As I said the outside thing wasn't what I wanted. I'm gal to see that you can switch and have the cat not really mind. He's more of a momma's boy so since momma's inside that's usually where he is too. So he'll probably be okay. Maybe I'll find a table or chair just for him to sit by a window.

Another question; He's used to having several other cats around. He's the only one that's ours (others are our roommates') so he's the only one moving. So he's going from being a part of a four cat home to being an only cat. I know with dogs that transition can be hard. Are cats usually okay since they're not really pack animals?

Depends on the cat. Did you notice if he kept to himself or was always along side other cats? Both of my cats have never lived without other cats, but one of them would be okay while the other probably wouldn't do too well. My shy, clingy cat likes to have the other one in sight. The social, fat one can take it or leave it.
He does play with them (and WINS!) and he'll sometimes sleep next to the youngest. But mostly he's happy on the couch or bed watching tv with me or watch his daddy play video games. So do you think he might be okay?

I bet he'll be just fine.

Thanks. I'm probably just paranoid. I've never had a cat before. I've had fish, hamsters, a ferret for a little while, and a family dog. I've always been a pretty good pet mommy but a paranoid one.

I have tried to walk my cat.  It was like putting a leash on a tree stump and dragging it.

I couldn't even get that far. When I tried to harness him, the claws came out. I still had other scratches on me, so I let it go. Never tried again.

@teddy917 - about 7ish years ago we were down to 1 cat (this is a heinous crime in our home.  My husband (and new son in law) are like crazy cat ladies).  Our beloved Meatheadcoolestcatthateverlived passed away quickly from either an undiagnosed tumor or aneuryism.  We grieved for a few weeks and then I headed to PetSmart because they bring in cats from the shelters to get them adopted. I went for ONE cat - I had to check to see if I would be allergic to it or if all would be good.  I found a set of twin brothers I played with and no allergies.

Took DH and DS to PetSmart with DH agreeing we were only going to take one of the brothers. Uh huh...... we couldn't separate them so they both came home with us.  We are fortunate enough to live relatively close to Michigan State University and called their small animal clinic to talk to an animal behavioralist.  We ended up keeping the kittens in our master bathroom for TWO WEEKS with the door closed (yes, we brought them out to play but had to lock the other cat up at the beginning).  They said to let them "meet through the door."  They hissed under the door at each other the first week and then the second week we did face to face meetings with all cats being held by us humans.  They hissed some more.

After the two weeks we let the kittens roam the house supervised until they all decided who the alpha cat was and no one was pouncing on the others to attack.  After more hissing, all went well. Worked great for us.

The cat we had (Nermal) when the kittens came to us is 8 now and if we introduced another animal, he would mark like crazy.  I guess he is a little older now and has decided that this is his palace and we are allowed to live here.  Other animals besides Einstein (his twin, Newton, passed away at 2 from kidney disease) aren't allowed to enter the castle.

It was a little bit of a hassle, but not nearly as bad as it reads.  Einstein and Newton are currently asleep on my bed, as usual, making sure no one steals it.
