Small update on the dogs:

The momma is doing better. Her sedative and pain killers are kicking in. She seems much more relaxed. She even started eating and drinking on her own so that's good. I'm hoping if she hydrates she will stop having premature labor.

The other little girl is doing better too. Vet says she is stable now, and that we can bring her home in the morning. Although she is going to need surgery on both her back legs before she will be able to start walking and playing like a normal dog again. Vet said she was wagging her tail and ate a few cans of wet food too. (Yay! Because she wasn't eating earlier.) Still waiting for her bite wounds to clot up and stop bleeding.

So happy they are doing better already!

If either big girl would be ok with kids, other friendly male Pitties, and small critters, we've got room in the pile for one. But our life may be too stressful.

I'm also in the camp that dogs know when you're helping them. My rescue dog is 10x more loving and appreciative. They're excellent judges of character and know when they have a safe haven to just be a loving/loved dog.

Maybe I missed it, but have you been in contact with a rescue/shelter? Are you shouldering all these medical bills yourself? Planning on keeping the dogs? If I were you, I'd be calling every news station and paper in the area. Get the story out there! Bringing attention to these adorable girls can only help-- to raise awareness, to maybe find the creeps who did this, and to get some donations to help with their care. I can't imagine how expensive their vet bills are going to end up being!

I'm so happy to hear that they are doing well. Keep the positive updates coming!

I too couldn't open the photo. This just makes me so furious. Livid. And it breaks my heart. I cannot understand how someone could abuse an animal. I'm so glad you helped them. Thank You. I will hug my kitties tighter tonight.

@velvethelicopters‌ I will have to wait to see if the big girls are ok with others. The momma dog wasn't very friendly with other animals when we brought her home, but that may also be because she is pregnant and is nesting.

@HeatherKat‌ We haven't done much as far as contacting shelters. We did call one no kill, but they are too full and won't have an opening for another pup for a couple weeks. I haven't bothered with our local HSPCA because they would just put the dogs to sleep. Our vet is really great to work with too. She has given us discounts on their medical bills so both girls care wasn't too much for their first visit.

@PrettyGirlLost‌ The dogs are doing much better. They are both eating on their own. FI picked up the second pup this morning after I left for work. He says they are both sleeping away after the sedative and pain killers the vet prescribed.

I don't blame either girl for not being friendly right now, so no problem. I just really want a female dog next, and we do love our Pitties.

Really, the only harm from the boys is the tail whipping. I get you are soooooooooooooo happy, but move away please because your tail hurts! I swear, as long as you don't try to hurt their babies, they'd help a burglar who offered ear rubs. Dumb dogs.

This is really making me want to go home and cuddle with my cute little pibble and let her know everything is going to be okay and no one is ever going to get to her ever again.

@firebabe6519 - you are amazing and doing a wonderful job and kudos to that vet. She is awesome for helping out and providing discounts.
