The Bachelor-Tonight!

Re: The Bachelor-Tonight!

  • If someone wanted to PM me a link where I could watch this online, that'd be cool ;)
I totally forgot to watch or DVR last night!
    Anniversary

  • Yes! It totally seems like he has sex with one of the girls while they're all on a date or something. And I'm actually surprised by that. He didn't seem like that. But maybe I'm just naive. I wonder who the girl is.
I didn't stay up long enough to watch the sneak preview. As soon as that last rose was handed out, I took off to go to bed. Stupid 3-hour episode.

But they have a tendency to play up simple stuff and make it look like crazy drama, so it builds so much suspense for weeks and then when you finally get to see what happens it's like "oh... that's it?"
    image
  • That 3 hour episode was way overdone and too long.

Yeah, I was annoyed with Michelle Money's "rumor" as well.  How high school is that?  She was just trying to stir crap up and that pisses me off when people do things like that.  My opinion of her went even lower after saying that.  I was also like 'wtf was that?'  What is the point of saying that?  To make yourself feel better about putting someone else down?  Well, good for you.  Argh, that is some passive aggressive bullcrap and I detest passive aggressiveness.

I also lost respect for the woman in the red dress who made the seal joke after she stood in the doorway and talking about blocking the next group of women from coming in.  I think that was her, but I could have been wrong.  I also know that they edit the show like crazy to present a particular image of someone, so maybe she didn't do that then and they just edited the clips to make it seem that way.  I was with her up until then, if she actually did that.  How would you feel if someone did that to you?

Maybe I am not cut out to watch this show.  I just hate that petty, snarky, high school drama bull crap that some women never seem to grow out of, as was showcased tonight.  Mean snarkiness grates my nerves!  What is the point?  It just makes others feel like crap and now you feel better about yourself?  Here is your gold medal.

Could not agree with you more on that!!!

When the first girl walked in from the second batch of limos and all the "original" girls were a little bit shitty to her, I yelled at the tv "IT WASN'T EVEN HER CHOICE TO SHOW UP WHEN SHE DID!" That poor girl had no idea what she was walking into and had no control over it, yet all the other girls seemed to have something personal against her before she even set her foot in the door. Ugh. Get the fuck over yourselves.

I think that's one of the things I find so entertaining, though, is how these women make themselves look like petty, immature, catty bitches for the dumbest little reasons.

  • I get the feeling that ABC is trying to market him as the "aw shucks", pure, wholesome farmer.  That does not seem to be the case (not judging him - he's a man with a sex drive and many women trying to get his attention).  I think people are going to be unfairly disappointed in him because of that.

Exactly @novella1186! I felt so bad for her!  She seemed like a genuinely sweet lady and, like you said, had no idea that she was coming into a room full of possessive, catty biotches.  I was thinking the same thing!  She can't control when she shows up and the other ladies had NO right to be mean and possessive like that!  How would they feel if the roles were reversed?! Argh!  Why can't people think like that more!  How would you feel if the same thing happened to you?!  They judged the second group and that poor first woman from the second group before they even met her!  Talk about mob mentality too.  I HATE mob mentality.  You don't like her, so ok, I won't like her either because I can't think for myself.

Argh!  That mentality just rubs me the wrong way.  I think I actually said to the tv, "Grow the f up!  How old are you?"  And yes, they needed to get over themselves!  Ugh is right!  Argh!  I HATE cattiness, HATE it with a passion!  Is it really that hard to be real and nice to people and not say passive aggressive crap?  Is it really that hard NOT to start rumors?  Seriously.

You are right @novella1186.  There is some guilty pleasure in watching the petty cattiness of these women who act like they are in high school.  To be fair, though, not all do that.  The cattiness usually is for the smallest of deals.  Be a grown-up, talk about it in a civil manner, and work it out like adults!

  • Hated the stupid red carpet/live premier thing. I DVR'd Bachelor and watched Celebrity Apprentice live, and then watched Bachelor commercial free and fast-forwarded through all the dumb stuff. (yeah, last night was a late night, oh well).

I really like Britt so far, and I couldn't believe they kissed already! Happy to see Amanda the ballerina go (she looked like she had already named her and Chris' kids before getting out of the limo), but annoyed that Onion Ashley stayed. Two words: crazy stare. I kinda got why he let Tara the drunk whiskey cowgirl stay. She was cool at first but like Chris said, it's a long night, and I think he wanted to give her a second chance. Almost had to turn off the TV when the cruise ship singer started doing her little show out of the limo.

On another note, my FI, who usually is sleeping on the couch at about 8:30pm halfway through a show, stayed up and watched everything with me. I gave him his out several times ("I'll go upstairs and watch in bed if you want...") but he stayed even until the end of the show season preview and said, and I quote: "dammmn, this is going to be good."

  • If anyone is interested, here is a blog by a friend-of-a-friend.  I love her recaps of the first night - http://www.ihategreenbeans.com/bachelor-recap-heigh-ho-derry-o/
  • Ahhh, the cruise ship singer! That was so awkward.
  • So - the contestants do next to nothing on their own. There's almost always a producer telling them to go do something because it will make for good tv. The producers ply the contestants with liquor and then manipulate the hell out of all of them, both in the moment and through editing. The girl trying to block the next group? I would bet money that a producer said "hey go do this." Sure, they're crappy for going along with it, but it's part of being on the show - they own you, and the producers are really the shitbags.

I watch, the first episode is always my favorite. Their season-long supertease is always a work of art.

I haaaaaate the 3 hour thing. It's worse for the finale because there is so little material in the actual show. Here they couldn't even get through all 30 limo exits because we had to listen to Catherine and Sean say absolutely nothing. I'm surprised Trista and Ryan weren't there to say absolutely nothing in a 2 minute interview.

I wanted Chis to interview Deana and Stagliano's twin. They are my favorite couple to come out of the Bachelor Nation.
It's funny, I hated Deanna but after watching clips of her with her DH (Michael's twin brother!) she changed my mind. I loved her season the most because she had the best looking guys in her season but her attitude had me rolling my eyes.

Y'all are so gullible, buying what the producers imply.

Other than some second base action, I highly doubt there is any actual humping going on in that tent.

I'm a reality producer (not on the Bach). I can't wait to tell everyone we're shitbags.

And yes, everything the girls do is either an outright direction from producers, or allowed by producers. The girls are just dominoes, the producers are the ones that set off the chain reaction.

So what makes you say there was no humping?
  • So what makes you say there was no humping?
Because outside of Courtney/Ben "just the tip" action in the ocean and Bachelor Bob being a manwhore in limos, participants just don't have sex on group dates/with cameras around/outside the Fantasy Suite. They know they are being filmed, and despite a willingness for making out in hot tubs and heavy-duty drunken grinding, both the men and woman don't usually want to be filmed having sex on television. Especially when it's a group date and the other girls are there.

    Unless you are Bob.

Also the producers are absolute champions at the super tease and pumping things up to be more than they are. Truly in a class of their own.

  • Well, IMO it seems a little silly that a bunch of women would get so upset over just some dry humping. Isn't it a given that the Bachelor will be making out with and groping the ladies?

Ha! This is the girl that I went to high school with!

P.S. I didn't watch, but she seems like that type, hahaha
  • I watch The Bachelor/Bachelorette/in Paradise. It's addicting, I routinely think "you are an idiot," and it makes me so grateful for the husband I have. I can't watch till next week though because ABC doesn't have it online until then. :(

I did see a link to a recap on twitter where just te caption for the link on twitter was "I wish I was a polygamist." I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THAT! I knew it would happen!
  • H watched the last hour with me, in time to see Onion Girl in action. "If it's a pomegranate, God bless it." Im not surprised he kept her though. She's probably just going to be around so people watch. The really drunk girl (forgot her name) looked like she was going to blow!

Open mouth, insert foot. Sorry - I didn't mean to call individual people shitbags. PP (I think it was kmbay84) basically said that the girls are the terrible people for doing the things they do to the others, when they're really not the ones making the decisions and the producers probably put them up to it. It's just kind of misplaced anger to rage against the girls who are so drunk they don't even know what they're doing (obviously not an excuse but that's what makes for good tv).

If you aren't a producer on the Bachelor then I don't think you can really say what is happening or not. Obviously - as you pointed out - it has happened before so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Just because I don't work on the show doesn't mean I don't know what goes on. I work with these people. I've worked with the infamous producer who slept with Roslyn. I manipulate footage just like they do. I take interview bites out of context, add in sfx/heavy breathing/tears/yelling too. But if you want to buy that he totally fucked her in a tent, go for it. I just don't.

  • So, you manipulate footage and we're all just gullible. Got it.

Honestly why are you so bothered by us thinking he slept with someone?

I am not bothered. I think it's hilarious. And keeping me and my coworkers employed. I'm very happy people watch these shows and find them entertaining, for whatever reason.

I apologize for my misplaced anger.  It just bugs me when people act like that in general, but I understand that the producers are the ones that can shape how things go and influence what they say or do.  Obviously I do not know these ladies either, so I shouldn't judge as well.  If the producers told them to do that, I feel as though they didn't have to follow the orders.  Do they have to follow what the producers tell them even if it's a jerk move?  I could be wrong though.  I have never worked on a reality show or have been a producer, so maybe that is their job when they sign the contracts.  There are women who aren't catty and mean.  Do the producers assign roles or do the ladies have any free will?  Just a thought.

I think we all get manipulated footage and misleading promos etc. But the fact is sometimes this shit is real. People do have sex beforehand etc. So it could be right on target. We will see.

And just because a producer tells a person to do something doesn't mean they control it. The women still have the free will to NOT DO IT. For instance, they don't have to karaoke or ride up on a bike or drink excessively.
Exactly what I was trying to say @scribe95!  You just said it better :)
