Where did your bridesmaids' dresses come from?

Re: Where did your bridesmaids' dresses come from?

  • My BM dresses were from Macy's Bridal Dept.  They have all well known BM dress designers.  If you wait until they have a trunk show for their wedding dresses, you can get 20% off all dresses in the Bridal Dept., so we did that for my wedding dress and the BM dresses.  The girls picked out the dress, though they all wore the same one, it was just under $100 after the 20%.  Don't recall the designer though.  They also have a full range of prices, some dresses were $250+.
  • If you are trying to stay in a tight budget you can look for dresses that are not labeled as "bridesmaid dresses". That's what I had to do. I got all 5 of my bridesmaid dresses from zappos.com (a company owned by Amazon).  I know Macys and Nordstrom also has some cute dresses.
  • I can't remember.  It was either a Simplicity or Vogue pattern with fabric purchased from Jo-Anns.
  • My ladies were hundreds of miles from me. I sent sections of a fabric swatch from my salon of Maggie Sottero pale gold. Said, look pretty and know that outside daytime and evening temps will be sixty to seventy degrees . They went to different department or wedding stores I do not even know. They communicated with each other, I stayed out of it.
One dark teal long early maternity long skirt and lace top, one peacock blue green long dress, one sage bluish green cocktail at knee length. Two of them who did not even know each other were going to be in another wedding with other flexible pick what you want instructions, one had a fall concert as a soloist.

So they all bought V necks with elbow length sleeves in tone on tone poly jacquard weaves. We looked terrific together. No hassles, they chose their individual budgets. Clothes each wore for many dressy occasions, I have seen pictures.
  • Macy's. We fell in love with the polka dots!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I haven't picked out my bridesmaids dresses yet, but I'm in a similar boat like you in that I want to keep it price-friendly for my bridesmaids :-)

I found this one website: www.littleborroweddress.com, where the BM can rent the dress for $50 or buy it for $100. They look pretty nice and I'm not sure how many BM wear their dresses again after the wedding.

  • Herve Leger on clearance from Neiman Marcus.  I paid for it, so once my one bridesmaid found the black dress she liked, I bought it for her.  She looked stunning.

I hope all your BM have amazing bodies. Those dressses are not forgiving.

My BMs are doing this! I suggested it to them and told them the color I liked and they all LOVED the idea. They have a store in NYC that they ship from. They ship the BMs the size they order, plus a free back up size that they choose.

  • My bridesmaids and MOH just bought their own dresses. We talked about a color and length, and they bought dresses that color and length from wherever they choose.  My one bridesmaid bought her dress online for $19!  My MOH (and sister) bought her dress from ModCloth for $60ish, and my third bridesmaid bought hers from a department store. I thought it worked out nicely!  They choose what they wanted and got to decide exactly how much they wanted to spend.  This might be tricky with a big wedding party, but with only three people (and they are all also friends), it worked well!
  • I only had a MOH and no wedding colours, so I told her to wear whatever she wanted.  Unfortunately, she couldn't decide and bought 3 different dresses before picking one, but that was her choice.  She did the same for me and her other BM.  I bought mine at Le Chateau as they have lots of nicer dresses there.  It was just over $100 but didn't need alterations and we didn't match.  We were both in fall colours.

  • Ours were Alfred Sung and came from the same salon I got my dress from, so they got a 15% discount. Originally they were $150-200 for cocktail length peau de soie.

  • Mine got their dresses from David's Bridal. I told them to pick whatever dress they liked in midnight blue, cocktail length. They both chose different dresses- different materials and style. I think they were around $120-150 (I'm in Canada, most of the dresses started around $120).

I also tried to find not "bridesmaid" dresses but unfortunately had a hard time finding stuff in navy (like seriously! Navy! It's a neutral!!). There is a store here (Le Chateau) that often has awesome dresses, though they aren't any cheaper than David's.
  • We got Bill Levkoff dresses from the same bridal shop I used for my dress. The girls got a 10% discount on top of the 20% discount on Bill Levkoff dresses. All of the girls' max budget was $200. With the discounts, the dresses were between $120-$140. Originally we wanted to look at Mori Lee and Alfred Angelo dresses, but the girls went straight for the Levkoff dresses because they were discounted. They are all wearing different styles, but all in the color pewter.
