Where did all the black dresses go?

I have 2 BMs and my plan was for them to wear a short black dress. Didn't have to match, didn't have to be from a bridal store etc. especially since they have vastly different body types so I figured they would get different ones. We started at Davids Bridal and they didn't like any of those, except for one that is a cotton sateen and thus black looked bad. Figured no big deal we can find black dresses at the mall. Wrong! Went to Macy's, Von Maur, JC Penney plus Limited and somewhere else. We found either business type dresses or younger homecoming/prom types. We were all very surprised at the difficulty in finding them. The only store we didn't get to was White House Black Market bc the dresses they saw were online only versions. Ended up getting the one dress they both liked at Davids a Bridal in a blue shade which is pretty so it worked. Just surprised we didn't have any luck finding a black dress that would work. Oh well at least this can be checked off the list!

I think it may be because if the time of year. Like you said, it's all about prom right now. And spring colors.

Plus I feel like any time you're looking for a simple, specific thing, you will not find it. Once you guys quit thinking of black dresses, you'll see them EVERYWHERE.

I once needed khakis for a job I had in college. I literally went to 11 different stores and could not find a damn single pair of khakis. It was bizarre.

That was our thought too. And yeah wintertime dresses were still the majority which was odd since we figured next season would be out. They were worried about not getting something in time of they needed alterations etc so decided best to just buy now and then just look longingly at the black dresses when they see them everywhere inthe next few weeks
