiancb Yes! Legs are so much cheaper than chicken breasts. I started making half my recipes with legs and just cutting his up/ deboning before I serve it to him. I know it makes him sound like a 4 year old but it only takes a second so I really don't mind.

My FI has the worst sense of direction ever and is incredibly sensitive and embarrassed by it. I have to be sooo careful when he's driving to direct him without him realizing it and a lot of the time I just get in the car and say "Why don't I turn on the google maps?" even if he's been there ten times. He'll accept help from me or Google or Siri but only if I never, ever even hint that he should know where to go. We drove to California and back successfully last year but I used $200 in roaming data overage on my phone plan because I needed to turn on a GPS literally every single time he was driving (and had to be like "Honey, I think I understand the map but I'm going to use my phone just in case, okay?") and pretend it was me who didn't know where to go.

Awful. It was so bad. I felt bad for the people in her faculty. This is the same roommate I mentioned in another thread that gave me a curfew (if I was out past 9 on a week night she'd lock the chain so I couldn't get it).
