Wedding Invitations & Paper

Vistaprint Invitation Reviews

So, I have used Vistaprint for various customized project (coffee mugs for an organization I'm on the board of, that sort of thing). I've always found them to be fully adequate for my needs and reasonable in price. I ordered our STD magnets last week from Vistaprint and while I haven't received them, I expect them to be perfectly adequate for the purpose of an informal mailing.

My question is about their wedding invitations. Admittedly, the styles are not exactly all stellar. Still, there are some that are workable. I ordered the sample kit and even ordered the smallest quantity possible of a design I thought was ok just to see (at 60% off they were so cheap). However, so many sales are going on today/this week. For example, the Minted sale where you don't even have to commit to picking out exactly what you want is kind of awesome and my sister recommended them. They still are far far more than Vistaprint will be though.

Sometimes I see a sample of really beautiful invites and think, oh wow, I want that. I went to a bridal show and touching the beautiful stationary was just lovely. And then I look at the price tag and think, dude, that is going in the trash at some point, it's not worth it.

So what are people's actual experiences with Vistaprint wedding invitations? Were you happy with what you got for the low price? I've read both good and bad about them but want to get a take from you stationary gurus out there.

Re: Vistaprint Invitation Reviews

  • I was pleased with what I got. I do wish I'd paid for the higher quality paper...but the printing and design I was happy with.  I got all of my stationary stuff from there, thank yous for the shower and wedding, invites, rsvp, seating cards, programs...everything.  I used Groupons for all of them too.  I didn't have the patience to do DIY and I didn't have the budget for much more than Vistaprint but if I could do it all over I'd just get the better paper.
  • Daughter ordered everything from Vistaprint.  Most of the order was lovely, but the quality of the envelopes is very thin.  I would recommend replacing the free envelopes with some more substantial ones from an office supply store.  One postcard order was blurry.  A quick call to customer service, and they sent a new batch right away at no charge.
Sign up on their website for sale notices.  NEVER pay full price!
Hint:  We used folded business cards as escort cards.  Very inexpensive.  I wrote out the names and table numbers by hand.

Oh wow, that is a tricky and good tip on the business cards. Did you get them blank or put a design on half and then fold over?

I definitely wouldn't pay full price -- I am on their mailing list so I know they routinely have sales. This "black Friday" one has been great with so much stuff being 60% off.

It's good to know that their customer service is good and that they would fix something if it came out badly, that is a lot of my concern as I have seen reviews noting a blurriness or alignment problem that wasn't evident in the proof.

  • I second the comment regarding envelopes being very thin. Definitely just buy your own at a office supply store. But I've ordered lots of different items from them over the years and have always been very pleased with the quality.

  • Does anyone have experience uploading your own image for an invite and having them print it?
  • I did this for my Save the Date's (a postcard) and it was totally fine.

They have thousands of designs.  Use the style selector tab to choose "floral" or "elegant" to save yourself sometime.

  • I was pleased with my Vistaprint  (VP) order. I ordered 200 magnetic Save the Dates. After they were shipped to me, I changed my wedding website. I called VP and it changed them for free. VP also shipped it express. Read my full review on VP and other companies at http://www.blacklistorrevisit.com/2015/02/why-i-will-reorder-from-vistaprintcom.html
  • I've ordered everything from vistaprint for the wedding; STD's, invites, rsvps, little bus cards with app info, reception info cards, and currently working on programs and menus (btw use the rack cards for this, so much cheaper than the actual menus and programs). I love them! They all look great. The envelopes are a bit thin, but I paid no mind to it, everyone got their invites in one piece and they were stuffed full with xmas cards too! I definitely recommend.

I'm pretty sure this is the 4th post I've made raving about them!
  • I was pleased with my order in terms of design and quality, and will agree with the posts re. envelope thickness. The one thing that I will caution all Canadian brides to check is that they bill your credit card in Cdn dollars (even when you are signed into the Canadian website). I had to deal with a customer service rep for almost 30 minutes to get them to admit their fault, and provide the credit.
  • I used them for my invitations since I was happy with my STD's (postcards). I upgraded to the nicest paper (linen finish I think) but mostly because I liked the texture. I do agree that the envelopes are cheap, but I'm not too concerned about it.

The  more I thought about invitations, I even thought it was silly to upgrade the paper because I really don't think anyone saves them, with the exception of me and my mother. But I did, and they were still a lot cheaper than anywhere else. So I'm really not concerned about an envelope that will for sure get thrown away.

The only problem with Vistaprint is their SAMPLE wording.  There is obviously no one who knows wedding invitation etiquette working there!  Daughter ordered everything from them (properly worded), and my only objection was the flimsy quality of their envelopes.  You can easily buy envelopes of better quality at any office supply store - an easy fix.
