Good Morning and Happy Friday

How was everyone's holiday? Mine was really good but really busy. I am still stuffed from Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner. Pretty sure I put on 10 pounds.

Any plans this weekend? I am happy to have zero plans all weekend besides cuddling on the couch with H.

My Christmas was fun and very filling also. The best part about it was seeing H's kids so happy! Great food and great company. I'm with you about gaining 10 pounds. Time to get back on track! H and I are taking it easy today. On Sunday we're taking the kids and going to Philadelphia to see Frozen on Ice. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

  • Morning! My Christmas was good. I definitely put on at least 10 pounds. I'm at work now, and the office is so dead. It is so eerie and quiet, and I have absolutely nothing to do. I am trying to stay awake!

Tonight, we are going to go to dinner with my friends. One of the guys is in town from Seattle, so we all get together when he is in town. Tomorrow we are going to that ice bar. My BM is in town from Cali, and one of her friends wants to go there for her bday, and told her to invite us. Other than that, I plan on kickboxing the pounds off as well!

  • I have no plans other than to start getting work done. I gave myself a week to just kind of dick around, and I need to get work done for school this next week. I am not even stepping on the scale until New Year's.

  • I was supposed to bring both cats to the vet this morning but I couldn't get one in the carrier without the other getting out. Brought Sophie in because she's been puking since yesterday morning. She's in XRay right now. I hope she's alright. Gimme some good woowoo y'all. I'm hoping she didn't find anything weird to eat and she just now decided she doesn't like their food.

Schultz will have to come in another time because he's been sneezing a TON and I'm wondering if he got something up his damn schnoz.

Daisy wanted to come too but she already had her annual checkup.

Once I know the kitties are ok, I foresee a long weekend of Shadows of Mordor and reading.

Aww, I hope Sophie is okay! She probably just ate something funky.

  • Good morning! I hosted my first Christmas and it went great! I'm so relieved. And exhausted. Today I'm just cleaning and relaxing. Tomorrow H and I are going to a spa for massages. Can't wait!
  • Super, duper low key Christmas and it was wonderful. We put the kibosh on shuffling from house to house and instead stayed put. It was just DH & I for Christmas Eve and and then SS, MIL & my Pops came over yesterday for lunch. Figured it was the last time we'd get away with hibernating since the Bean will be here next year.

And now I'm buried under a blanket with a hot cup of coffee, thanking my lucky stars that I took today off cuz there's no way in hell I'd want to commute into the office in our first "real" snow of the season. We've got about 10/11 inches down here in the Ranch and it's still coming down. What's it like in your neck of the woods, @sarawifenow?

  • We had a wonderful, but exhausting, two full days of Christmases. We both work today, but are planning a date day tomorrow where we will use up some of the gift cards we got for Christmas. I cannot wait for some quiet time with just DH.
  • @beethery‌ I hope kitty is okay. I cooked a turkey yesterday for DH and I. Today I am making turkey pot pies, going Boxing Day shopping in the plaza by my house, doing some cleaning, and binge watching Bones. Tomorrow we are starting the adoption paperwork to get a new kitty! I'm "off" until the university re-opens on January 5 but I have to stop by the lab a couple times next week to check the progress of my experiments. I'm planning on doing a lot of writing done while I'm off so I can start publishing my research in the new year.

  • Beeth - I hope kitty is ok!!
  • @beethery, I hope Sophie is OK!

H just picked up a brisket for dinner. He said this was the smallest one at the store. I think today will be lounging and watching movies we got for Xmas. Then we'll drive back home tomorrow to avoid the Sunday holiday weekend traffic.
  • @SmileDamnit--We got about 3-4 inches I would guesstimate. My office in Golden had about 6 inches. I am staring out my window and watching the snow still come down which is nice, but it makes me realize how badly I want to not be here today.

  • My Christmas is best summed up by saying I did things I didn't want to do with people I didn't want to be with.
Morning with DH was good, but went downhill from there.
My mother is a pro at making people feel like they are worth nothing, any gifts given to her are pitiful and that we should all feel guilty for the gifts she got you.
Dinner at MILs was awkward and I couldn't eat anything she made except a bread roll.
    I feel like a Grinch.
TGIF tho. This weekend is lots of cleaning and lounging about.

  • Christmas was pretty hectic this year.  FIL was out to see Grandkid.  He doesn't actually want to see any of us, just the kid, but he's the first and only grandkid, so I don't really blame him.  He always stays with BIL and we'll see him maybe once or twice while he's here.

Well, shit went down over there and BIL freaked out on him over something small (I think everyone was stressed about different things and took it to on the other people there) and we got a call super early in the morning a couple of days ago that FIL was done and moving in with us, so he's been here for the last few days.  He even changed his flight to go home early, so he's leaving tomorrow now.

We did all get together yesterday to celebrate a small Christmas, so things are good with everyone again, but it was a little crazy to get woken up so early and have to rush to get dressed and tidy up the house before he got here.  Sometimes DH's family drives me batty with all the things that go on with them.  Makes me happy DH is pretty calm and even keeled.

  • We had a nice quiet time. I made breakfast yesterday morning for FI's mom and sister, and in the afternoon/evening we had dinner with FI's stepmom, dad, and elderly great-aunt and uncle. We were done by 7:30 thanks to the seniors and it was nice.

We hit the Boxing Day sales at 7AM today, bought the things we wanted, and were safely out of the mall in about an hour. And tonight we're driving to the mountains so we can ski all day today and tomorrow. I want to be the first ones in the gondola tomorrow morning so we can also be the first ones at the top of our favourite run. There is nothing better than being the first ones to carve it up.

  • Ours was wonderful.  Well, minus the whole being violently ill on Christmas Eve Eve and spending all Christmas Eve and Day still feeling kinda crummy.  But I sucked it up and made it through, and we had a great time with both our families.

This weekend is all about cleaning and putting away the Christmas loot!

  • Christmas was pretty good- lots of wine and food. Last night was rough though. We have 2 cats- Sammy and Shiva. We've had Sammy for almost 4 years. Shiva was a stray we had been feeding, and after getting the all clear from the vet, we brought her inside a few weeks ago. We didn't rush to have her spayed because Sammy is neutered, and we wanted to wait until she was adjusted before getting it done.

Well, she has gone into heat, and the non-stop meowing is driving me nuts. I feel like I didn't sleep at all last night.
  • I just got sent home from work. Evidently this stomach flu is taking more out of me than I wanted to admit and/or I look like death warmed over. Next job: find food stomach can tolerate that will coat stomach lining so I start to feel better.
  • I completely forgot it was garbage day and missed it. Dammit.

  • We've had a nice Christmas so far! Three down, three to go. We skipped H's aunt and uncle (on FIL's side) yesterday once all H's siblings/etc decided to crash our house. We had a great, quiet night to ourselves once they all left. Baby niece said Lolo for the first time yesterday so that was awesome. SIL squealed "did you hear that, she said Lori!" No. It's Lolo. Aunts/uncles/etc on MIL's side today (the froofroo side of the family) then finally my family tomorrow.
