  • Immunity through breastfeeding is only effective until about 6-8 months. It is NOT full immunity. It is NOT a fail-safe. It is NOT a replacement for vaccinating.

Glad your knowledge on the subject comes from scare-tactic blogs and Dr. Google.
  • I had the vaccines against my will, but now I am immune and my child is immunce trough my breastfeeding so it's a natural immunityprocess we should ALL learn about.
    whomp whomp whomp

Elementary science failure here.  Antibodies pass through breast milk.  ALL antibodies are not active at all time.  All antibodies do not pass through breast milk.

My flu shot doesn't make a nursing baby immune to the flu.  My measles vaccine from 10 years ago doesn't make my kid immune to measles.
She got to her her very own shot, to create her very own antibodies for that.

  • Flanny, don't go anywhere. It's just your first debate, and I'm sure it will not be your last. Girl, it's not that serious. This isn't old Flanny is it?

  • Like I said  - fear mongering blogs.

And the CDC link you posted about autism (which is not the POTENTIAL DEATH SENTENCE that you seem to think a vaccine is) says nothing about vaccines.

I think you need to read this Autistic woman's response to anti-vaxxers:
    http://www.ifyouonlynews.com/human-interest/autistic-womans-heart-wrenching-facebook-post-wins-the-anti-vaxxing-argument/

And take a good, hard look at this:

  • Your physician resource up there doesn't understand chemistry.  The "aluminium" in vaccines is NOT what you get in your cans. I found a picture to make it easier.

Also, you didn't read your CDC source.  There's nothing there attaching vaccines to autism.  There has only ever been ONE study that linked vaccines to autism.  It was financed by lawyers looking for cases.  The doctor who published it was found to be in such conflict of interest and error that his medical license was REVOKED, to never be reinstated.  Additionally, NO other studies using the same methods have been able to replicate his results.  If you know anything about how science works, if you can't replicate your results, your results are wrong.

    Try.  Again.
  • I predict this is going to be our 3 pager of 2015. Carry on.

  • If the "other side of the story" came with credible resources and science backing it (because science is real) then it would be a vastly different discussion.

Instead, I now have to live with the fear that my medically fragile/disabled child will contract a disease that was erased from this country 15 years ago because she goes to school in a children's hospital and there are enough people who have decided not to vaccinate their children that herd immunity is going out the window quickly. She's vaccinated but that doesn't mean she can't contract any of these diseases.

Some people feel that they want to protect their child from as much damage as possible by limitingtheir exposure to man-made sources of illness and injury. How can anyone really believe that they can do that? You can try, but heck everything out here can kill you under the right circumstances. Really? Girl, who's trying to bring back bubble boy. Should we go through the list of all the stuff that can kill you out here. I think vaccines are low on the list, yo.

  • "She's vaccinated but that doesn't mean she can't contract any of these diseases. "

Then what is the point of being vaccinated? Aren't all people then vulnerable to disease even if they are vaccinated? Then why push the issue? That makes no sense. If she is vulnerable then perhaps a hospital is not the best environment for her since sick people are all over the place, I am sorry to be blunt but it's not like anyone cares how they speak to me. Hospitals are where sick people go for treatments, so then she is exposed to a lot more than measles, and if we all just take intelligent precautions (IE washing hands) we can help make these things not as scary as some people think they are. I see people all the time sneezing on my shopping cart so I carry purell.

Because by being vaccinated the severity and length of the illness can be shortened. Doesn't mean that the disease isn't still dangerous. Especially to someone who is already compromised.
