SNOW DAY!

....that so far looks like this:

But still! Don't have to take off my pajamas! Don't have to drive my car! Don't have to work!

Still had to get up early, because Bossman didn't tell me to stay home until seven, but I can nap later when I decide I want one!

I love living in a state that gets one snow a year. Especially after last year's Snowpocalypse. Everyone is being safe, because last year everyone got stranded. (Seriously there were kids stuck in schools and it took my mom 6 hours and a kind stranger with a four-wheeler to get home. It was disastrous.)

What are y'all up to today?

Waiting on my own snowstorm. But alas, we don't get the comfort of everything shutting down haha we just trudge on through and keep going.

  • Yeessss!!!!!  I contemplated starting this exact thread today, because we are also having a snow day!  We have wine and, of course, plenty of milk and bread!  So, so exciting.  I know the northern knotties don't understand, so we shall enjoy the southern snow day together!! :)

  • Nice! I love adult snow days. Those are the days that I like to stay inside and eat junk food and drink alcohol all day. Especially in pajamas.

I was expecting a half day, since it's not supposed to start until about one. I suspect Mrs. Bossman had a lot to do with mine haha.

We have plenty of milk and bread, but no alcohol I'd drink haha. Oh well. I may run get butter before it starts up good and make a double batch of chocolate chip cookies.

Freaking southern snow days are the BEST.

@mikenberger I think you live in the wrong place. Come live here! Less snow to deal with, and when it DOES snow the whole state shuts down. The governor declared a state of emergency last night for today. Alabama cannot handle the snow.

  • That is awesome.

I have a dentist appointment today. Not looking forward to that.
  • No snow day in SW Florida :( Just annoying cold and fog. Lucky ladies! I'm visiting my family in NY next week. Hoping I get to see snow, but not too much snow...

Where are you that got snow?? Virginia Highland got absolutely nothing so I had no excuse to stay home today. The local weather stations are making it sound like we will get a couple inches but accuweather and weather.com say it won't even get that cold. Not sure who to believe...

Dentists are my least favorite. Hopefully it will go quickly and then you'll be done though!

@blabla89 I'm around the Smyrna area.  Trying to get a pic off my phone--we had a nice coating on the deck and backyard.  Still have plenty of ice out there this morning, so hopefully if it does snow, it'll have something to stick to!

My district made cancelling school yesterday the most stressful thing ever.  I was getting ready to leave both times, and it was icing and snowing, and so nasty out!

ALWAYS believe the ones most likely to tell you what you want to hear! Hahaha.

I honestly prefer local weathermen and newscasters. I never feel like I know what's going on with the national ones. Local forecasters go into details for my area. Weather.com and accuweather don't give me that confidence.

Quoted because I only get to give you one love it. The South's reaction to snow, everyone!

@mrsk616 come! Join us! Where I'm at we probably won't get another snow until next February, and this one isn't supposed to last more than a day or so. At one point they were saying highs in the mid-sixties for this weekend.

Exactly. My coworkers and I will all experience "mysterious outages" around the county.

  • Snowpocalyse 2015! My mother sent me this, Bama kids will know what's up. (Um can anyone see that?)
I'm glad everyone is being serious about it though. Last year my parents ended up sharing a hotel room with 3 semi-strangers (a classmate of mine and two people that were just super nice), and my boss ended up sleeping on the interstate. I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping good walking shoes, a winter coat, a few bottles of water and some Clif bars in your car. Or you know, just not being dumb and trying to drive on slick icy roads that haven't been treated without correct tires.

Ooh, Snowpocalypse 2014 stories! Let's see:

It took me three hours to drive what was normally a 20-minute commute home. And I was lucky because my boss knew I was driving my FI's crappy car and she let me go earlier than my coworkers. One of my coworkers was stuck waiting outside at a MARTA bus stop for four. Hours.

My friend and her mom were stuck on I-85 northbound for twelve hours. They and other drivers eventually just got out of their cars and walked to a nearby QuikTrip, where they were serving people hot coffee for free.

ETA: I live and work in peace up. A-town down. Kirkwood, to be more specific.

THAT IS THE BEST GRAPHIC EVER. JAMES SPANN IS MY FAVORITE WEATHERMAN. If you're seeing suspenders AND he's saying your area, you better be in a safe place cus whatever he's talking about, is coming straight for you.

My cousin got stranded outside bham and wound up getting a hotel with strangers too. ... She's an AU vet, although she'd graduated by then. (I seem to recall you're an AU vet, which is why I mention it? I could be wrong.)

Did your cousin share it with two teachers and her friends parents? Do they have Snowpacalypse reunions? You should ask her this because I'm having a feeling that we might be talking about the same person.
  • We're suppose to get snow today as well! We never really get a "snow day" because we all have computers so we can work from home. But man do I love working under a heated blanket on my couch much more than at a desk in the office.
