Things for the new year

Re: Things for the new year

  • A friend of mine started a not-for-profit for SN parents who want to/need to baby/kid wear. I'm tempted to apply for one. They have some really pricey wraps and carriers that have donated... I'm going to email her and get her input. She's been wearing her oldest since he was a newborn and now wears both him and her youngest who has Down Syndrome.
  • I have no SN kids but I really do love babywearing when you have two. It was such a sanity saver when DD was a baby and we were dealing with her reflux. If you do want a stretchy wrap, I'm happy to send you my Boba wrap. It's gray and in pretty good condition (no stains or smells).
  • Yeah, my office needs doors stat.  That way my bored kid won't interrogate me on why I called accounting.
  • Also, someone set my thermostat (or it set itself somehow)...Plus the kiddo somehow changed the username on my sprint.com account (which is a whole story that I don't want even get started on).

I blame all this on the full moon.  And the fact that 2 weeks and a day is entirely too long for winter break.  Ha.

@Pmeg819 - I would love to try the Boba wrap!

I just friended you (I don't know why we weren't!) - PM me details and what you want for it.
  • 6. Can you have a mid-life crisis at 41? I really feel like quitting my job and moving to Europe for a year. Wasn't that what I was suppose to do at 21?

I have a friend who is doing essentially that (quit her job and is spending the next year-ish travelling) at 30/31.

Well, you guys shared makeup and other pics so:

This is our new crazy ass tent.  It's HUGE, it's nearly doubled the size of the old one.  We're giving up 2 pounds though and a decent chunk of room.  We'll be splitting it into tent + stakes, and then fly + footprint between the two of us.  It's neat b/c it's like a triangle tent mated with the dome tent.  There are 2 doors, so no more climbing over each other to get in/out.  And room for Zelda!  And we each have our own vestibule for extra room/cooking.  The only thing we're not crazy about is that the attachments are plastic and they just don't feel super heavy.  We're going to see if we can replace them.

The new chairs.  This thing is AWESOME; breaks down into 1.8 pounds and a bag that is barely a foot long and probably 5" wide.  I'm so excited.  It's super durable and comfy.
  • That's a nice tent.:)

  • Love the tent and chair. Dh found a lot of my old camping gear this week and it made me a little sad for my past life.
  • Late to this party, but another vote for yay babywearing! I still wear DD, she is 2 next week and 30 pounds, but still needs to be up at times. We've done the zoo with just a backpack and a carrier, I cannot remember when we last used the stroller.

A friend of mine locally has a son with Tay Sach's, and she wears him quite a bit when he isn't in his special stroller, especially out in busy places with space at a premium. WE both use Kinderpacks, which are like the Ergo, a SSC, but sized better, going all the way up to what they can preschool size. They also have ones with longer straps, they call them plus sized. I wear plus sized and it is so much more comfy then the ergo ever was for me.

You technically could wrap your newbie and put PK on your back in a SSC, I've seen it done. I only really wrapped DD in a Moby, then we moved to SSC, but I have a 7 wrap that I plan on using more for our newbie, and will back carry DD as needed.

I'm not sure my body is up for tandem carrying. But I certainly will be wearing 2.0 a lot. PF is really getting determined to move on her own so we want to encourage that as much as we can.

    I also can't afford a preschool-sized kinderpack. I've looked.
