I wonder if Mini will ever come back and be like, yeah... I fucked up.   Cuz this shit is crazytrain.

Doesnt she have to come back? Isnt she a mod?

My guess is that she tried to pretend this thread never happened.

She is not a mod anymore. Hasn't been for a little while now. I'm going to guess that she's flounced for a while because we 'misunderstood' her.

  • Maybe she's just busy yelling at her DH's boss and getting him his job back.

Omg, wait! Was this her too? It all makes sense now!
  • Oh man that was her?? Well, she's consistent.

I don't think it was her with the DH job situation. I could certainly be wrong though.

  • Is that New York from Flava of Love?  I loved her, she was nuts!

Yes ma'am! She is my batshit crazy hero.
  • So the past few months I've been binge-watching Gilmore Girls, because it was my favorite show in high school, and while I still love it, there are some things that are really making me cringe. Specifically, ANYTHING to do with a character getting married. This particular thread makes me think of how when Lorelei proposed to Luke, EVERYONE gave Luke shit about it. No one for one second still acted happy and excited for them when they found out she was the one who proposed. And the show portrays that attitude as completely okay. In fact, Luke spends an entire episode trying to find the right way to "re-propose" to Lorelei, the implication being they won't be officially engaged until A. he proposes, and B. he does it in the proper kind of "magical" moment.

    UGH.
I do like, however, when Emily and Richard get all offended about being B-Listed to a wedding.

Yeah, but then they try to make Lorelai and Christopher have a PPD.  And at some point, Rory has a ppd graduation because there aren't enough tickets for all of Star's Hollow to attend the ceremony.  I love Gilmore Girls.
    Best show ever.

And I don't even care about the ettiqute breaches because I love it so much.

Oh yeah I liked that too! Ironic that one of the only wedding-related moments I like about that show is something Richard and Emily did. But I also liked how at Lane and Zach's wedding, when Lorelei gave an embarrassing drunken toast, Lane and Zach didn't even notice because they were too busy being happy about throwing an awesome party for all their friends.

Ooo what about that huge engagement party the town threw for Lorelei when she was with Max? I'm pretty sure not everyone there was actually invited to the wedding.

    Yes, you're being ridiculous.

Is your sister happy? That's all that should matter. Even if she isn't, it's her life and you should butt out.
She said no. As in, no, let's not go to Vegas this weekend and get married.
You still need to butt out. You're not part of their relationship, even if you are close to your sister.
She's my sister. She tells me her opinion, I tell her mine. That's how a relationship works. Obviously she didn't think it was the most awesome thing ever because she said no. I think when he asks her again he should put a little bit more effort in it and that is what I told her. She can agree or disagree with me, but that's my opinion. She's my sister, I love her, and I wan the best for her.
As someone whose sister tends to over-share her opinions in the sake of looking out for what's best for others, I can say that it can be grating and comes across as really judgmental most of the time. Unless your sister is upset about it and specifically comes to you for advice/help, then you should keep out of it.

Want to know how my parents got engaged? They were sitting in the back seat of their friend's car, and my mom looked at my dad and said, "Hey, maybe we should get married." And he said "Ok." Just because it's not some romantic, thought-out proposal doesn't mean it wasn't legitimate.

  • I'm just gonna start deciding that things in life are not legitimate (by my own made-up arbitrary standards) so I can get upgraded versions.

This work day? Not legitimate. I'm gonna go tell my boss right now that I'm going home. If tomorrow is a better work day, then it will be legitimate and I'll stay and work.

My bill at the restaurant? Not legitimate. So I don't have to pay it. They can bring me a better bill or the answer is just no. Unacceptable.

And dinner tonight will not be legitimate if it does not include bacon. My beverage will not be legitimate unless there's vodka in it.

This is really fun! What else can I judge.....
My coworker is not legitimate because she breathes really loudly and annoys people. She is fired.

My car is not legitimate because it keeps refusing to start. I am entitled to an upgraded version.

My bra is not legitimate because it isn't giving me my preferred amount of cleavage.

My cable bill? Not legitimate. I do not have to pay it.

This teleconference that I am currently on?  Not legitimate.  I will just hang up and say 'screw work!'
