What's your first world problem of the day?

Re: What's your first world problem of the day?

  • I get out at 1 pm today. I did what absolutely had to be completed by 10:30. I don't want to start anything else because they are invovled projects and I will be off 4.5 days so it will all leak out of my head. I do not get to take lunch. I am sitting on my ass, knotting and reading threads in the coffe break folder on the etiquette hell boards. I want wings.

I have to go buy snow chains so I can make it up to my Aunt's cabin by the lake.  Wah.

Edited: Now we can't go up (too much snow) so I don't have to buy the chains.  But that means no cozy snow filled meadow and cabin by the lake.  Super wah.

  • New FWP.  I went to the pantry looking for Ramen noodles because I wanted junk food.  But we were out of chicken flavor!  Only gross beef left, yuck.  So I'm eating instant mashed potatoes instead.

  • DH is cooking me breakfast downstairs butI'm still in bed.  I have to get up to go eat it.  Also, I only have 3 days of vacation left before I must go back to work.  Sigh.  Only 6 more months till summer

  • FWP: I don't know if they are going to let us go home early or not.  Also, we just made dinner reservations yesterday for tonight and I'm thinking I have nothing to wear.  My closet is a whole lot of business with very little casual and not a lot inbetween.  If we get out early maybe I can swing by the mall.... gahhh decisions!

  • I've decided to forego restaurant food and booze for the month of January. In preparation - I just ate my last take out lunch until February...and I GORGED myself...how the hell am I supposed to do work like this???

I have a $100 GC to Victoria Secret and it's the semiannual sale...but i'm stuck at work...and I wanna be there. Well, not after I just gained 20 lbs from lunch but I wanna be shopping...

  • I don't have a heated steering wheel. My steering wheel is still cold when I remote start my car.
This is on my wish list for my next car.

  • New FWP: our nail appointment for tomorrow got cancelled. Well not cancelled just moved. FI decided he wanted a manicure tomorrow and I decided I did too. So I made an appoitment with our regular place for the two of us at 11:00, usually takes about 30 minutes so we were gonna grab an early lunch after.

Nail place called me today, very apologetic, they have a bride and her 10 bridesmaids coming tomorrow. Originally the bride booked herself and her mom. Bride called in today to announce she needed to add an extra 10 people and when the salon said they couldn't accommodate that...bride had a meltdown. And said she had booked this before and they were the ones who changed it and she was gonna sue.

I wish they had stuck to their guns and said "No sweetie, you booked for 2 people, so sorry" but I really like this place and the guy who does my nails is awesome, so I told them we'd take a later appointment. I at least freed up two spaces for drama bride. Now we're going at 1:00.

Yes you can!  Do you have a cast iron pan or another heavy duty skillet that can be put in the oven?  I usually cook steak in my cast iron pan.  Get the pan screaming hot on the stove (oh and preheat your oven to 500) and then sear the slightly oiled, salt and peppered steak on one side for about 30 seconds to one minute, flip for another 30 seconds to one minute.  Then take the whole pan and put it in the oven. After three minutes flip the steak, add a nice pad of butter and then let it cook an additional three minutes (for a medium stead).  Take out of oven, cover and let sit for 2-5 minutes.

Adjust timing (add or subtract a minute or two) for the doneness you are looking for.

I only have today and tomorrow left before I have to go back to work on Friday after our two week winter break. LIFE IS SO UNFAIR.

FI's FWP is that he bought a PS4 and even though it's in a warehouse in our city it won't be delivered until Friday because of the holiday. He has to wait TWO WHOLE DAYS to use it.

    yep.

DH will do that if he doesn't want to deal with the grill.          If you have a broiler on the oven that works too

I did our Christmas dinner steaks this way too... sort of. I used my Calphalon grill pan, which is only safe to 450° in the oven. Let the steak rest for 2 hours to come to room temp. Dry it off well, then salt and pepper. Heat pan to medium-high on the stovetop, sear one side for 3 minutes and the other for 2. Put the whole pan in the oven for about 10 minutes for a 1.5" thick steak. It should come to about 140°. Take it out, put it on a carving board and let it rest for 5 minutes. It'll continue to cook and come to 145° for medium. While it was resting, I deglazed the pan with butter and poured it over the steak on the plate. PERFECTION.

One of my friends bought us one off of our registry for the wedding and didn't bring it with her to the reception. She keeps telling me she needs to meet up with me to give it to me and then I don't hear from her for weeks. We've been married over 3 months. I don't think I'm getting that skillet from her and just need to go and buy one myself.

I'm completely with you. I felt so bad for the girl on the phone with me. She kept saying "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry", it sounded like she was near tears. She was a big part of why I let them move our appoitment, I felt really bad for her. I've been on the receiving end of BSC people, I get it.

ETA: Plus also I'm really hoping BSC bride moseys on out before we show up. I don't want to deal with that on my day off.
