  My Christmas was good.  We went to SO's mom's side of the family's place and in a few days we'll be doing one with my family.  I have been sick all day, though, so the drive home was interesting.  On Sunday we'll be going to dinner at a friend of SO's family's place.

  We skyped with DD, and I saw my grandson open some Christmas presents.  At age 19 months, he is not sure what Christmas is all about yet, but he knows what toys are for!  He changes so much every few weeks.  I still can't get over his blond curls, high Scandinavian forehead and Chinese eyes!  He is just gorgeous, and I wish I could hug him in person.

  Ahhh you guys. H's aunt/godmother, who did the reading at our wedding, gave us the sweetest gift. She printed up the reading on some shimmery paper and framed it with a little flourish made of the lace from our wedding invitations. I got a little misty opening that amidst all the commotion of a 60+ person family party (MIL is one of 8 siblings, all of whom went on to have 4-6 kids each, who are all now having kids of their own) , full of people who genuinely love each other and are thrilled to squeeze into one living room/kitchen together.

  Late xmas eve we finally finished getting the house ready. Then my mom arrived and I went over to her hotel and hung out for an hour. Xmas morning we found a local donut shop that was open and picked up my mom. Then we took her back and showed her the new house. My brother arrived right after that. Then we finished wrapping presents and such while my brother watched basketball. We opened our stockings, and at half time we opened the presents under the tree. Then I started making xmas dinner. We stuffed ourselves and then watched Love, Actually (my mom and I watch it every year).

  
  

  Today I spent most of the day making turkey stock and then using it to make green chile turkey stew. It was spicy and oh so delicious.

  Well Christmas eve and Christmas day were quiet. We grilled steaks, I hand smashed potatoes instead of busting out the hand mixer and the cats attacked the paper in fits of joy before collapsing stoned off their new catnip toys. We called family members and generally enjoyed a relaxing, 1st married Christmas.
  
  Dh and I went to my folks home yesterday for Christmas dinner and gifts, will be here at their home till tomorrow. Im being good and writing out our thank you notes to distant relatives who sent gift cards.
  
  I am however pissed at my in laws. They went to visit family 5 hours away for Christmas (ok fine its a rough one, 1st one since bil died so be around fil's nieces and nephews and their littles.) Dh had a blow up with them (mostly with smil her crap and her poor handling of matters relating to bils dealth) back in August. We were in radio silence until a month ago and dh has since had texts and two face to face lunches with fil.
  
  Fil didnt bother to call dh even to say "merry Christmas, I love you." Dh got a brief text when he was still asleep of merry xmas, and that the two littles liked what we sent them. Talked to littles later in the day, fil didnt get on the phone. Called fil myself, call was rejected and I left a voicemail. Dh isn't saying much but he's really really hurt that fil couldnt set the issues they are working out aside for 20 seconds to call and wish his only living child a merry Christmas, and rejected our efforts to reach out.
  
  The icing on this cake is smil who took a Christmas photo of dh and bil, deliberately cropped out all of dh that she could (his knee was left) and posted it on fb with a "missing our boy" message. Implying a) no one else could be hurting as much; b) fil had only one son (who mattered). She's playing the martyr and I want to slap her.
  
  I need wine but I think I'll go straight for the bourbon. Attached is a photo of my chubby furbaby Squirt with some of the Christmas gifts they got (sister mopsy was busy attacking paper)
