We found two poor animals that we rescued today. This is the pregnant momma dog. What looks like dirt in the pic is actually dried blood encrusted in her fur!
She has been having premature contractions since I picked her back up from the vet after work today. Poor baby. I'm worried the pups won't make it. Or if she does go into labor, there is no way in hell that momma can lick her pups clean and get them breathing. According to the vet, her jaw is fractured. (Not to mention that the vet had to put it back in place to begin with!)
And she isn't even the worst of the two. We also found another pit mix pup who was all torn to hell. She looks like she has been a bait dog for awhile. No pics of her yet. The vet won't even let me keep her tonight she is in such bad shape. Vet said she had been fought before and that in both her hind legs the ACL had been shredded (probably 2+ months ago). She also is covered in open puss filled bleeding wounds clearly from other dogs' teeth. And that poor girl is so stinking loving!
When I found the dogs, the second dog even managed to stand and hobble over to me to beg for love. It broke my heart to see an animal so horribly treated!
I am seriously fucking livid! I want to beat the ever loving shit out of the douche who did this to these animals. If I could find him, there would be flaming cacti finding their way up his ass!
I just can't... These poor babies. I swear they knew I was there to help, because neither of these girls bit or snapped. The momma halfhearted growled once, but it was probably because me lifting her hurt. We have put off trying to give her a bath for now. The vet recommended to leave her dirty for now and to wait to bathe her until we can get her more stable. We went through three IVs of just fluids for both dogs, and despite a combined total of 119 stitches we still can't get the all the bleeding stopped yet.
These poor babies definitely could use all the love and good juju out there.
