Making a Life Altering Decision

Re: Making a Life Altering Decision

  • @sarawifenow I'm sure I would love this if I ever wore a bra.. that is one thing I will not make the effort to do! I think I wear one maybe once a year in very extreme circumstances!

  • I work at a zoo.

I wear men's cargo pants and a men's work shirt, and in the winter I bundle up and you can barely see my face. No makeup and don't do my hair.

I'm almost always covered in animal parts or poop. My FI likes when I don't smell like birds, so I do shower when I come home, but he tells me I'm beautiful all the time regardless. I never feel like I need to put on a show for him. I only get dressed in "normal" clothes when we have plans out, or an event. Otherwise it's men's clothing or sweats. and I love it.
  • @charlottesmom0626 your job sounds amazing! How the heck do I get a job with a zoo!? My problem isn't so much that I need to look "pretty" it's that when you work from home you can take it to the extreme.. pull on sweats in the morning, let the hair go Medusa style, and then your relaxing clothes that night are the same ones you were in all day. If I worked in sweats outside of the house I think it would be different, I would feel like a contributing part of society instead of a blob in my house!

  • OP, if you want to do your hair and make up because it makes you feel good about yourself then have at it.  I don't have anything against women who do do this, just the attitude that some have that I am not "done" or not good enough simply because I am not wearing makeup or have fancy pants hair.

  • I do find that I'm more productive at home if I put on pants and a bra, wash my face, brush my teeth, and sit at a table/desk rather than on the couch under a blanket in my jammies and stank. However... it still normally doesn't happen. If I DO do it though, I'm not doing it for H, I'm doing it so I keep myself un-fired.

@labro your bouquet looks just like mine!! <3

  • When I do work from home (bad weather or if I have some heating service guy coming) I am much more productive, work wise, when I am comfy in a pair of sweats and lounging on my couch with the tv on.  But then again, throughout school I got more homework done in bed and watching tv then I ever did sitting at a desk with the room quiet.

But if I want to clean my house and do laundry or do other housework stuff I have to put on my tighter yoga pants, sneakers, a bra, brush my teeth, etc.  Because if I am in my PJs/sweats and slippers I have zero motivation to get up and clean things.

  • @lovemesomemonster which extreme circumstances require bras?

There isn't many.. mostly it's if I put on a shirt that looks bad with another one under it but is loose enough and of the right material that at work it will be a little too "there's a nipple" to be appropriate. This most of the time results in stickies but sometimes I go for the bra.

  • I rarely wear bras too!

I wore on to my wedding cause my dress looked better with it on. I wore one to Wifey's holiday work party. I know I've worn between now and then but I can't remember when or for which circumstances.
  • @magicInk I actually wore one the other night just for shits and giggles.. at the end of the night I asked FI if he wanted to take it off since he gets to do that maybe once a year, his response.. "I'm too tired, just take it off and get in bed" haha

    Yay for no bras!

My puffy, sore prego boobs hate you both a little bit right now. I'm about to start wearing bras to bed.

  • I like this idea. I've been looking like a raggedy hobo lately. I did hair and light makeup on Saturday when we went to an event, but other than that not much. Looking pretty is fun :)

  • I definitely find that what I wear impacts how I feel and what I accomplish.
If I'm in pajamas, nothing gets done. That's couch time.
When I worked in an office, yep, effort every day. That's my game face, that's the statement I make to say, I'm taking this seriously and making an extra effort.
    Paint clothes on, I'm painting.

I do not even like going by a mirror and seeing myself in yesterday's braid with dark circles under my eyes. It depresses me. So yep, I usually make an effort to look nice, every day, because I feel better about myself and more confident that way.

But it's my definition of nice, to please me.

I've wanted to use this gif for awhile now.....

  • This sounded like a good challenge, so I decided to try it today.

    Not going so well.

I actually had to leave my house anyway today to drive my mom to work, but that's not something I would normally even put on real pants for, much less wash my hair (especially in the winter! Yay hats!).  But I did, I even blow dried it! Makeup for me is also minimal because I don't know what I'm doing, so just eyeshadow and liner.

So I took mom to work and brought my dog so she could go for a ride and to go play in mom's yard.  Of course, since I was out, why not stop at the grocery store?  So between that and almost an hour throwing the ball for my dog, I just sat down to work at 12:30.  Except I'm now still knotting, not working.

I had to change my pants when I got home because they were soaked from the snow, but I put on other jeans, so we'll see how this goes!

I only wear sports bras.  I wish I could wear none, but I hate when clothing rubs on my nipples, doesn't that bother you guys??

THIS is awesome! I'm pretty strict about my working hours, nobody can bother me between 7 and 5! BUT I work on a computer all day, have two screens so generally knotting is on one and working is on the other! Good work on the pants, I actually put them on this morning too!

As for the rubbing.. I have a large amount of tight tanks I wear under everything.. not the built in bra type, just the ones that are tight.. so I don't get a lot of rubbing.. although that sounds a little nice,  yeah? ;)

  • I may have taken a step backwards... I'm always cold, so I put on my bathrobe :-P

  • I can deal with pants but taking my bra off at night is probably one of my favourites things ever!!

  • I come home from work (as a teacher) and promptly change in to an oversized t-shirt. Pretty sure all that FI sees is no pants and no bra... not how much makeup I have on or how my hair looks.

I really don't like wearing pants. Fun fact.

  • I work from home.  Dressing for work means jeans or other pants and nice top or sweater.   I wash my hair every other day.  Day one it's "done", day two its pulled up.

I've never been one to wear makeup or even "do " my hair.   When I met DH I was working on a boat in board shorts, t-shirt, baseball hat with a bikini top underneath for when I went snorkeling.

I feel I work better when I'm dressed.  Dressed meaning I don't feel embarrassed when I run into people when I'm walking the dogs.
