I can feel it coming in the air tonight (aka getting sick)

UGHDSFLJKSD, I'm sitting here at my desk and I can literally FEEL my body getting sick.

We are leaving for Chicago in A WEEK for my baby brother's Navy RTC Graduation and I am gonna be so fricking pissed if I'm sick.
I feel achy & lethargic & my throat is starting to feel scratchy. Dear bby jesus please don't let me get the flu.
I'm kind of regretting not getting the flu shot this year (I didn't do it this year bc last time I got the shot I GOT the flu).

Anyone else been sick this winter?

Re: I can feel it coming in the air tonight (aka getting sick)

  • Ew no fun.

I kept feeling like I was trying to get a cold since October. I kept telling my body "no, no, no, no and no" I had too much going on. Well, it hit me two weeks ago and won't go away.

  • I'm not sick but i feel like completely ass. Had to get a bunch of bloodwork done this morning, so I started fasting at 7pm last night. No food, beverages and minimal water.

Go in for my testing at 730 this morning and don't get into the lab until 11. So i'm dehydrated, have a raging headache from lack of food and caffiene and then they steal 5 vials of my blood.

I feel like I'm going to pass out at my desk. I wanna go home.

  • Hopefully it's not the flu! When I feel something coming on I immediately put on a scarf and start drinking tea with honey (or hot water with lemon) and it usually heads it off.
  • I woke up this morning not feeling well and am feeling progressively worse too.  We have a caterer tasting tomorrow and I'm going to be so bummed if I still don't have an appetite.  I've been drinking hot lemon water all morning.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • Whenever I start to feel the ickies I take a double or triple dose of echinacea and goldenseal and go to bed early. I can almost always head it off.

  • my throat started hurting a few hours ago.    My legs are still in pain from skiing on Sunday.

I'm getting old and falling apart.  :(

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Zinc, zinc, zinc!  Start taking Zicam (or something similar) stat- I really do agree that it helps shorten colds- it's helped me, definitely.

@lyndausvi - where did you ski??  I've been on skis since I was 4 years old- it's one of my favorite things in the entire world.  :)

Snowmass, CO.  It's just down the road.   I haven't been on skis in 17 years.  My legs are fucking PISSED at me.  Oddly, it's my calves, not my thighs.   I have no idea how my stance was to cause this much pain.

Is it your boots? When I put mine on cold they press against my calf in a way that makes them not hurt much at the time, but later I feel like it was cramping for hours and it is SO SORE. They've been heat-moulded twice and fit really well but for some reason if I put them on out of the cold car I feel like I'm going to die the next day.

might be. I had rentals.   They seem to fit fine, but I feel like I have a huge charlie horse in each calf.   I've been trying to stretch them, but so far nothing it helping.

That's exactly how mine feel after, I bet that's what it is (especially if they were rentals.) I don't know what to do about it but at least you don't have to blame your stance :)

  • :-(  Wondering if I'm getting sick myself.  I've had a massive headache all day and I keep sneezing out of nowhere.

    Let's feel better, together.
