(Another) gratuity question

For our dinner reception at a casino restaurant, we have a standard 20% service fee and 7.75% on our prebill. What do I tip for the staffing gratuity at the end of the event? 15-20% based on the total bill or based on the service fee?

    The 20% is the tip, you do not need to tip anything additional.  I'm not sure I understand what this 7.75% is for, or what a 'prebill' is?

    I am going be asking the venue if the 20% goes to the waitstaff. If not, I will tip $20 or so to each person.

    Thanks for your replies. I meant to include that the second number is for tax. These figures show up on our final pre-event invoice -- we'll sign/pay at the close of the event.

    I'm not certain if the service fees are for items other than gratuities for servers, so want to ensure the waitstaff is tipped. I just want to make sure we don't tip them x2 or stiff them!

    I insisted my venue write it into the contract that the 'service fee' is a gratuity that will be shared amongst the waitstaff.  They had no problem adding that.  I also asked a few of the servers that night if these types of events pay them properly from the service charge just to be sure I didn't have any issues.

    That is a really smart idea, VG. Our contract just listed the amount as "service fee" without any description, so it made me curious what others had encountered on their bills. I am meeting with our venue coordinator later today and will hopefully get some clarification on whether it covers gratuities. Thanks again!
