Happy Friday!

It's a three day weekend for me and I am so excited!

Tonight is date night and we are going to go to dinner and maybe a movie. I want to see Wild or Into The Woods.

Tomorrow I am volunteering in the morning and then it is one of my best friends (and former BM) 30th birthday. We are getting a big group together and taking her out for a night on the town.

Sunday will be spent recovering from said Saturday night. I need to clean our place because MIL is staying with us next weekend. I'll likely stay in my PJs all day and cook something comforting for dinner.

Monday I am going to paint, read, and go to lunch with my mom and grandma. So excited!

What is everyone else doing?

Re: Happy Friday!

  • Thank god its Friday indeed!

Been a bit of a stressful week for me. My dad was rushed to the hospital for a suspected heart attack. Thankfully it wasnt a heart attack and he was released after 12 hours observation. They think that its stress related. He's only 53 so its very scary. And living 8 hours away I had a minor breakdown because it made me realize if something were to happen, how good chances are I wouldnt make it there in time.

    UGH.

So I'm taking a bit of a personal weekend this weekend. Catch up on some sleep that I've missed out on this week. Drink some wine. Eat cheesy goodness. Perhaps work on some wedding DIY. But mainly chill the eff out. I take after my dad in the anxiety and stress department so FI is adament that I take some me time to recharge.

  • TGIF!!

I will be hitting the gym hard this weekend and cooking a ton. I want to make a bunch of healthy stuff I can freeze so that when I inevitably feel like tired poop, I won't be tempted to get bad-for-you food delivered. I'm really not interested in gaining a shit load of unnecessary weight while pregnant.

I also want to do some shopping. I haven't been legit clothes shopping in MONTHS. I just cleaned out my closet last weekend and took stuff to Salv Army, so I want to get a few new things.

We might buy a TV this weekend - I guess there are good sales before the super bowl and we've been looking for a while. If anyone has suggestions on good TVs, I'm open!

We love our 2 Samsungs.  Gotta ask FI what kind they are.  They're a few years old, but I think the newer models are comparable in quality.  Good picture, easy to set up, plenty of outlets for plugging in various cords. 60-something inch in the living room and small one in the kitchen.

We have some cheapy one in the guest room that we won at a raffle around the time we bought the Samsungs.  The cheapy one and one Samsung are both small, maybe 30inches, and the cheap one has noticeably worse picture quality, even to someone like me who doesn't always notice that stuff.  It also has less cord space (so, if you're looking to hook up a sound system, video games, plug in the laptop, etc...you start running out of room.)

Our bedroom TV is an old Sharp Aquos (probably 10 years old), but it still has good picture quality and hasn't had any problems.

One random thing I do know about TVs is that Plasma TVs should not be tilted, so if your TV is on an angle at all, avoid it.

  • 3 day weekend here as well, plus we get off at 3 today since Monday is a holiday.  I plan on sleeping lots, and being generally lazy.

Glad your dad is okay @SoontobeMrsKlein

  • So jealous you have Monday off!

We have no plans until Sunday. Sunday we have a co-ed baby shower in Manhattan.
  • TGIF!  I'm going to Disneyland this weekend! I haven't been in like six years, so it should be a lot of fun.

I have owned two Panasonic flat screen tvs and they are awesome. Our current TV is a 50" 1080p LED Panasonic SmartTV. We just bought it in October for around $650 on sale. The picture quality is fantastic, the sound is good, and I love that it's a SmartTV.
  • @climbingwife--Ugh you just reminded me that I do have a co-ed baby shower on Sunday, too! So much for no plans. LOL

  • We're driving to my parents' house after work tonight because we're going to ski tomorrow and their house is about an hour and a half closer than ours...so we can leave at 6AM instead of 4:30AM to make it to the mountain by 9.

So tomorrow we'll ski with a bunch of friends and probably drive back the same night because we've been skiing so much this month I think another hotel room is an irresponsible use of our finances.

Sunday, I probably need to hit the mall, although I hate clothes shopping, and pick up a couple things because I lent some clothes to my favourite pocket gay for a drag Halloween costume and then his car got broken into and the idiot thieves TOOK MY SKIRTS - like, what are you going to do with a bunch of pre-owned minis and pencil skirts, exactly? They were probably all from Forever 21 anyway - so now I have nothing to wear all my fun patterned leggings and tights with.

I hope there's some wannabe car thieves out there looking G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S in my favourite bandage skirt, man, because otherwise what a waste.

  • I spent the week feeling super jet-lagged from our honeymoon travel, so TGIF indeed!

I have absolutely nothing exciting planned. Just getting in some good miles on my bike and hopefully trying out my new pasta maker! And also probably drinking some of the amazing wine we bought in South Africa.
  • I have a 1/2 day today and then a full day off Monday. Hooray. I'm super stoked about it. Saturday is a lazy day, Sunday is football (gotta get my last few weeks in) and Monday... well who knows what fun Monday has in store!

  • SO glad it's a 3 day weekend. Tonight we're going out to eat for my friend's birthday and possibly going to a bar afterwards (though I've been sick so I'm not sure if FI and I will make it to the bar). Tomorrow we may go hunting, and then tomorrow night we're supposed to go to a coworker's birthday party. I may just make an appearance at that then duck out early. No set plans for Sunday, but Monday I have my first dress fitting :D

And my boss is off today so I'm possibly going to sneak out of work early and just leave my phone on in case they need me. Of course we know that I can't officially leave early because my coworker gets to leave a lunchtime every week.

  • Also, it seems like too much work to google this - what's your holiday for on Monday? Is it MLK Jr Day or am I making stuff up?

  • I'm still on winter break so it seems like a lot of days are "weekends". I'm bored! Luckily school is going to start again, the bad news I'm taking 18 credits and working. So my lazy days will be over soon.

Today, I'm recovering from yesterday. From 9 am to 1:45 I was having science day. The museum was closed so I had to come up with an exercise. The kids seem to like it ok, and it take up the 30 min allowed in each slot. These were 8th graders so I'm happy I survived! Only down side, it was messy so I spent awhile cleaning up. I'm going to be studying for the GRE and relaxing with V.

Saturday, I have to take the GRE. I'm hoping I do ok, but if I really hate my score I have time to retake it. Other than that I have no plans for saturady.

Sunday, my main event is watching the seahawks play against the packers! I hope my seahawks win and we go on to win another Superbowl! I'm hoping to convince V or someone to go with me to watch. I don't have any other plans. I'm hoping to get some yoga in too.

Monday, I'm also off! Its my last day of freedom so V and I will have lots of fun playing headbanz and possibily drinking some fun stuff. I love playing cards and board games and I'm not ashamed!

    Yup, MLK Jr Day
  • I just had a customer call in and request a delayed shipment because of the holiday.  I was really confused for a second.

  • Yay for 3 day weekend! I had a presentation at work an hour ago that I was really nervous about. It was for my Compliance area, along with a group of tax attorneys, and regular attorneys, and some other big shots in the company, so I was stressed out this morning. But it went well, and now I can enjoy Friday! I have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend. Maybe we will go watch American Sniper at some point. I'll probably kickbox tonight and tomorrow. And continue my salsa classes on Sunday!

  • I'm taking the tree down. Ornaments are packed away, just need to get the lights.

And then the non-Christmas stuff. Hmmm.

Might run some clothes to donation site today. I have 4 garbage bags full of clothes that no longer fit (and subsequently, I no longer wear) to donate.

The sad thing is, I still have more I could purge.

I might be a materialistc whore.

    MY TACO DREAMS CAME TRUE!!!

The conference room nearest to my office had tacos catered for a lunch meeting. There are TONS of yummy leftovers. YAY TACOS! And guacamole!

3-day weekend here too, whoop whoop! We get President's Day off too. I'm thinking it's a good thing I haven't heard back from my two interviews yet; I don't want to leave until after President's Day. It's so miserable having to go from New Year to Memorial Day without a (ETA paid, off-work) holiday! (We don't get any time off for Easter.)

  • Have you been to Duo for brunch, @Sarawifenow? We went for my bday last weekend and it was soooooo good! I'm not a huge fan of their dinners, but they made up for it with the brunch goodness (...and they have a great bloody mary, to boot. Says everyone at the table who was drinking them but me).

I think DH & I might try to go fishing or something outside this weekend since it's supposed to be so nice. I also want to do a little bit of work on the nursery...and sleep in...and watch some movies. Pretty low key.

  • @SmileDamnit--I haven't been to Duo yet but I hear it is really good. I am obsessed with bloody marys so I will definitely have to check it out. If you like brunch, you should check out Jimmy's Urban in downtown. The bbq brisket hash with eggs over medium=drool!

Apparently I need to go to Denver for brunch.

My hairstylist friend, whom I haven't seen for months because she moved kinda far away and I can normally only get in evenings after work, had a last minute cancellation for tomorrow so I snatched it up to get my hair done! I'm super excited - she's the best colorist EVER. Time for a change!

We have two Samsungs as well - H liked the TV in the family room so much he bought an identical one for the basement. Yes, my H has a 60" TV in the basement. :-|

They're, um... black. That's all I know about TVs.

  • This week was a little trying. That staff member of mine who got arrested last Friday came back, and I dunno...I'm starting to think she's a little nuts and more than just a victim of bad circumstances. But we'll see how it goes. But it was also my birthday week so that was fun! And I also get Monday off. Sooo excited.

I started the weekend off by renewing my car registration and going on a 4 mile run. I was dreading the hell out of it but I feel so awesome now. Waiting for Indian food delivery and FI to get home from work.
