I didn't even see the red dress on my first time through here. Wear red for me, as I cannot!

    It's pretty hot.
Do you avoid red because you're a redhead? My fi does it, but I swear redheads look great in red! (Sorry for the thread jack)
Yes. I also have rosy pink skin and it just looks like I set myself on fire.
I honestly think redheads look awesome in red! V looks very handsome in maroon so I may be baised haha

  • I agree that dress is too casual.

I have had really great luck getting super good deals on modcloth.  If you're not familiar with modcloth, I think you have to sign up to see specific details about each dress, but it's worth it because reviewers will often include pictures so you can see how the dress looks on the average person, not just tall models.  Also, I recommend you pay close attention to the actual measurements given for each dress and order based on that, not based on what size you think you are (or want to be - unfortunately, I've had tag shock with what size a dress is from there but measurements were spot on and it fit like a dream).  They have 850 dresses under $52 (I couldn't get the slider bar exactly on $50) and they have a good return/exchange policy as long as it isn't a final sale dress.  They have 32 dresses in the "cocktail dress" genre in that price range and 51 LBD's

Seriously - you should! I'm a little obsessed. I rent for everything. Weddings, rehearsal dinners, charity events/galas, special date nights, vacation, parties (including costume parties). I would much rather spend $50 to rent an amazing dress than buy something so-so at the mall for $25 and never wear it again (which is what I used to do). They basically always have a coupon code for $20 off your first rental.

If you were close to my size, I'd loan you one of my dresses. I have a bunch of fancy dresses that have never seen the outside of my closet.
    Aw.

  • I dig that dress but agree it might be too casual. I'm also a modcloth fiend.

I am standing over here being super jealous of you right now. I don't blame you for not wanting to wear shapewear for the Chef's Table; I did the regular dinner and was there for over 2 hours!

I would think that dress by itself is too casual for the regular dinner. Have you ever dined there? Just curious. It's abso-fucking-lutely AMAZING. One of the best meals I've ever had outside of eating in Italy (looking at you novella!). Chef's Table is going to be amazing.

Which hotel are you staying at? I can tell you if I know about their shipping/receiving. If you're staying at the Grand, have no fears about RTR and getting it and delivering it back on time. Same goes for all the other Deluxe and Moderate disney hotels. I don't know about the Value resorts though; might take the bus to get to a nicer hotel to pick it up and deliver it to be sure.

    Again, super DUPER jealous.

    Edited because words are hard.

    @dolewhipper

I have not eaten at Victoria and Alberts before. I am super looking forward to it! H went to the Chef's table before with his family and he has said it was amazing, and also one of the best meals of his life.

We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Because Giraffes.

  • ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!?

Can you adopt me? Because just those two things alone make for the most amazing vacation.

Considering that you also believe it can be the most amazing meal of your life (I swear, when I got my amuse bouche of lump crab meat with caviar on top, I cut that fucker into 4 pieces and savored every teeny bite), I would also dress for the occasion. From your OP I don't think you're too excited to wear that dress. I would be 1000% confident in the CMs at the AKL taking care of your RTR delivery.

I'll probably keep looking for a day or two, but I just picked this up for 16.99
    Yes gorgeous love.
  • Soooo. Should I go for gold jewelry or silver?

This might end with me buying new shoes. It seems like such a shame to wear black shoes with that dress.

I would do gold, but that's more to do with your complexion than the color of the dress. Although it might also just be the lighting in that dressing room.

  • chibiyui, great choice! With blue like that you really can do gold or silver, so your have a lot of options! Personally, I consider gold to just feel more dressy than silver (but that's probably because I was WAY into silver when I was younger, so I associate it with that for myself!). It would be really easy to do a shawl or wrap with that dress too in a variety of colors or patterns, just in case you want to have the option (good to bring so that you have it if you get cold).

  • DING DING DING! We have a winner! I LOVE the blue dress! I personally would do gold, but only because it's my personal preference. I think gold and silver would look equally awesome with that dress.
  • I think that dress would be PERFECT. Beautiful color on you.
