You could also look at dresses with this style top:

Also, this is a good shot of someone wearing a dress with more traditional "cups", but they didn't give her fake boobs:

    image

The cups in a dress often have that line ("dart") going up the middle. Sometimes it's on the sides. That's where the seamstress will bring it in. The dart helps the cup keep its shape. Sometimes they have to create a dart up the middle to bring it in, but a good seamstress can usually avoid that by taking it in under the arms and at the waist instead. To keep the cup smooth, they can remove fabric to make it smaller and then bring it in like I mentioned.

It can be some work, which is why they sometimes just stuff them with those "cutlets", but it does look pretty insane when it increases you by a cup size or more. Those work a little better when you're close to the cup size but not quite there. (Like, if you're an almost-C and the dress is a C.)
  • I'm wondering what kind of dresses you've tried on... I think flowing sheaths can be gorgeous on straight-figured girls.
  • I'm wondering what kind of dresses you've tried on... I think flowing sheaths can be gorgeous on straight-figured girls.
    I have tried on:
Flowing sheaths: wasn't terrible (probably didn't put the right one on)
Straps: With too much going on with the dress I get a little lost
A-line: This one seemed the most "fun" like I was going for without losing me in it
Ballgown: Yes, my mother put me in it.. can we say giant cake topper loofah and not happening!

I'm not really an "elegant" type of girl and I want to wear boots under it (winter lodge wedding) so i want something a little fun and playful if that makes sense? This is the one I liked the best:

  • Sorry I don't have any useful input, I'm just beyond jealous that you don't need to wear a bra. I would gladly detach my boobs and use them as purses. Or maybe two stylish hats.

  • This is the dress I almost bought, but look how boobalicious I am in it. NOT CUTE. (And sorry, it's also an awful photo of me). Like, when I looked in the mirror I was so bummed out cuz I felt like I looked way too "chesty" and there was just too much cleavage happening. Too too much. Ugh. Why won't they just go away?!

The other photo is the same dress on the model, with way smaller boobs than me, and it looks SO MUCH BETTER on her chest.

wrigleyville posted, and pretty much any other kind of cut, would look great on you.

  • That dress is smokin on you and you are beautiful if you don't mind me saying so.. I see what you mean about the ladies, if the solid cups were a tad bigger BINGO! I freaking love how women are "my boobs are too big" "my boobs are too small" "I love your boobs" "can I motorboat you?" haha

Thank you all for your help, I think I'll just keep visualizing "there is nothing there" when trying on and take the ideas @wrigleyville posted for a different cut idea! GAH I hate this kind of shopping, new snowmobile helmet no problem! Dress.. boo

Thanks! Sometimes I love my boobs, but I just wish they would shrink a bit lol. I'm sure you're going to look so good in so many dresses though. And don't forget to post a picture here when you find The One! :)

  • Oh don't you worry, I will! By the time this wedding is done all of you are going to be like "good lord, please go away" but eh... in the mean time you will just have to deal with my awesomeness..

  • I don't know why I expected this thread to be more along the lines of "There is something weird happening with my boobs, guys! Issues!" Like... maybe they had weird lumps, or were growing tentacles or something. I don't know. I'm really sleep-deprived today. 1.5 hours after working for like, 18 hours including the work I did at home, just does not cut it.
um ok so when I first read this I thought it said "growing TESTICLES" and I was all like

That's actually pretty similar to my dress (but mine is lace but has the beaded belt and I"m adding beaded straps) and it doesn't make my boobs look fake at all.

LOVE your dress, @novella1186!  I think you look fab in the other one too, that you said you were too busty for :)

I'm 5'4 but with the shoes I was about 5'8.  I'm also taking out some of the layers underneath so it's not so poofy but as long as it's altered correctly, it will fit perfectly

  • It already looks great so I'm sure it will be fabulous! That is my other problem.. 5 footer over here!

I am right there with you! I was originally dead-set on an a-line dress until I started trying them on and looked totally ridiculous. At one point I tried on what was meant to be a tea-length dress-- just for fun-- and it was floor-length on me. And it was so poofy that I looked like a little cupcake. We could not stop laughing.

My mother put me in a ball gown.. what in the world was she thinking!? Hang me from the rafters in that and I can be a decoration over the dance floor!!!

  • My dress with my not even b-cups

That's a gorgeous dress. :) I almost bought one similar to that.

    Are you at Kleinfeld's?
  • As disappointed as I am that this thread isn't about boob tentacles, I'll chime in anyway. My friend, who definitely qualifies as boobless (I can say that because we're besties, right?), got married in a nice lacy sheath with a straight neckline and spaghetti straps. I think keeping it simple up top was key. I like that she didn't try to pretend she had more up top than she actually does so she still looked like herself and wasn't awkwardly padded or stuck in a dress clearly designed for someone with a different figure.

Yep that's where I got it!

Are we long lost twin sisters?

I'm also only 5'. I went with a knee length dress. Well on me it was like mid-shin, I had it taken up to knee length. And then I wore scary high heels.
  • @MagicInk we might be!

Knee length would be awesome, unfortunately in the snow I might freeze my little tushy off! And good for you with the scary high heels, my best just got married, she is 5 foot, her H is 6'5" so she was in 5 inchers! My man is only 5'6" so no need for me teetering off the aisle (yeah, that could totally happen)!
