TMI: Enter at your own risk.

I have a problem and I am super embarrassed.

Ok. Here goes.

I think I have a hemorrhoid.

I have never had one before. And I don't understand why I got it. I drink tons of water. I exercise every day. I eat really well!

So, anyway. How the fuck do I get rid of this thing????

Re: TMI: Enter at your own risk.

  • H had one over the summer and he got it from strain. He had been moving heavy trees at work and over did it. Maybe that's what happened to you.

He just tried to relax, drink lots of water, and used those Tucks things occasionally.

  • You know what? I do remember straining this week. God damn it.
  • Yikes!  My brother had one recently.  I know he went to the doctor for it and...had to wear maxi pads  (ahhh, poor guy--that makes me laugh and cry equally!)  I believe he also had some creams and sat on lots of bags of peas.  I think if they get really bad there are more medical options available?

I don't know exactly how to get rid of it except by resting and NOT straining. It was hard for H because he has a manual labor job and felt embarrassed to say that he couldn't work because of a hemorroid. But he just took it easy and it went away pretty quickly.

ETA: I've never had one but since H did I'm always paranoid when I'm straining to do something that I will get one! I hope it goes away fast for you!

  • It's not like super painful. And um - it feels small? Ay yi yi.
  • Oh dear! At least it isn't too painful then...

  • Ah that's no fun! They're pretty common after delivery and I ended up getting some after I had my son. Definitely uncomfortable!

Water, fiber, warm baths, and then would use the wipes/cream occasionally throughout the day.

ok kinda gross- but have to be careful when going #2 not to strain too much then either.
  • I am so embarrassed. *crying*

Aww, honey :(  I know I would be horribly embarrassed too, but in the end--it's just a little medical thing.  It happens, ya know?

And now to be gross...I would try to make sure to eat foods that will keep the pipes moving smoothly.  I know fiber is supposed to be good for bulk, but for me that bulk is more of a...clogging agent, shall we say.  Like pp said, you don't want to have to do any extra straining.

  • I had one a few years ago. I took pain relievers help me get through the day. I ended up using a cream and it helped it to go away.
  • creams from walgreens or cvs help a ton, drink lots of water and maybre try fiber supplements or stool softeners and lots lots of water. They should go away a few days, if  bleeding becomes worse go to the DR

  • Oh, dear :(  But it happens to the best of us...  like PP's said- lots of water, take it easy (no straining), and tuck's wipes.

It'll go away eventually- hang in there!
  • I have no helpful advice, but I'm sorry your booty hurts.

You've had a terrible week! Feel better.

  • Use wet wipes and dry your butt really well after a shower. It helps with the pain a lot. I used to get them from eating dorm food in college.

  • You guys are the best. Thank you!!!
  • oh, I (sadly) know where you are coming from. Except I used to get them all the time. And they weren't small.

Echo the Tucks pads/prepH. I have to manage my diet very carefully or else I get them. Lots of fiber and coffee.

Don't take a laxative (DON'T), but stool softners can help.

  • My mom used to get them all the time. Her first one she ignored and actually needed surgery to remove it, so do as PPs said and be careful.

    Sorry you feel yucky.
  • Oh no! I don't know anything about hemorrhoids but just offering my support because I've been dealing with some TMI health issues of my own since November...hang in there!

Yikes. They are on your butthole. I would care not to know about my MIL's butthole as well.

So, anyway. How the fuck do I get rid of this thing????
Go to the doctors and get an actual diagnosis and then go from there?

ETA: Don't be embarrassed!  Just go get fixed up so you aren't uncomfortable.

If it is one small one, I don't think a trip to the doctor is necessary.

But she has no idea if it is a hemorrhoid or not, and neither do we.
