Small Victory

What is something small you have accomplished lately? A small victory to you?

For me, last night H and I made chicken fajitas for supper. Now, our fajitas can barely be considered healthy. And I only ate one even though I wanted a second so badly. I'm trying to eat smaller portions so this was a small win for me.

Is there a way we can help you make them more healthy? That way, although you are trying to have smaller portions, you can eat more without feeling guilt. I'm all about Hungry Girl and her recipes with low calorie count so you can eat and eat :)

This past weekend I had my bach and bridal shower, so I'm working on finishing all the TY cards by today or tomorrow.

  • My small victory - not killing H when he woke me up at 5 am for the second morning in a row. Wide awake, couldn't fall back asleep. It's going to be a very long, caffeine-filled day.

  • I've been eating a lot better lately and have been cooking more meals at home.

@dolewhipper That's a great suggestion and I will look into that for sure! We do tortillas, (fat free) sour scream, salsa, hot sauce, sauteed chicken, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The sour cream and cheese definitely don't helped the health factor.

What kind of tortilla are you using? Corn are wayyy fewer calories and I think they have more flavor. They also tend to be smaller so you can feel like you're eating "more" even if you get the same amout of food/calories, but split into 3 tortillas instead of 2.

I think they are flour tortillas. I will try the corn ones though!

What about fat free alternatives? And I know weight watchers carries a line of foods, including shredded cheese, but I'm not sure about the calorie count. If you're looking for just a "creamy" aspect tot he meal, do you all like avocado? At least its very filling and has good fats.

We had taco night last night too and my tips are to layer it lettuce, salsa/tomatoes/other veggies like roasted peppers and meat on top. You wont eat as much meat but still feel full from the veggies.

  • I got up BEFORE I was supposed to be at work today, so that's an accomplishment.
  • Fat-free dairy is an abomination and a crime against food. I actually find that I eat less (because I feel more satisfied) with full-fat products. I like to sub plain Greek yogurt for sour cream - even full fat Greek yogurt has fewer calories, fat grams and carbs and more protein than reduced fat sour cream.
This is what I was going to suggest. I really can't taste the difference. I use it also in place of sour cream for topping on chicken enchilada soup. The creamy texture is what I'm looking for, less so than taste.

That IS a great idea! I'm lactose intolerant so I steer clear of dairy, so I didn't even think of this.

    I second the corn tortillas!

  • I went out last night, stayed out too late... flirted with the idea of staying home sick, but opted to go to work because it's not work's fault I was a big dummy head.

Then I got to work 20mins early. Apparently I'm at the speed of light when I'm hungover. Newsflash to me.

This is me. I think it's really because I feel like such shit that I don't care what I look like. That, and it leaves time to stop for a really greasy breakfast.

I do like avacado and never thought about using it on fajitas. I don't know why! I also just convinced DH that he likes it too!

  • We have steak fajitas, and cook the steak in salsa in the pan.  That might be a good tasty substitute too, especially if you use hot salsa.

I'm up and about to go to work, so small victory for not getting fired.  I'm so damn tired

That's my go-to hangover breakfast too! Gotta have the fountain diet coke or I'm wrecked for the rest of the day.
  • I got a biscuit and gravy with a drink this morning for $1.  I was pretty proud of that.

Teach me your ways, o wise biscuit-getting one.

My small victory WAS choosing the Ritz Bits over the Nutter Butters in my snack drawer. Then I checked the nutrition facts.

Lunchtime is a bad time to stock up on snacks.

Our work gets tons of random coupons for fast food places, and I have like a stockpile of them.  I used 2 of the coupons today, one was for a $.99 biscuit and gravy and a free drink.  so technically.... I paid $1.09, but still worth it to me.  I love me some biscuits and gravy. With Coke.. real coke, not diet. Go big, or go home.

  • I want an Egg McMuffin. Egg and cheese (minus Canadian bacon) was yesterday's morning sickness cure...today's pancake and peanut butter is not quite cutting the mustard. Although the setting is much nicer (lying in bed working from home).

Avocado was also my go-to cheese replacement when I gave cheese up for Lent last year. Just gave everything that little bit of creaminess I needed.

  • My small victory is having M on a budget and he's ahead of the game! With his debt load {that he is aggressively paying down and doing all he can to make sure it doesn't go higher}

I work at a bankruptcy firm so I'm a little .... well, i guess anal would be best here, when it comes to debt.
I've already done future projections on budget and know I will be able to save more.

BUT HE IS SAVING AND ALL IS WONDERFUL BECAUSE WE HAVE COME TO AN AGREEMENT THAT HE WILL STICK TO.

    *round of applause*

    My next small victory will be having him stick to the dish schedule {we both hate dishes, made compromise for every 2nd day}
  • I haven't had any wheat products since Saturday, which is a big deal.

Also, I managed to get out of bed before 9 am because they're delivering our new mattress today!!!

  • My 'big' victory is that I've taken my makeup off and washed my face before bed for the past 2 weeks straight. I'm pretty impressed with myself.

My small victory is that I stayed up until 10 last night before being silly tired. My thyroids been out of whack lately and by 9pm I've been incoherent tired. So the fact that I was still awake and functioning like normal person is a step in the right direction. FI was really thrown off by it. "It's 10pm... why aren't you passed out on the couch babbling incoherently??"

  • My victories are all food-related too, lol. I have a pound-a-week weight loss goal until my chest shrinks enough to not look so trashy in my wedding dress and I was a pound ahead of schedule this morning. So that's good.

  • Acting pretty much normal around a woman I am superbly attracted to.  She works at my new chiropractor's office and I am horrible in social interactions in general, let alone when I am attracted to someone.
